Carol S.It was another terrible way to wake up. My rental property tenant texted to tell me the pilot light had gone out on the gas hot water. Neither he nor Virginia Natural Gas could get it lit. VNG told him that I needed a plumber. The technician also gave his general assessment of what he thought was the problem.
It wasn't a surprise to learn that my regular plumber didn't do gas appliances since they require additional certification & equipment. He referred me to someone who referred me to someone else. I checked the Yelp reviews for that plumber & Philbrick, the plumbing company used by the restoration company that has done work for me. Philbrick had good reviews. The other had bad. Thank you Yelp!
Calling Philbrick I expected a wait for service. Their customer service person put me on hold then returned to the line with great news. They had someone in the area & could come right away. Amazing!
My tenant was home so I hoped to handle my end over the phone. The technician called on the way to the property and we discussed the problem.
He finished getting the pilot light lit in record time & called me from the house. When that particular pilot light is lit there is a button you have to hold in for a specific amount of time. He had instructed my tenant on what had to be done.
Both the trip charge & the charge for starting the pilot light were extremely reasonable. We handled the transaction over the phone with a credit card & the receipt was emailed to me.
Randy, the technician was extremely nice and answered all my questions regarding the age & normal life span of the appliance. I also questioned the life span of electric hot water heaters, which I have in my main residence. I've had a hot water heater flood before. So I wanted to avoid that at both properties.
When I thanked him for the prompt response he told me that he had been rerouted to me. His next call had been sent to another technician. That's the perfect way to handle ""In Home"" scheduling by a repair center.
This company receives my highest recommendation. Thank you for making what started as a really bad day not bad at all. I didn't even lose my morning coffee hour(s) because of the conveniences they offered.
Reasonable prices, great work. Bill was my technician, he was prompt, professional, and an absolute pleasure to work with. The price was the same as the estimate, the work was outstanding and I will definitely use them again.
I called Philbrick knowing I needed my garbage disposal replaced. Randy was my tech today and he did an outstanding job! He was kind, knowledgeable, friendly and respectful of me and my home. Replacing the disposal quickly and shared tips to help remedy any future clogs or obstructions. A HUGE thank you to Randy and team Philbrick for providing such exceptional service!
I could not be more disappointed with the unprofessionalism and lack of integrity with this company. I had them do a total AC swap out. the 1 day quote became 2 days. They ended up falling through my ceiling. I had to call them back multiple times to get them to repair the ceiling damage, and it didn't happen for 3 weeks. There was a 1 year warranty, and when the system broke within a year, I called them. They acknowledged that there was no expense for a warranty repair. When they showed up, they said that the repair wasn't covered under warranty, tried to charge me $350 on site, I threw them out, then they mailed me an $80 bill for ""diagnosis"" of the system when I told them ahead of time what the problem was that they refused to fix. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. They said that they're sending the bill for not fixing my system under warranty to collections. -- After initial posting of this review, the owner of the company had his staff cancel the invoice and offer to do the warranty repair for free. He is a fair and honorable guy (interacted with him thrice, and always was a gentleman), but definitely doesn't erase my experience based upon the customer service of his staff.
My gas heating wasn't working. I thought it was the pilot light, but that's electronic. The furnace was firing up, but it wouldn't stay lit. I called Jake and he got me going in no time. It turned out to be the flame sensor. Once it was cleaned, then the furnace worked like a champ.
I'm signing up for the annual service with Philbrick from now on. Family owned business!
Great work Jake!
Susan C.Philbrick is our go to when we need to take care of our HVAC system. We had a unit go out over the summer. The team was responsive, highly professional and the job was a fair price. We just had Reggie come out an inspect our heating units for the season. Once again, they were on time, professional and comprehensive. He found a minor issue that he will come back to fix! Thank you to a great team!
Liam O.Part broke, needed replacement and freon...part free, labor free (warranty) freon $815.00! The national average is $300.00... The first tech had to call for help (?)...process took 5 hours and initially they wanted us to wait another week because it was a hot day (a hot day, wow, glad he wasn't a firefighter), my wife insisted it be done as scheduled...going elsewhere for any additional needed service.
Bob R.We have a large home (not bragging, just stating a fact) that we had built for us 15 years ago and our Air Conditioning system was beyond economical repair. It's amazing how far technology has advanced in 15 years.
Our old system was R-22, which used to be quite popular, but due to the new EPA environmental standards, it is no longer produced and it is quite expensive if you need to recharge your system.
We talked to several local contractors in the area but we were most impressed with the fine folks at Philbrick Heating and Air Conditioning in terms of pricing, scheduling availability and overall customer service. They took the time to walk us through every step of the instillation process and all of the wonderful features that the new system has to offer.
The new RUUD system uses the latest environmental friendly refrigerant and cools our home in a very short time in the heat of the Summer which is both comfortable and affordable in terms of our electric bill.
We could not be happier with the instillation, pricing, customer service and more importantly, service after the sale. If you are looking for a great experience, give the folks at Philbrick Heating and Cooling a call. You will be glad that you did and you can rest assured that you are supporting local business!!!
I have used Philbrick 3 times in last year or so. Was satisfied on first 2 calls. They have been responsive and prompt. Fixed the problem quickly and charged reasonable rates. The latest call was on a Sunday to fix a heating issue prior to a forecasted cold snap. I expected to pay a premium for a Sunday call and they quoted $ 185 for diagnostics. They fixed the problem quickly (about an hour for the total call) and presented me a total bill of over $ 500. They did not provide a detailed breakdown on the invoice (though they have in the past). The part itself would only be about $ 50 from what I can research on the internet. The excessive charge and the refusal to itemize parts and labor leaves me to feel I have been overcharged. I will not use them again and advise others to be cautious with them on emergency calls over weekends.
They arrived on time, were courteous, and identified the problem. However, unknown to either tech was it a multiple issue. The second issue did not appear for several hours, but they offered an emergency fix as it was about 7 PM. I cut off the water flow, and they scheduled for the next day. Bob fixed it in a matter of minutes, and there was not charge.
All employees were most helpful in this matter, and treated me with respect as they have done for over 30 years.
