In 1956, R.B. (Bob) Payne and his son R.W. (Bill) Payne started Payne Plumbing and Sanitation Company. They specialized in septic tanks and rural plumbing work. Putting customers first and offering reliable service at fair costs helped the company expand.

By 1960, Bill Payne had secured his Master Plumber certification in Shreveport. They branched out into major residential and minor commercial plumbing work. In 1968, the National Association of Plumbing Contractors honored Bill Payne as Contractor of the Year. They introduced heating and AC services in 1970.
