This place is horrible. I bought a part for a washer and wasn't sure it would fit so the guy told me if it didn't fit just bring it back., of course it wasn't what I needed. I brought it back the next day and they wouldn't refund my money. The lady at the register may have been the rudest person ever. She argued with me and even know the guy was right there and told her he said I could bring it back, she would not refund my money. I finally got store credit so I had to walk around the store looking for items I may have needed. I couldn't find anything so I just got random items that I didnt really need. Did I mention the lady at the register was NASTY. Never go here. I will never step foot in this store again.

I've never been so insulted in my life, I'm a contractor 55 years old, walk in there with an antique mortise lock that I need a new Tumblr, find the aisle with the locks looking at the little boxes trying to match it up exactly the one I have and the Asian owner comes over and screams at me you know touch nothing, put that down you know touch nothing I touch everything, Im like dude really, he said you need leave, so I called him some things i cant say here, i have lived in this neighborhood for 15 years, I will never return,

I went in to buy a toilet seat. The guy helps me. I told him I need a round one, big. The one I got was the same size as the one I have already. So I go back to exchange. The guy says, I don't accept toilet seats back. I'm like, so throw it away then, I don't want it. Do I go to buy another one with the guy right behind me saying if you have a round toilet then only one will fit. What if I want to put one on the that is bigger or oblong? Should be my decision. This guy was needs to back off and let people buy what they want. You would think he would want more business. Bad service and a bully. Talks too much like he's on drugs.

Won't find any of this stuff at Home Depot. They stock what you need, if you live in Mayfair or Holmesburg. Forget Lowe's, come here & support Local Businesses

I recently tried to return an unused electric mousetrap unaware that this is an item that cannot be returned. When I walked in a young man teased me when I said I wanted to return the item - saying ""did the mouse walk out?"" The cashier questioningly said to 2 employees standing at the front of the store ""This item can't be returned, can it?"" Another employee said ""Nah - you were told when you bought it it couldn't be returned."" When I said I had not been told, he said ""Yes, you were."" I was not told this information at the time of the sale.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense that this is an item that can't be returned but that was not explained to me at the time of purchase and I certainly expect to be treated courteously no matter what the situation.

The service here is Amazing.

I needed replacement bolts for an ancient Boiler circulator Pump and also a radiator key so I figured I'd give this place a try ... not really thinking I'd find what I needed. (I'm used to multiple trips to multiple stores)

I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked in and he basically got me in and out of here in less than 5minutes with everything that I needed.

I was also given some tips and advice on how to properly install them into the Boiler. Amazing. Astonishing really. Service like that ? this day in age ? Try getting help like that at Home Depot or Lowes. Ain't happening.

This review had to be written.
This place deserves some attention and more business.

If you want help or advice with a current project, shop here. If you want a home town atmosphere and enough small talk to make you feel welcome and comfortable with a large selection of product, shop here. Alittle pricey? Yes, but I'd rather be steered in the right direction and buy something once than head out to the bigger stores and wait for service from an unqualified, impatient and often lazy worker who needs 3 opinions to tell me whether my project is doable. It's nice to see a store take pride in its customer service in a time when the majority couldn't care less. This is my go to spot. If the bigger stores are your thing, that's great, but if you had a bad experience here it's most likely because you're an impatient, unqualified, lazy person and you're out of your comfort zone.

They would not take a return of a faulty product for credit or replacement. They were disrespectful to me, as well. Home Depot or Lowes are better.

I will start by saying the service is excellent, but their prices are WAY WAY higher than any big box hardware store. Its cheaper to take the drive to Home depot, or even Lowes which is still higher the the Depot, but still extremely cheaper than Penn.

Excellent experience here. I liked their selection, the guy who copied keys for me was very helpful and friendly, and the woman at the register was very kind and helpful as well. Prices were a little higher than big box stores of course, but worth it. Loved the old old floors. I'm appalled by the racist reviews on this place - ignore them, it's a good spot and you shouldn't hesitate to shop here!
