Their prices are astronomical! They also charged an 85$ fee just for the privilege of hearing how astronomical their prices are! My wife, who made the appointment, was under the impression that they were going to diagnose what was wrong with our slow drain for 85$, but no. They also want to charge $400 to install a toilet that WE provide! It takes less than an hour to install a toilet, so their price per hour is roughly $400! I would not recommend letting these people in your home.

Called them to replace my kitchen sink, faucet, and angle stop. Had all of the replacement parts necessary. The correct sizes and everything already on site. They quoted my 20 year old daughter $3700 and told her they would need to knock out the back wall of my house to install the plumbing. My husband and I installed it in under two hours and didn't need to knock out any walls. Thanks for showing your true colors. Will never recommend or use.

This company has a strong and effective appointment and communication system . today one of their technicians (Russell) did us a huge favor by finding a break in our main drain. He was here for a completely different reason and it would have gone undetected for far too long without his discovery. Thank you Russell!

The technicians came out to my son's girlfriends house and they were told their sewer line was collapsed and the quote was around 8,000.00!! I gave them a name of a very reputable young man who has an excavating company. He did the same work for 1800. What a shame that your prices are soooo high!! Thus isn't the first ridiculous pricing I've heard from your company.

2 stars because their employees do good work. Also 2 stars because their work is extremely overpriced. I paid $30 a month for someone to show up at my house twice a year to ""check"" furnaces and ac units. Definitely not worth it. They give ""membership"" discounts on other services, but their prices are so ridiculous, i.e. you save $30 on this $450 job to install a faucet. Seriously, no joke $450 to install a faucet. Last straw was a quote of $300 to install a single ball valve ($7.00 part) and job would have taken maybe 1/2 hour. Also, on top of that they wanted me to be the one who coordinated entire job with water company. What a joke. Save yourself some money and hire someone else.

Peterman twisted my arm into signing up for their service plain to save me money, which was a gaint joke. They quoted me very close to $5,000 to replace a well pump and pressure tank with a 1 year warranty. I declined quickly called another highly rated family company in the tippecanoe area, that company changed out the pump and pressure tank for $1,890.00 and gave me a 5 warranty on all of it! Do not use Peterman!

I emailed them on the 25th of Jan 2021 with a request for furnace maintenance and to get a quote for a all home humidifier. A rep emailed back asking for our address and contact number. I replied on the 27th of Jan with the information requested. I emailed again on Feb 2nd explaining that I had replied with the requested information a week before with no reply from them. I would say they obviously did not want our business.

Rental home and tenant called with drainage issues. A big plus that they were able to have someone there on Saturday. Spent about 4 hours trying to snake the line and run the camera through. First guy didn't have adequate equipment so waited until guy came from Indianapolis with a better camera. They weren't able to solve the problem with that and suggested that the main drain from the exit of the house to the city connect be replaced. Couldn't schedule that until Tuesday, 3 days later. It's a 60 year old house with clay main that was cracked and had roots. They replaced 10"" section from the exit of the house. That $4150 didn't solve the problem. Left the yard a muddy mess. I was left with probably several hours of yard work to clean up. Plywood would have solved much of this problem. Next step was to tear out the concrete slab in the bathroom and replace the pipes. That was another $3250. Interestingly enough, the pipes they removed didn't have a clog. The clog was apparently between the bathroom and the exterior wall of the house, about 15' between the two new sections. So, 7 days and $7400 later, water is flowing.

I have no doubt that I got hosed on this, but ultimately, they did resolve the issue. Guys were nice and super kudos to Sam, the guy that finished the job. If not for Sam, it would have been 1 star. 5 stars for Sam.

Next time, I'll certainly get another quote, but with having to ask tenant to find someplace to stay for a few days, I was too far in to the process to change course.

Our AC unit was getting some heavy condensation on it, as if something inside was freezing, and we had a guy from Peterman come out to try to figure out what was going on. He probably spent 2 maybe 2.5 hours trying to diagnose the issue. At one point he was on the phone for like an hour with who I can only assume was a person more knowledgeable than him. He finally just told me he didn't know what was wrong with it and that he didn't want to tell me to pay for a replacement of a part that wasn't necessary. Fair enough.

He mentioned that some exhaust pipe that we had was improperly installed because it needed a joint so it could be removed in order to be flushed out periodically. I asked him how much that would cost, and he said $47. I didn't want to cut PVC and try to do it myself, so I told him sure go ahead. He spent 15-20 minutes cutting the PVC pipe and adding a joint to it. He also flushed it out for me. The diagnosis (which didn't yield any results) cost $60. So we were at $107.

Then he told me he had some stuff called A/C Re-New which was similiar to additive you would put in your fuel to flush out your car engine. He assured me it wasn't ""snake oil"" even going as far as showing me YouTube videos of how it works. He said there was a 50/50 chance that it would make my system run normally. I thought well it's just a 4 oz bottle of some liquid he has to put in my system; it can't cost that much money. I asked him to give me a quote on it.

$324.

$324 for them to pour a 4 oz bottle of something in my system.

""But sir it will save you thousands of dollars on future repairs.""

Finally he talks me into it, saving me a few dollars by signing me up for their ""Peterman Protection Club"" ($16/month).

I should have done more research before telling him to do it, but I didn't want to just have him stand there while I try to figure out if him pouring this stuff in my system was worth $324, so I was like whatever I mean 50/50 let's roll the dice on it, and maybe it will stop my system from freezing up. He left my garage, and I thought he was just going out to his vehicle to grab something because he came back in like 2 minutes. He tossed me the empty bottle of A/C Re-New and said, ""alright you're good to go; can you toss that in the trash for me?""

It didn't solve our problem. Our system froze up again the next day. So then I thought let me check out this A/C Re-New stuff.

First of all, the bottle costs $70. Anyone can buy it online. It's not something that's exclusive to HVAC professionals. The special tool that you need to put it in your system is $110. So $180 total. There is a YouTube video that shows you how to put it into your system yourself, and it takes less than 5 minutes, which their employee demonstrated by taking 2 minutes.

So I thought to myself, ""man these people have these tools; they only had to pay for them once, and if they're paying $70 for a can of this stuff (probably paying less because they buy them in bulk), they're making $254 off their customers every time they dump a can of this stuff into their system."" That seems a little outrageous to me because he installed a $2 piece of PVC in my system for $47 and that took him 20 minutes. So 20 minutes of labor costs $45.

But for the A/C Re-New, 2 minutes of labor costs $254?

I called them the next day and explained all of this to them. I even had the owner of the company, Chad Peterman, call me and tell me how they have overhead costs, and they need to pay employees, and he stands by all of their pricing. He told me that they price their services to make 10%-15% profit. That might be the case on some of their services, but when they charge $324 to dump a $70 4 oz can of liquid into your unit, they are making much, much more than 15% profit. You don't need to have a PhD in mathematics to see that.

We had a guy from a different company come out to see if they could figure out why our system was freezing up. Within 10 minutes he discovered the problem. Our return air filter just needed to be replaced. Apparently when your filter is old and clogged, it reduces airflow going into your unit, and because there isn't enough air moving over the coils, they get too cold and freeze up. He sold me the filter for $40 and was even kind enough to waive the diagnostic fee because he felt bad that we already got robbed by Peterman.

The bottom line is this. Peterman Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing might have some nice people working for them, but the people they send to do work at your house might end up wasting 3 hours trying to find a solution when a different company will come and do it in 10 minutes. And that kind of sucks, but sometimes people are new at their job, so it's excusable. What's not excusable is them taking a $70 can of some liquid and charging people $324 to spend 2 minutes putting it in their system.

Chad Peterman is a charlatan who will unapologetically swindle you out of a significant amount of money.
