I'm very disappointed with Peterman's I had scheduled a day to get my water softener fixed but because they had too many emergency calls (people paying a $100 for a service now). They said they had to reschedule, I would under if I just made the appointment that day, but this appointment was made 3 weeks ago.
Jordan H.There's something about owning a home that causes you to have an immense fear that the sound you just heard is actually a massive money pit opening up. Peterman has brought us some piece of mind though and we love working with them. We had them come to check out our AC and the team was prompt, super nice, and took great care of us. I have been really impressed with their commutation which makes booking them to come out and follow-up near seamless. We opted for a yearly plan with them so that we can keep on top of things throughout the year. Wouldn't go to anyone else!
Company website appears to change every few days, and critical reviews seem miraculously to disappear, so I am writing this review in the hope that it sticks around. Please do not use or trust this company. They did bad work at my property replacing a water line, and charged me a lot for the privilege. They bust the sewer line in the process, which wasn't surprising given the speed at which they worked. When I asked questions, I was not taken seriously. I was promised a refund for diagnostic work performed on the sewer line by another company after Peterman bust it, but have not heard a thing from them about this refund. To their credit, Peterman Brothers did come and repair the sewer line, at which point it became apparent that the first two technicians really should've spotted the damage before filling the trench back in.... Horrible sales pitch, which involved getting me to pay money upfront to ""secure the spot,"" which raised alarm bells that I foolishly ignored. I should have waited a week longer for a decent company to do this work for me. I repeat: please avoid this company. I wish I were in San Francisco, but unfortunately I am in Bloomington, IN.
B H.I'll let you decide whether this is overpriced. I believe it is.
Background: Koehler single handle shower, water not getting hot. I communicated during service scheduling I believed it was the cartridge that needed replacing, which turned out to be accurate.
Invoice explanation-
""Diagnosis fee"" $85.00
""Labor & materials"" $305.95
""Overhead expenses"" $244.76

doing business with Peterman brothers for 11 years. started by getting a hvac complete unit with heat pump when our went out. we started having issues where our machine was not cooling the house and was completely freezing up outside. They came out and said they needed to replace a part. We were under warranty so at this point no cost to us. This continues for about three months, coming out changing many parts basically rebuilding the entire unit inside and the unit outside including the lines and all still nothing. Then change the whole air handler. Then wanted to change the heat pump after already changing all the parts. It's 5 pm on a Wednesday and my husband ask them to remove everything they had installed and refund our money and we will go somewhere else. Because we have missed way to much work at this point. They said they could just remove everything and put in a new everything.. By this time fall had come upon us and we didn't use much of the A/C part of the system until spring the following year. And we began to have the same issue. They came back out and said they need to change our thermostat because the fancy one we got was having issues and they ended up giving us a simple one. They issue resolved. Over the years we have called them out for different things a few times for a wet filter. The first two times they came out they flushed the drain, and it fixed the wet filter issue.
Over the years I do not think they have come out and fixed whatever issue we had in one visit. Always trying to upsell us something! t they have been out at our home nearly 70 times in 11 years which should have been approx. 22 times for spring and fall maintenances.
Now on to this last issue. We had a wet filter again this year called them out first visit on may 3rd 6 visits (EVERYTIME A DIFFERENT TECH) by July 8th for the SAME issue still NOT resolved by this time it's a wet filter! On first visit and EVERY visit after we let them know that the first two times, we had a wet filter issue they cleaned out the drain and it fixed the issue. Once one of the techs addressed it then the last one but everyone said they did not think it could be the drain, that was impossible. During those times they cut a whole in the side of our air handler because they claimed that there was air restriction causing condensation to drip on the filter. this was no drip, filter was completely wet and folded up in the bottom of our machine after an hour of running. we waited a few days as instructed by them to see if that worked. It did not, so they suggested a duct cleaning to improve air flow to fix the issue. We paid over $800 dollars to clean out ducts we asked them to close the hole in the side. The filter is still wet. They say the blower wheel needed clean and it would cost us over $400 but we had already paid for it because we only had to pay $75 if we added it to the duct cleaning but when they came to clean ducts, they did not send someone to clean the wheel. They ended up cleaning the blower wheel for the $75 as first quoted. All that and filter still wet, still have a hole in the side. Then come back to close up the hole they say the coli needs chemically cleaned that it would be several hundreds of dollars after everyone before that day told us that the coil was clean that it couldn't be the problem. during that time, they told us they removed the damper to also improve air flow. Still wet filter. Finally, Tech comes out and looked at the drain again and thought it would be a good idea to call Bryant the manufacturer and see what the specks were on exactly how the drained should have been built. He rebuilt the whole drain with Bryant on the phone and just like that no more wet filter. What was it the whole time? The drain, that they built NOT at manufacturers specifications when they installed it for the second time 8 years ago. turn on the heat and all of our heat is going upstairs and there is an 11-degree difference from upstairs to downstairs. So, we call them again and ask them to re install the damper they removed. December 1st they looked at it and turns out they had not removed it they had tightened it into the open position so when the tech tried to close it the handled broke off. he says we need to remove it completely and give it a week and the whole house should regulate in temperature. But that didn't make sense because according to them it was tightened open, so the flow was open anyway. A week later still very cold we call them again. Because at this point, we now have our furnace set at 4 degrees higher than usual and we are not even in cold winter temps yet and we have two heaters running on the lower floor we have never had to do. they tell me it is going to cost me $230 dollars to fix a damper that they broke while not fixing the original issue a wet filter. I call the office and they say someone from ""Customer Experience"" will be calling me. Here we are 6 days later and still no call back
Tia T.I woke up a few days again to a gurgling sound in my toilet as I was taking a shower. I didn't think much of it, thought it was a clogged drain from hair, I have long curly hair.
Come to find out my sewer is clogged. I called on Sunday. My mom swears by this company. Someone could have come out but I waited until Monday morning. The gentleman were very nice. Educated me along the way and made sure I understood what was happening and why they were doing what they were doing. I've got roots in the line and old clay pipes going out to the sewer line.
I was offered a great deal with good financing. They will be starting work within 48 hours.
Thank god for Petermans. It feels good to have a company you can trust that's honest and explains how things work. Best of all, they do it all: Air conditioning, plumbing, electric, HVAC, water heater.
This could have been a bad day but I feel relieved.
Had them to come out to service an AC unit that was purchased from them 7 years ago. Was given a quote of $2500. Called a friend of a friend and $125 later, the problem was resolved.
I've used these guys several times; unfortunately on my part. They did a plumbing inspection and an AC replacement for me and I was very pleased. So I contracted them to do a gas line for my grill on my patio - bad idea. Took them over a week to contact us back. That's assuming they do contact me
Ask to see their plumber's license. They mostly don't have one.
Sloppy work, never fixed my problem and charged a lot.
Get a real plumber.
I made an appointment on 08/16 for 08/17, the 4 hour window promised. I received a text and email reminder so I could be available. I did not hear from the company until after the window of time passed and no updates were given during the 8-12 pm window that was reserved.
