PtP preys on new home owners. They charged us $1,800 for 1 hour of labor to replace an expansion tank and back flow prevention valve, under $200 in parts.
More recently, they told us we needed a new boiler stating that the Carbon Monoxide levels were too high. The salesman arrived 2 hours later to sell us on mini-splits and a high efficiency boiler even tho I was clear that I either wanted to fix the existing boiler, or replace it with a standard efficiency boiler.

The very next day (today) I had a second opinion from another plumber who fixed the existing issue at a nominal cost, and altered the exhaust to allow for proper flow. I will never use PtP again and I advise that others steer clear of this predatory company.

Edit: a CO/smoke detector was installed in that room and there has been nothing but silence...

I was referred to PTP by long time friend who has been a client with PTP for decades an was very satisfied with service they provided for his primary and rental properties.

The initial visiting Technician was very professional and explained problem an actions needed to correct etc. He cleaned his area upon completing repairs. He introduced the service contract for annual preventive maintenance on my boiler (Laars 101) system.

My 1st scheduled preventive maintenance check was scheduled for Late 11/23. Tech arrived completed maintenance and stated all was well. I later in the evening upon returning from work noticed no hot water check boiler, found panels were left off and boiler was in alarm/fault. I replaced panels and reset boiler. Noticed that the interior of boiler was not vacuumed or cleaned this was a preventive maintenance call.

The following days the boiler continued to have issues going off line (failed ignitor).. I called PTP and they sent another tech to assist on 12/08/23.
This tech was very hesitant to perform any extensive Trouble shooting of the failures, He removed the Ignitor and notice that a broken screw that mounted the ignitor to the boiler. He applied a gasket sealant to create a seal on the missing/broken screw side of the ignitor mounting. However, in doing so he applied this gasket material on to the ignitor rod, wiped and re-installed. I question that move and stated that rod should be free of any grease or sealant matter.

He made a few phone calls and then stated that PTP will no longer support this equipment and packed his gear and advised that a Project Manager will contact me regarding next steps. Okay, its early DECEMBER in New Hampshire, Lets get this problem resolved. He packed up and departed fast in which he came.

My Boiler was left in LIMP mode requiring resets every couple of days. I was being patient awaiting a call from this Program Manager? 2 weeks, 3weeks. The HECK with this I contacted a Private Contractor referred from family members (Hvac/boiler MA Licensed tech).

Contractor arrived evaluated and suggested replacement of boiler long story short. presented 3 options with plan of attack. He provided us with portable heating units for living spaces and then installed an electric water heater so we could shower and have Hot Water and HEAT during new install, Now that is customer service!! Take note (Paul The Plumber)!

I have discontinued my maintenance contract with PTP, I only gave them a 1 star because this app required a rating, but They S*CK!!!!!!

Who ever is the owner of this PTP should read and take action on these VERY LOW ratings given from your clients, I done with you..

Stay away from this company. His prices are outrageous. He charges 4 to 5 times the average cost of items like faucets etc. He's a crook!

To much to write out about my situation but in short, I was left without being able to use my drains due to an issues that was made worse by their tech and the way it was handled. This is what I learned from this whole experience with Paul the Plumber. When you search a company on the net the top companies that pop up are the companies that pay to play. Meaning they pay for their name to be at the top of that list which means YOU pay for their name to be at the top of their list. Most of the time these companies are franchise companies that are all about making money and don't care what happens to you. It's just a get in, get paid, and get out. If you run into an issue they don't care or try to help. Don't get sold on fancy tech notifications, sold a bag of goods as why they charge so much because they have ""experienced techs"" or fully stocked trucks. Usually talk to your neighbors or social medial sites for reputable companies in your area. As an owner of a small electrical contracting company, I ALWAYS put my customers needs first. If ever there was an issue on the job, I would never leave a customer's house without temping out the issue to get them by for the night or day or whatever. To me, this is what you get from a smaller company and not one with fancy trucks, iPads, etc. Do extensive research about a company on the net first. Paul the Plumbers reviews seemed good on Google but not on Yelp. I didn't double check there just used Google reviews. My mistake. Now I am out thousands of dollars, without use of water with a family for a week or so two weeks before Christmas. My final comments are that I'm sure I will generate a response on here from this company. Maybe telling you I was rude, or I should have called the office or something along those lines. I can assure you I was not. By the end of the night when they were packing up and leaving, again left without being able to use my drains, I definitely was upset and angry at the situation and how it was handled, but never towards the employees. If you read other comments on your own about this company, you will find there are people complaining about price and Paul the Plumbers canned response is all the same. ""We charge so much because for a lot of factors like experienced people, fully stocked trucks etc."" Again, they are a large firm that only cares about making money and not their customers. This was simply my experience (in which I would never use this company again) and you are free to make your own choices.

Horrible experience with this company. I called explaining everything to them. Had a bathroom flooded that went into vents. Next day I called for a eta. They said I only said there was a blockage when I had water in my vents. Then called to say after they shouldn't of been rude but they were not sending someone qualified to clean vents. Then just say I was rude because they were only sending someone out to unclog something. I have water in my vents! Such rude people. Non professional. They knew I was willing to pay but didn't send anyone! Do not call these people! Just HORRIBLE service!

Called to get our furnace working this weekend. Was told earliest time would be Thursday. We said we would look elsewhere. Magically they fit us in for Monday. Monday comes and no one shows up. Called the company and they said it would be next week. Told them to cancel and would go somewhere else. Thanks for wasting our time. Wife took time off work and cancelled a doctors appointment. They didn't care. I should have read the other reviews first. Never again !

I called one day and Mike was at my home early the next morning to fix a toilet that was 'gurgling'. Needed to replace toilet because it was so old (30+ yrs). He quickly went out, got a good quality toilet, replaced the old one. He worked very efficiently and was friendly. Left everything nice and clean. Price seemed reasonable.
This is second time I needed PTP and would go back to them any time the need arises. You reach a 'live' friendly person when you call, and all is done very professionally. Highly recommended them to neighbor who has called on them already.

Paul the plumber tried to scam my grandmother whos washer and dryer were leaking at the valves. Charged over $300 to ""clean"" a water tank, and wanted over $700 to changed out both valves. Got another quote for the valves less than half from someone else.....so gross a business is trying to take advantage of an elderly women. Will be reporting to the BBB and Chamber of commerce.

I came home after a short vacation to half my house being out of service. John was dispatched to my house and had my problem fixed much faster than I expected. He was friendly, understanding, extremely knowledgeable, and walked me through exactly what had happened. Paul. The plumber will be the first name out of my mouth to anyone. I know that has an electrical problem! Many, many thanks, John! You're the best!

Beware of vast overcharges for service. While at my house fixing a shut off valve the repair person noticed a small leak in my expansion tank of my furnace. He told me that this was a very large repair requiring a ""a lot of time to correct"" and would require him to take apart the entire furnace. The cost was $2,900. Having had positive experience before with Paul the Plumber we agreed to the repair. While a ""lot of time"" took 1.5 hours and required about $300 in parts, he did not take apart the furnace - just shut off the water and put on the parts outside the furnace. That comes to $1700 per hour !!! Total dishonest portrayal of the scope of the project. Do not trust this company. Get a second opinion. They are dishonest.
