We'd used several plumbers in the Merrimack Valley over the years, but weren't really satisfied until we found PHD Plumbing. He did a terrific job replacing a 1950s shower. Most recently, as he installed a new kitchen faucet, James corrected work done by previous trademen. He's a smart problem solver who's an efficient worker and good listener. I've always felt he's had our best interests at heart and completely trust that James will ensure the work is done right. We now have our plumber.

A Kitchen Faucet installation was completed by James out of their Haverhill office. He was friendly, competent, and helpful, and willing to take the time to speak with my condo management office about a maintenance issue that impeded his ability to quickly complete my request. The cost was very reasonable, and I would definitely trust them for future plumbing needs.
I should mention that the person I spoke with by phone to schedule the appointment was also very pleasant and knowledgeable.

Fair warning: ""PHD Plumbing"" hasn't done any job in my house, but in this review I assume that if they did, the job would've been of a high quality. So, why is one star? Answer is simple - I believe it's a rip-off business.
My story: back in November 2023 my 17-years old boiler died - as boilers always do, it did it on a weekend. It was pretty cold already and in a panicking mode I started calling whoever is available - ""PHD"" was one of them. They came, very professional, looked at the damage and told me that the whole system needs replacement - and I agreed. Long story short: the entire job - new boiler, old system removal, fixing some existing safety/""not to the code"" issues etc. - $22,400 (before taxes, and they could start only two weeks later!) Fortunately, I didn't stop and kept calling and found two more companies one quoted $10K, another - $9K. I went with the $10K one because they could start working the next day. BTW, during the assessment ""10K"" guy quoted the exact same equipment, pointed to the exact same issues that need to be fixed - but all for LESS THAN HALF the price of ""PHD"".
Job was finished in two days, very high quality, tidy job - no complains, very happy!
Bottom line: in situation like mine - which is most common - HVAC guys believe they have you over the barrel and you don't have any choice other than to pay whatever they want to charge you, however outrageous. When I asked why the price is so high, they tried to sell me some BS about ""overhead"", ""price of quality"" etc. - and other nonsense. Unfortunately for them, I knew a thing or two about all this and didn't buy their BS.
Bottom line: unless you REALLY have no other choice, skip ""PHD"" and keep looking, as I did - and you'll be rewarded by saving many thousands of good, hard-earned cash. Good luck!
Update 02/23/2024: In his reply PHD owner could do nothing better than ""...I'm suspecting your installation was done at a lower cost due to a lack of licensing and insurance"" and other degrading comments - with ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE. Let me reassure you, dear PHD, that company that installed new boiler is properly licensed and fully insured, with many stellar reviews on Yelp and Google and they did an excellent job! Explanation for 12K difference is different - they are just not as greedy as you are and/or can manage their business better. Have to add that, as far as quality goes, it was only my ASSUMPTION that you would do a good job - just giving you a benefit of a doubt, so to speak. Now, based on your unfounded insinuations, I start to think I gave you too much credit...

Highly recommend PHD Plumbing! We had leak issues with our bathroom sink and jacuzzi tub. The tub was challenging to access through a crawl space in our basement, but James was tenacious and did an excellent job. He patiently answered all of my questions during the process as well. If we have any future plumbing needs, will not hesitate to call PHD, worth every penny for a job well done.

I have been working with PhD Plumbing for over 5 years. I have called them for both plumbing emergencies as well as upgrades. The work has always been done right the first time. I have not had to call back. The work done has included broken cutoff valves, leaking toilet, toilet replacement, hot water heater replacement, faucet/sink/disposal replacement, water leak, and fixed my DIY plumbing. I highly recommend PHD Plumbing. The team is also very communicative and personable, making each visit a positive experience.

This is a great company! I cannot recommend PHD Plumbers more highly. In the middle of a severe heat wave, right before a weekend, our HVAC system died. Not only were they able to obtain the parts immediately (not easy these days), they worked long hours to ensure that the system was installed before the weekend. James was such a pleasure to work with; he's very friendly, personable, and one of the most experienced and knowledgeable professionals I've ever met. He takes the time to carefully explain what's needed (and also what's not needed - very honest), and he goes above and beyond to ensure that all work is done to the most meticulous standards. Tina is tireless, and she did a great deal of extra scheduling to squeeze in this big job. Their customer service is the gold standard; they arrive on time (calling in advance), are reliable, accessible, and always responsive. I will be using them for all my plumbing and HVAC needs in the future.

Tina and Robbie are customer focused and solved our problem quickly. To deal with a valve failure, we had to shut off the entire water system. They came quickly and installed a better valve. Very professional. As a first customer, I am so glad we called them.
