Dave Haley was the plumbing subcontractor on the remodel of my kitchen (contractor was Tyler Brooks). I'm very pleased with the kitchen remodel work done by Tyler and his subcontractors. When the toilet in a spare bathroom needed repair, I called Dave (having met him through Tyler), and Dave rebuilt the toilet at a cost exceeding $500 (it's a Toto toilet, the Volvo of toilets in terms of repairs). The toilet was little used until my daughter returned home for a month before moving to Los Angeles. A week or so later, my downstairs tenant reported a leak in the apartment ceiling. Another plumber had done some work for me recently and I asked him to look at the leak. He traced the leak to the Toto toilet that Dave had rebuilt. When he removed the Toto to locate the leak, he saw that Dave had neglected to replace the wax seal beneath the toilet. He showed me the error and we took several photographs to document the oversight. The replacement of the ring (but mostly the labor of diagnosing the problem) and repair of the wet drywall have been extremely costly.

When I called Dave to explain what had happened, he merely stated he would not have made this mistake. The facts prove otherwise. Dave me in general be a good plumber, but this was an omission and it cost me a sizable sum. Dave refusal to even engage with me about it--to comment on the photos and even admit the possibility of an error--was deeply disappointing and revealed a complete lack of integrity on his part.

I would recommend NOT hiring Dave Haley for plumbing work.
