Petcosky & Sons Plumbing, Heating & A/C
Company Overview
At Petcosky & Sons, we take pride in being the community's go-to source for plumbing, heating, and air conditioning for over 50 years. Our family has been committed to serving the local and regional area for three generations. Since our founding in 1957 by Paul Petcosky, we have been a family-run business. Our journey began with a two-person plumbing business in a garage, which has evolved into a much larger operation.
The industry has seen remarkable changes since Paul Petcosky started his plumbing business in 1957. What was once a two-man operation has now grown to include over 30 dedicated employees. Our expert technicians work from a cutting-edge facility that features a well-stocked warehouse and parts department. We are here to demonstrate everything the HVAC and plumbing industry can provide. As a family-owned business since our inception, our mission has evolved over 56 years. We have moved beyond just replacing old systems or addressing leaks to becoming experts in the latest technology. Our team at Petcosky & Sons is here to guide you through the available options and help you understand the incentives and rebates that can make upgrading to a more efficient system more affordable. Since our founding, our commitment to detail and customer satisfaction has always been our top priority.
Mike has spent his whole life in the plumbing, heating, and air conditioning field. Starting at the age of 12, he helped his father manage the family business. Mike enrolled at SUNY Delhi in 1979 to study plumbing and heating. Upon graduating in 1981, Mike sought to take the family business to new heights. To meet the demands of an expanding clientele, he broadened the business to offer heating and cooling services and secured various master plumber licenses and certifications. Mike's dream became a reality in 1987 when Petcosky & Sons was formally incorporated. Mike is still engaged in the daily management of the business. For almost 35 years, he has also contributed to the community as a volunteer firefighter and assistant fire chief.

santosh m.I got HVAC maintenance done in March and there is one room that's not getting the heat. I wanted to see what they suggest and asked if I could speak to the guy who did the maintenance. They are like, we can send a tech and we will charge you again. I asked again if Its one room it's gotta be a duct and want to see if he could help or if it could be something else and then decide about a tech visit. She is like they are on service and cannot speak but we could send a tech to look at it. She does not even know if the problem can be dealt by them or someone else who deals with ducts but would like to send a tech.
That helped to figure how much service oriented they are. I don't know if they are running losses or they are just thirsty, but definitely not service oriented. I do business as well, but never this shameful way.
No, I would not recommend Petcosky.
One star is one too many. The company's motto is ""Ready to Help, Whenever You Need Us"". Well that is a joke. I needed a new ejector pump for my holding tank of my sewer. I was a desperate home owner. I called Petcosky and Sons and was honest to say that I've called a few other people and I was looking for someone to come over to see if they could fix my problem. The guy on the phone proceeded to laugh at me on the phone and was rather rude to me with his response. I can't go any further with my review as I hung up on the man.
Too bad your rudeness made you lose out on a small fortune.
Totally satisfied and more. Woke up to find my house at 49 degrees this morning (early March!). Called at 7AM. Even the answering service was great. Darrell (sorry, didn't ask how to spell his name) arrived by 8:30AM with an assistant, Matt. Problem solved. Everything was explained to me in layman's terms so I understood what had to be replaced and why annual servicing would have saved me from this. They didn't leave until checking all the radiators and making sure everything was all back up and running. Can't recommend them more highly.
I used them to put in a new furnace.
No one else in the area would even talk to me for at least 2 weeks, when my furnace died and it was November and cold.
A gentleman that was not an estimator came to get info so that he could take it
back to the office and get me a quote, as they estimators were all booked for that day.
I had my furnace in and working within a week, a week shorter than anyone else would
even talk to me.
BUYER BEWARE!!! Took advantage of flood victims and refuse to service their own garbage equipment. Sold us a lemon. Buy from Economy Heating they are much better!
Dar B.We had an emergency very early this morning when our hot water heater started spewing water out of its top. I called Petcosky and Son's and Dave came over around 6AM and had the lines to the water heater shut off. He had them call us a little later with an estimate and he was back at our house at 12:30. They took great care to make sure none of our carpets got any water damage when they took the old water heater out. By a little after 4, we had the old heater taken out and the new one installed. Dave and the other guys he had with him were very professional and very personable. My husband and I will recommend Petcosky and Sons to all of out friends in neighbors.
Carl and Mack of Petcosky & Sons recently installed a new boiler for me. I am 83 years of age and had loads of installations in my life time. I have never seen such a magnificent job done. Not only the installation but the cleanup also. They are fortunate to have such men working for them. I would highly recommend this company for any plumbing or heating concerns. - G Fachner
Petcosky has always been there when we needed help with our plumbing and heating needs. The recently installed a hot water heater for our rental unit. They gave us a fair estimate, the install was done without issue and They cleaned up after they finished. Thank you Petcosky for taking such good care of us
Cindy B.I'm posting this for my grandfather who Petcosky & Sons tried to take advantage of nearly a year ago. They said that he needed a new furnace since his heat exchanger was broken. He got a second opinion from Fancher who did a thorough check up and said that nothing was wrong. When he asked Fancher specifically about the heat exchanger, he said that the heat exchanger was actually the best part of the whole furnace.
When my grandfather refused to get a new furnace they tried to scare him into getting a new furnace by sending him a letter releasing them of any liability if there was carbon monoxide poisoning. It's months later and there has been no problems with the furnace or carbon monoxide (he has multiple detectors).
Clearly this is an example of a popular local business trying to take advantage of the elderly. Hopefully this is an isolated case, but please let it be a lesson to get a second opinion.
