if I could give no stars to this company I would. I am not sure where they got my number to begin with, but a lady called repeatedly to schedule an A/C summer tune up for $59, a special they were running. I said no numerous times, but she kept calling. I finally gave in, figuring it would be good to have it checked out. I scheduled an appointment for 8am-12pm on a day when I knew I would be home. I got a call the day before telling me that a technician would be at my house at some point in the afternoon. I politely told the lady that I had to work in the afternoon, hence the reason I scheduled the appointment for the morning. She told me me those times are not guaranteed. Then why am I making an appointment? She told me I could reschedule. I asked to please have a morning time, since I work in the afternoons. She again told me that those times are not guaranteed. Really? She was not apologetic at all either. I opted to not reschedule and after reading other reviews, I am glad they are not coming to service my A/C.

Shyster ( /astr/) is a slang word for acting in a disreputable, unethical, or unscrupulous way, especially in the practice of law, politics or business.

I think I need to have my head examined. When our AC unit quit working on Sunday, I asked my wife to call Perry H/C to schedule a technician to come out and repair it. These are the same SHYSTERS that sold me the over-priced, over-computerized Trane AC unit to begin with.

First, we had to pay $189 over the phone when my wife called to schedule the technician. This fee was just to secure that a tech would be scheduled to come fix the unit the day we called. It was referenced as an ""Emergency Service Fee"". Otherwise, we wouldn't be scheduled for diagnostic/repair technician for two weeks.

In Arizona, where it's already topping 90 degrees this first week in May, if at all possible, families will come up with whatever ""emergency service fee"" is set by a company. I felt that Perry H/C was taking advantage from the start. But we let that slide.

The technician did arrive at 6:30pm, same day. We called that Monday morning at 7am.

Perry H/C pushes Trane AC units like crazy, of course top of the line etc., you'd think they'd have techs that know how to fix them!?!

The tech arrived, stomped around on our roof for around an hour, then came down wearing a very long face to inform us that we were in serious trouble. He cleaned our coil (clock seems more appropriate here) for $398! He also mentioned we would find the pile of dirty lint etc. that he cleaned off the coil dropped down from the roof by the side of the house . . . we have not been able to find it.

He changed out a capacitor for $105.60! He also charged us the standard $129.99 diagnostic fee, but was kind enough to apply a $50 internet coupon to help dull the sting of additional bad news!

He informed us that our main compressor was not working, and that we'd need to replace it; the additional cost for this he said could run $1,200 minimum for the compressor and $1,400 for labor and Freon! He said he would call us in the morning to confirm purchase of the compressor.

The next morning we called the Perry H/C main office to check on our warranty -- since we had just made our last payment on the unit the previous month!!! It was 5 years and 2 months old. We figured, maybe at least the compressor is covered. That will take about $1,200 off the bill.

However, more long faces on our end -- I think the receptionist at Perry H/C actually took pleasure in telling us that our Trane unit had a complete warranty -- that -- unfortunately had also expired completely at the 5 year mark.

#$&^%$#!!!!

So after careful consideration (and tequila shots), we decided to get a second opinion.

A friend recommended we use their AC tech. Calling him was the best decision we've made in a long time!

His conclusion: our compressor was fine -- he felt it was evident that the Perry H/C tech was in over his head with our unit, albeit a complicated unit, higher tech than most. However, if Perry H/C pushes these units, shouldn't their techs know all the ins and outs of them???

Final diagnostic by our new AC tech: Compressor was fine! What was bad was the compressor's ""kick-start unit"". He also corrected rewiring mistakes that the Perry H/C tech had made with relay wiring (we think in an attempt to figure out what was going on with the unit.)

Final bill from new AC tech including use of all brand name parts/nothing aftermarket: $355.00!!!!!

Our advice.... If you're looking for honesty from a service provider, you won't find it at Perry H/C!

Completely different experience than the first reviewer, made the appointment for a Monday service on our gas fireplace, they called the Friday before with a time they would be out. Arrived within the time window, in uniform the service man (Steve) was polite and professional, completed the service and reviewed what he had done with me, confirmed that I understood how to operate the unit since I told him at the beginning of the service call I had never had a fireplace like this one before. The cost was exactly what I had been quoted over the phone when I made the appointment. I would definitely use these guys again.

TERRIBLE customer service. we were scheduled for air conditioning inspection and servicing on a wednesday afternoon. my husband took an hour off work after they confirmed they were coming out, only to have no one show up. we rescheduled for friday, a day after their rebates expired, because they assured us they would still apply because of the inconvenience.
after showing up a half hour late, the technician hadn't heard we were getting rebates and no manager or dispatcher was around (at 2:30pm? seriously!) to confirm/authorize charge deductions. what a waste of time.

p.s. we found these guys through home depot, where they were known as ""orangutan"" heating and cooling. if you google orangutan heating and cooling for tucson, you get orangutantucson.com that takes you to these guys. nom de plum or bad service?

So my AC compressor went out and there started the journey of finding an honest HVAC place to fix it. It seems everyone just wants to replace it. Oh bear in mind it's still under a dang warranty, so yeah not feeling good vibes from this industry. Well I call Perry because they put the AC in and it's under the warranty. This was the 3rd estimate and I told them from the start I'm not interested in replacing the AC just getting the warranty fix done.

So the good is that they had the cheapest estimate, well that was the first thing the salesman/repair tech said, but before I had a chance to discuss this estimate he jumped into the hard sell on getting a new AC, basically convincing me that the repair will just fail so instead of paying 3k to fix it I should give them 3 times that to replace a Trane under warranty.

He was so good at convincing me he believed the repair will fail that I believed they would just make sure it failed. So even though they had the best initial estimate I didn't believe I could trust them to do the repair.

We have done business with this company for over 20 years now. Our technician, Steve, is always friendly and courteous. That should be the norm for anyone involved in customer service- but, not everyone can make that claim. We can!

This technician actually cares about his customers and this is always seen in the quality of his workmanship. He is honest and does his best for us. All of our expectations have been consistently exceeded. Thank you Steve and Perry Heating and Cooling.

My house received new duct work by Perry but subsequently I had two other companies and two other contractors review the work. They couldn't tell that new work was performed and based on the pics they gave me as well as leaves and insulation just obviously sitting on the floor and in the vents and ducts that Perry didn't clean the ducts after installation which I'm told is normal practice. I called the Perry company and never received a returned call. I cannot recommend this company.

I've been using Perry Heating and Cooling for years. To service an older AC unit or buy a new one. They are punctual, reasonably priced and give excellent service. Jordan came out today and gave me my options and made may AC unit work like new again. Quality Service at a great value. Very Happy!

Jordan delivered on quality, service and his word. This was a long process as I vetted many companies to replace my aging heating and air conditioning system. I never felt like I was being sold a product like with other companies, and he delivered when he said he would!

I have used Perry's twice, both times they gave great advice and provided the products appropriate for me. The installers are professional and courteous. They show up on time which is rare these days but important to me.
