Josh S.The service here is Amazing.
I needed replacement bolts for an ancient Boiler circulator Pump and also a radiator key so I figured I'd give this place a try ... not really thinking I'd find what I needed. (I'm used to multiple trips to multiple stores)
I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked in and he basically got me in and out of here in less than 5minutes with everything that I needed.
I was also given some tips and advice on how to properly install them into the Boiler. Amazing. Astonishing really. Service like that ? this day in age ? Try getting help like that at Home Depot or Lowes. Ain't happening.
This review had to be written.
This place deserves some attention and more business.
If you want help or advice with a current project, shop here. If you want a home town atmosphere and enough small talk to make you feel welcome and comfortable with a large selection of product, shop here. Alittle pricey? Yes, but I'd rather be steered in the right direction and buy something once than head out to the bigger stores and wait for service from an unqualified, impatient and often lazy worker who needs 3 opinions to tell me whether my project is doable. It's nice to see a store take pride in its customer service in a time when the majority couldn't care less. This is my go to spot. If the bigger stores are your thing, that's great, but if you had a bad experience here it's most likely because you're an impatient, unqualified, lazy person and you're out of your comfort zone.
They would not take a return of a faulty product for credit or replacement. They were disrespectful to me, as well. Home Depot or Lowes are better.
Sabrina D.I will start by saying the service is excellent, but their prices are WAY WAY higher than any big box hardware store. Its cheaper to take the drive to Home depot, or even Lowes which is still higher the the Depot, but still extremely cheaper than Penn.
K M.Excellent experience here. I liked their selection, the guy who copied keys for me was very helpful and friendly, and the woman at the register was very kind and helpful as well. Prices were a little higher than big box stores of course, but worth it. Loved the old old floors. I'm appalled by the racist reviews on this place - ignore them, it's a good spot and you shouldn't hesitate to shop here!
Christina S.I can't believe all the racist reviews! This place is great! Everyone, including the male Asian owner, is extremely helpful in this store! I can't stand going to Home Depot/Lowes, where the ""real Americans"" work because of their real lack of customer service! Whenever I go to penn treaty hardware I always am greeted by someone who wants to help. God Bless America that anyone from anywhere can still come here and set up shop if they are willing to work hard enough! Like I said this place is great, their prices are competitive with the big box stores and they're conveniently located. I love going to this store.
Shannon M.I felt the same way as Kev and the last yelper when I walked in there today. I was surprised to see the rude Asian female behind the counter. The outside appearance gave you the impression that older white people owned it. But a nice white gentleman made sure to approach me, greeting me and made sure I walked away happy with my purchase and a little small talk. I would give this place a higher review if they didn't lose my front door screen/frame over the summer due to lack of organization.
Nate D.horrible... went in looking for mop head replacement. not seeing one I needed I left. at the door lady comes out from behind the counter to block me In two other workers come up behind me.. I was made to empty.my pockets open my jacket. accused of stealing what a broom you asked what I was looking for I told you you pointed me In the direction i didnt see what i needed and I went to leave... so much for friendly neighborhood hardware store... I will never go in again. I don't care how far I have to go to get hardware needs met. I will not and suggest you don't ever go in again...
I have gone to this store for years for odds and ends, keys paint, today went in to get a screen repaired. I have a duplex and the last tenant somehow bent the frame and there is a hole in the screen they were locked out and did some damage trying to get back in. The gentlemen who is American said come in he back and I can give you a price. He gave me a price that I thought was high but going local I thought it was worth the extra money. then he said I can give you a better screen metal not fiberglass. the fiberglass is junk and the metal will last longer. I sad the screen is 15 years old I think it help up pretty well the last tenant got locked out and trying to break in they bent the screen, He said if I know you were a land lord I would charge you 3 times more. It is because of people like me that the neighborhood is going down hill, I am very careful who I rent to, how dare he say any thing to me. the screen had a small hole and I was getting it repaired. I keep the place clean and repaired. I was so upset when I left there was a guy standing outside and he said he was getting something but was waiting for a friend who went to MAC for money, the store clerk said to him, you know you need more than $10.00 in the machine before they give you cash. The owners just stood there and said nothing when I said I will not spend another dine in this store. this person should be fired. He has no idea what the building looks like or who I am. they need to sell hardware and not judge people
Tara G.I would go to this place over Home Depot or Lowes any day of the week. I'm always greeted as soon as I walk in and the employees always know where everything is located in the store. They even offer advice when I need it. The store seems really small from the outside, but I've honestly never left here empty-handed and they always have everything I need. Sure, maybe they're not American-owned, but so what? That's part of the American dream, so I think people should lay off them. They run an honest, local business that offers good, affordable products and it is 100 times better than their evil corporate counterparts.
