Company Overview

The journey of Peterman Brothers began in 1986 after Pete, an HVAC professional, recognized subpar service affecting his Beech Grove community. In response, he founded Peterman Heating & Cooling, dedicated to providing outstanding care. His sons, Chad and Tyler, eventually became part of the company. Currently, Peterman Brothers employs over 500 individuals across 10 locations in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, establishing itself as a leading family-owned provider of residential plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical services in the Midwest.

Call peterson's brothers to do electrical work on my home. They showed up while I was at work. I get home they only worked 4hr put in 8 outlets and charge us $1,700. My wife had already payed. I call many times to ask for justification for the bill. They ended up getting mad at me and said they would never work for me again (like I would ever hire them again). DO NOT HIRE THEM!! Crooked company in my opinion. I hired a local electrician and he worked for 3hr got everything fixed charged $350! He said Peterson's brothers ripped me off.

Shame I can't put ""no stars."" Usually, I insist on 3 quotes for ALL work done on my home. I bypassed my usual practice and asked Peterman to clean my tankless water heater this year. My neighbor works for them (by acquisition), & he's a good guy. So why not? Never. Again. I filled out the online form to schedule the service. However, I noticed there was no selection for maintenance with no repair, so I clarified in my notes that I just needed a routine cleaning - everything was working fine, and no repairs were needed. I received an electronic confirmation of my chosen day. The day arrives & a friendly tech calls on his way out. He says he's driving over from very near my home. Upon arriving, the tech looks at the tankless from a distance & says he needs to write me an offer. I was suspicious then because a cleaning should have a standard price. I've typically paid less to a bit more than $100. He hands me a large brochure for service plans ranging anywhere from $16-36/month - none of which interests me. When the tech returns from his truck, he presents me with a price of $400+!!!! But I could ""save"" money if I signed up for the monthly plan of $30. That's it. I told him No Way. He then insisted that I sign for an $85 fee. What $85 fee?! He said it was ""to drive out here."" Seriously? He drove from a distance I run on a routine basis. He did not burn $85 worth of fuel to do it. He insisted I ""knew"" about the fee. I told him I certainly did not and would not sign anything. I called the company only to be again told by the CSR that ""I knew"" about the fee. I told her I knew nothing of the sort. She insisted the fee was for ""diagnosing"" the service. If that's true, Peterman ""diagnoses"" service by looking at your equipment from a distance without removing the screws to look inside! That's a mighty expensive gaze. My next step was to file a complaint with the Attorney General. I am very concerned about this practice - especially how it can impact the elderly and more vulnerable. To expect a service at a market price only to be price gauged, manipulated toward an expensive service plan, & then told I ""know"" about a fee I ""know"" nothing about is nothing short of a deceptive consumer trade practice. Apparently, Peterman has some inconspicuous, hidden fee language attached to its online scheduling form. Peterman then boldly billed me via email and included the $400+ estimate with a note from the tech saying I was ""considering it."" Since Peterman knows what I ""know,"" they should recognize a flat NO from me in plain American English as not being anywhere near ""considering it."" I guess not. I then went to Angi's and asked for quotes for cleaning with a note that the quote must be free, in writing, and with no service plans or ""show up"" fees attached. I received just such a quote from Allen Home Services. Not only did they answer me immediately, but they also confirmed in writing the next day and gave me same-day service! The techs from Allen also reviewed each step of what they did for me and noted, as I suspected, that all is in good shape with my equipment. Even if I have to pay Peterman their $85 to leave me alone (oh - there are fees attached to that fee payment, too, if they deem me late!), that combined with what I paid Allen (a flat $129) is less than half of Peterman's original quote. Allen Home Services gives 5-star service! Peterman - not so much.

BEWARE! Paid these guys $11,000 for a new HVAC system in November of 2020. It gets serviced every 6 months. Peterman Brothers came out on December 2, 2022 for the Fall service. The guy brought the capacitor to me and told me it was out of range. They sold me an $11,000 system and wanted over $200.00 to replace a part you can buy on Amazon for less than $15.00. So instead of installinging a new $15.00 capacitor, he put the old one back in. It would have required the same amount of labor to put in a new one. And forget about their 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee - means nothing. When I called to lodge my complaint I was told a ""Customer Experience"" rep would call me. Never called. I called back and asked for the ""Customer Experience"" rep who said she needed more time to look into my issue and would call me back. Never called me back.

A year ago, we signed up for their service plan for our daughter, which is $12/month, because we don't live in Indiana. Last Friday they installed a new air conditioner. They had to remove the furnace in order to complete the installation. When my daughter got up this morning, the furnace wouldn't come on (it's only about 2 years old). It was 63° in her house at that time. It's going to get down to 29° tonight. When she called Peterman, she was told by a very rude person, named ""Denesha"" they could come out until tomorrow. She explained that they did something wrong to the furnace 2 days before. No matter. They can't help her. I them called, not very happy, and also talked to the snotty Denesha. I wanted to speak to a lead tech, but no, I got her office mate. She was also not nice. Can't help. Doesn't even want to try and help. If my daughter's pipes freeze tonight, I guess they'll want to charge her for that too. Terrible response for something they caused. Let's see if the owner bothers to call me about this situation they caused and refused to come out today to remedy it.

Don't use this company. They will rip you off. They charged me $2200 to replace a 50 gal gas water heater, which is at least $1000 more than I should have paid. I found out later that this water heater is less than $1000, and when I asked for a breakdown of where the other charges came from, I got no response. I was told someone from the ""Customer Experience"" team would call me back and I'm still waiting. I feel they took advantage of me because I'm a female.

Update, it took two months to get fixed and had to be reinstalled multiple times. I do not recommend this company.

Completely unacceptable service. I waited two weeks for peterman brothers to be able to have the time to install my garage disposal. the technicians were professional and helpful; however, in less than 24 hours a pipe they hooked up was leaking under my sink. I called peterman brothers office and asked for a technician to please come and fix it . Today is Friday and no one can make it until Tuesday and of next week. this is completely unacceptable...I paid a pretty hefty price for an inferior job. Where is the customer service with this company. My suggestion is to call a different plumbing company!

Back in 2020 I paid Peterman Brother's approximately 15,000 dollars to install a new heating and AC system in my house. I negotiated a 10 year warranty on the system. Until today, the coldest day of 12/23/2022 with -9 degrees, Peterman has been good. I woke up in the house and felt it was rather cold, and checked the temperature inside the house. It was 56 degrees. I checked to ensure that the heat was on and set at 70, and it was. I called Peterman and they told me that they could have someone out on 12/29/2022...yes, almost a full week later, they could have someone out to the house to fix their 2-year old furnace that has a 10-year warranty on the coldest day of the year at -9 degrees without wind chill. That is the vaunted 'customer service' of Peterman and their treatment of customers who paid them 15,000 dollars. I have had updated maintenance of the AC/furnace every 6 months and the last check was on 10/27/2022 when the technician told me that everything was working great. I wish that I would have went with a different company now, paid half of what I paid Peterman and actually had good service when it matters. I know that they were probably busy from the extreme cold, but as a customer for several years that paid a lot of money for a brand new system with a 10-year warranty, I expected better treatment. Don't use this company. I am filing formal complaints with them with different agencies to try to make sure they don't do this to other people like my family that has a 2 year old and a 7 year old in the house freezing and shivering while we scramble to get them warm.

The installation crew didn't check to make sure they had connected power correctly. The furnace went out less than 30 minutes after it was installed, and that is when Peterman got extremely problematic - not wanting to send people out for multiple days, initially saying that nobody could come out for 4 days. Once they agreed to send someone the second day (after arguing with me for 45+ minutes) they then cancelled without telling me, and acted confused when I called and was upset that nobody showed up to the appointment.
My youngest son woke me up worried about how cold his bedroom got, and there was nothing I could do except give him extra blankets, because Peterman brothers couldn't be bothered to fix their mistake in a reasonable time frame.
