Pell has been good in the past, however, recently we had a clogged toilet and paid over $200 for repairs. The toilet worked OK for a few weeks however, it again became clogged. we had to call another plumber who fixed it, and told us Pell had not gone into the pipes far enough. We had to once again pay over $200. We contacted Pell with no response. And we had been loyal customers.

My friend was going to our cabin. The water had been turned off. He tried to turn it on, and it seemed to be leaking like crazy.

I did, and he responded--and then proceeded to text and call with me and my friend to solve our issue while simultaneously heading to a holiday show with his family.

He talked my friend through the solve, and did it all for free.

I own a 2nd home at Alpine Meadows and my renter texted me on a Friday night saying they don't have hot water. On Saturday morning, I called another local Tahoe City plumber (Tahoe Best Plumbing) who was away but recommended another plumber at Squaw Valley (North Lake Plumbing). As soon as North Lake Plumber (Ken) heard that this water heater was a high-altitude water heater I had purchased from Ace Hardware in Truckee, he said I would just be throwing good money after bad, and he refused to even go see this problem unless I agreed to replacing the entire water heater with a water heater he carries and he would install. His solution, without looking at the problem, was to replace my 6-year new high altitude propane water heater, and he quoted $2,000.

I thought it might have been a thermo couple problem but he refused to work on any water heater purchased from any hardware stores (like Ace Hardware in Truckee).

I called Ace Hardware and they were surprised to learn this. They recommend me to Mike. When I called Mike, rather than saying it's a Saturday and it would cost more (like Ken from North Lake), he asked me to send him some photos of the heater label, the heating assembly, and within 1 hour of me calling him, Mike promptly came to my place on a Saturday and fixed the problem.

He then said: let's give it a day and see if your renters report any issues. Totally professional!

Then on Sunday night, after my renters checked out with no problems, then then sent me a text detailing his work, and indeed, it was a thermo couple issue like I thought, which he replaced on a Saturday at a very reasonable price of less than $200.

I would absolutely use Mike again and again and will strongly recommend him to anyone I know. He has just become my ""Go-To guy"" for all other plumbing jobs for the properties I own up in the Tahoe area.

I will be posting another review for this other plumber from North Lake Plumbing. Stay tuned.

Great, knowledgeable and timely service. It was late Friday and my shower would not produce hot water. I called Pell at 4:30 p.m. and left a message. Mike Pell texted back after 5 p.m. and asked for a picture of the problem I described in my message. [I was capable enough to take off the plate covering the valve myself so he could see a photo, barely.] Mike Pell called me at 6 p.m. and walked me through what I could do to determine if I could fix it without more. He walked me through the process (not even on Face Time) and IT WORKED! Pell Plumbing and Son are my plumbers for life.

We purchased our home in Tahoe Donner at the beginning of 2018. The master bathroom had a massive jet tub but no shower. Mike installed a customized shower rod system as there was nothing available off the shelf for a tub of this shape. Looks great. Later he installed a hose bib on our deck and a new dishwasher in the kitchen (when Home Depot decided they could/would not). We've got nothing but great things to say about Mike and the service he provides.
