Max from Paul's Drains came out same day and opened up the clogged drain in our laundry area plumbing.

Great attitude and a professional approach.

So our main drain clogged on a Sunday afternoon, no fun. We got a referral to Paul's Drains and they were amazing. I called at 7:30am on Monday and they were here within an hour, took care of the issue and could not have been more professional. Thank you so much, Max and Doug!

McGough Plumbing saved the day... Xmas morning, a dead boiler and no heat in my very cold 4-family house! I called multiple local plumbers & heating companies, many of their websites offering ""emergency service"", and only McGough answered, came to my house within an hour and FIXED MY BOILER!! Amazingly, despite working on Xmas morning, they had the best attitude and charged a very reasonable fee. I can't thank them enough and am confident that I will call them on the other 364 days of the year when I need heating or plumbing help (hopefully never again on a holiday). Highly recommend them!!!

Terrible. They are a draining cleaning service and could not clean my drain out. They charged me $75 for nothing and then said I would need a part replaced and that I would have to call to schedule something else. Also, since this is a second floor apartment, they would need to either dig up my tile floor or go through the ceiling of the first floor. They were here only 20 minutes. I ended up calling another company who came and got it cleaned out in about 10 minutes. Being a single lady, I do not suggest this company. I think they were trying to get my money. I'm so glad I called in another opinion, but I might not have and would have ended up paying triple what it did to just get the drain snaked. Sneaky if you ask me.

I had a very distasteful experience with Paul McGough recently that prompted me to come here and post this review.

Two of his employees recently installed a washing machine in my basement. They successfully installed the appliance but noted an overflow drainage issue that may or may not be a problem - only time would tell. They told me that if there was a problem, they would return to look at it for free.

Unfortunately, two weeks later the drain overflowed quite a bit and left a large amount of water on my floor. I called and Paul McGough reiterated that he would send someone out to look at it for free.

Paul's men came out and could not replicate the problem, thus could not fix it. The men then became awkward and informed me that Paul wanted to charge me $85 for the visit. Baffled, I reminded them of our verbal agreement for a free service call if there was an issue with installation. I had also just confirmed with Paul himself the day before they came that the visit would be free.

At that point I called Paul directly and we had a very distasteful conversation. At one point Paul used a metaphor comparing a plumbing service to a hospital, and said that even if a doctor doesn't do anything you still have to pay the copay. I tried to remind him of our standing verbal agreement but he acted as if it never happened.

We agreed simply to not do business with one another and he did not ultimately charge me, but the fact remains: Paul McGough is a dishonest individual who does not honor his verbal agreements nor stand behind his work. Regards,

I found this company through Yelp. They arrived promptly, did the work, were courteous and explained how they fixed the problem. I would use them again.

These guys did a great job. Came when they said they would. Worked quickly and cleaned up after themselves. Price was right too.
I've used them before and I'll call them again.

Honest time and price information from live, local dispatcher; professional technicians in a specialized plumbing service; not glamorous, but very clean and respectable!

Finding a plumber to clear your home's main drain is not something you can spend a great deal of time shopping for. I knew what my problem was; I had already used a 1/2"" snake in the main drain myself, but couldn't get past a certain point. I just needed a plumber that specialized in clearing drains.

As I began the search I found most listings were franchised companies or networks of all-purpose plumbers with no physical address in the community. Others appeared eager to up-sell unnecessary services like a videotape or DVD of the sewer!

Paul's Drain Cleaning was about the only company that had a real address; when I Google StreetViewed it, sure enough there's their shop. It's a name I know I've seen around the area for years, and Google also revealed that they've been a contributor to worthy community efforts in Lynn.

So, I called Paul's Drain Cleaning just after 9:00 on a Thursday morning. I explained my situation and the dispatcher, Pat, quoted a flat rate of $225. He said the workers were all currently at jobs, but that they could probably get to me within a couple of hours. Pat called back three times with updates, but it was barely an hour before the truck arrived!

The two technicians carefully protected the floor with clean canvas tarps before wheeling in a beautiful, belt-driven power snake machine. One plumber operated the belt-driven machine while the other skillfully guided the snake carefully into the drain. It took just a few minutes to clear the problem. The belt-driven snake machine had a green plastic shroud that confined the rotating snake; there was no mess or cleanup required.

At first, $225 seemed like a lot to pay for such a simple job (everything on ground level, easy access to cleanout, no complications, etc.), but now that it's done, I think the price is quite fair. It makes sense to have a flat rate so that the dispatcher can give customers honest information. In this specialty of plumbing, the cost of a service call is more than the time spent at the premises.

It's not just the wonderful, belt driven, electric power snake that completed the job so quickly. It required two specialists working as a team to efficiently handle and operate the machine. Don't forget the truck to take them to the job, cost of the garage, office, phones, etc., and of course, Pat, the dispatcher, who coordinated it all.

I also like supporting local businesses like this that have roots in the community and better help our local economies instead of national franchises and corporations.
