pete's late response today just reminds me of how he tried to rip me off. i was polite with your staff the first calls, but, was frustrated by the run around. bottom line, you owe me a total refund of the $145 cash your man took from me.
It is no surprise that most reviews here are negative, and have similar stories.
Pete's guy came, called his boss who listened to the roar of the heater, took my money, promised to return. After multiple calls, a man called and said the squirrel cage motor was broken, and unavailable, so they would bring me a Rheem heater for $4200. Today, a real plumber came, took the vent off, re-placed it, put a loop in the condensation tube, and, voila!, problem solved.
There is no squirrel cage motor.

UPDATE: the owner of Pete's Plumbing indicated that I must somehow be at fault for them not getting back to me after three weeks and for losing track of the report I had sent them. Well, I finally got hold of two other plumbers who answered my call, did not lose the inspector's report, gave me an estimate, and fixed the issues. No problems there! ?

I have used Pete's on several issues since I moved here in 2012. The work has always been of high quality. Their cost is higher than other plumbers, but their work and cleanup is excellent.
NOW, however, AN ISSUE HAS ARISEN, that, 2 years after they completed there work, is problematic.
During a kitchen renovation, I hired them to also install an emergency shut off valve near my water meter. According to national building code, there should be a shutoff valve between the supply valve and the house, 24"" from the supply valve. They did so, but did it improperly. Recently, when they were not available, another plumber used the valve and noted they had installed it BACKWARDS. The significance being that the house lines cannot be bled for work in the hose.
I called and told them their Master Licensed Plumber put it in backwards. They offered to come out and reinstall it properly, BUT ID HAVE TO PAY THEM $225.00 TO CORRECT THEIR MISTAKE!

After a lightning strike blew out some old piping in my house, Pete's was the only company who saw the emergency in the situation. They went above and beyond what every company I called was willing to do to stop the water leaking in my walls. Thank you!

These guys are amazing! They fixed my plumbing leak, replaced all my pipes in my home, then helped with my renovations in my kitchen and bathrooms. They can do it al!!! They are always courteous and on time.

Is there a negative star for this one?
For a Gas Hot Water Heater Install:
$599 (Basic Install)
$116 for relief (already on the hot water heater)
$220 for vent (already have and is up to code-had it checked)
$835 and that's without the Hot water Heater.
He was going to rob me and actually looked like he was caught when I started asking questions.
I have another plumber installing for $399. No additional fees needed.
Do your homework before you have these guys do work for you.
Home Depot uses them. Hopefully with enough complaints they will get another plumber that is honest and fair to contract their business.
Instead of being thankful and fair for the business they are getting, they are stealing peoples hard earned money.
That's horrible! They are not worth the time I wasted other than getting an education on shady plumbers.

THEY ARE EITHER THE WORST PLUMBERS OR THE BIGGEST CON-ARTISTS OR BOTH. Would give 0 stars if possible.
I'm active duty Navy and I'm stationed out of state, so I'm renting out my house in Gretna. The water line from the hot water heater broke under the slab. My renter showed me it over the phone, his friend assessed it, Choice Home Warranty's plumber looked at it (but they don't do that kind of work), and RotoRooter all said that it is in/under the slab. RotoRooter wouldn't call me back to schedule, but quoted me for $2100.
I hired Pete's just because they were one of the highest rating in the NOLA area and they seemed happy to take on the job. However, the first time the plumber visited, he thought that the leak was not under the slab and could fix it, but not that same day. Even though he was the only person, out of 5 different people, who could not tell that the leak was in the slab, I went with him, again based on high reviews. The price he quoted me to fix the leak was $1200 something. He offered to replace the aging hot water heater for an extra $200 something. $200 something is a great price on a new hot water heater, even though it had absolutely nothing to do with the leak itself and the unit was working perfectly fine, I paid the extra, coming out to be $1465. He told me that if the leak is in fact under the slab it would cost more, but the $1465 would go towards that extra cost.
Then, upon installing the new hot water heater, Pete's finally figured out that the leak is in the slab and he'll need to get a leak detection done, but the $1465 that I already paid him will cover that. After they found the leak, he was saying it would cost $2k to fix. I asked how much of the $1465 that I already paid goes towards that amount, he told me nothing, that what I already paid was used up. He said, though, that at this point I don't owe him anything additional.
So, the water heater only costed me $200 extra, and after calling the leak detect company, I found out they only charge $250. That's only $450, what happened to the rest of the $1015?! It couldn't have been labor because absolutely 0, nada, zilch progress was made to fix the very thing they were hired for- the stupid leak! The only thing I got out of the remaining $1015 was ""you got a leak in the slab"", well thank you Sherlock, but I already told you that before you even came out the first time! It doesn't cost $1015 in labor costs to discover the leak that should've been found during the initial estimate.
I called the office and they told me that I paid $1465 for the leak detect and a new hot water heater. No, that was not the deal, I did not hire them to just put in a hot water heater and have another company find the leak for them but not to fix the leak. Apparently, they thought the old hot water heater, which was working perfectly fine, was my top priority, not the massive leak under my house! Even then, replacing a hot water heater in a garage takes very little labor and I can do that faster than changing my car's oil, I would never have agreed to pay that amount just for a very simple task. I wouldn't even pay $150 for labor on replacing a unit in a flat garage. I asked for a refund because there is no way I used up all $1465 on ""you got a leak in the slab, but here's your $200 hot water heater"", they said they would call me back...still waiting.
I'm going to pursue further action if they are not willing to refund me.

This is the company that installs water heaters for Home Depot. First I called Pete's Plumbing to get a quote for installation and the gave me a price of $699 for an attic installation. A technician came out to survey the job and told me the installation cost will be $2650 due to the size of the water heater (75gal) and the complexity of the location. Even due to the sticker shock, I agreed to pay the inflated price. The work was scheduled for the following Monday and was told that I would be notified when the technicians were on the way. At about 10:00am I called the company and was told me that they would not be out that day due to mechanical issues with their truck, but I had to call them to find this out! The job was rescheduled for the following Thursday.
Shortly after the installation began, I received a call from their office wanting a payment in full for the work. I told them that I was not use to paying for a service that I had not yet received and was not going to pay until the job was complete! The manager threatened to pull his workers off of the job and leave me without hot water (the old water heater had already been taken out of service). I couldn't go without hot water and could not find another plumber to complete the job, so I gave him a credit card.
I will say that I'm satisfied with the water heater and the workman ship of the technicians.
I'm NOT planning to ever do business with Pete's Plumbing again!

Don't ever use Pete's Plumbing. I only heard about them because they were the company Lowes used for installation of their hot water heaters. Pete's Plumbing will try to charge you for upgrades to your home appliances that you don't even need.
Here is the story:
I had two people inspect my hot water heater before Pete's Plumbing came out to inspect. Both plumbers told me that my hot water heater was already up to code and that i just need to get someone to install a new hot water heater. I didn't use them because they both wanted to charge over $500 just to install the new heater.
However, when Pete's plumbing came to my home for the inspection, they told me that it wasn't up to code and that I needed work done in my roof and on the outside. I told Pete's Plumbing that two people came out before him and told me that my house was already up to code. Yet, this guy still told me I needed to get my connections up to code before they could installed my new hot water heater.
I realized that they were trying to make more money off the job. I called Loews to tell them to refund my installation charges and that they should not use Pete's Plumbing ever again.
If you are looking for a plumber call Lyle (contact me for his number). He came to install my hot water heater right away and only charged $200 to install it.

Found this company via The Home Depot while ordering a replacement toilet for a guest bathroom. My back no longer tolerates carrying heavy objects such as a commode and especially up stairs. After they were contacted by HD, Pete's was on the phone to me for particulars on the job and exploring a schedule. As neither of our cars will carry a toilet, Pete's committed to picking it up at HD.
The bathroom is on an upper floor with a lot of wood stair steps and two landings to get there. My concern was safety and preventing incidental damage. Nick assured me he had help on the way to assiste him in removing the old toilet from the house and bringing the new one in. He explained how he would vacuum all water from the old toilet so none could spill onto our floors.
What can I say? It process unfolded just as he said it would and relatively quick. Excellent communications, trained, and professional people. Just what I wanted wehave anotger plumbing project on thd near future and we will certainly bring Pete's Plumbing and Heating, Inc. Into the conversation.
