If I could give Ivan 5 stars times 10 -- I would! Ivan has been our go-to plumber for many years, and every time we need him he responds quickly and resolves our issues, big and small. Two weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon we discovered our water heater was leaking...he called back in 15 minutes, arrived less than 30 minutes later, and had a new water heater (and a new shower head to boot) installed in a couple hours. And two days ago he replaced the water heater at my Mom's house -- fast and efficient! He's a great communicator and consummate professional. Call him for any of your plumbing needs, large or small!

Mercifully, we have had little need for plumbers in the time that we've lived in our house. As such, we didn't have a ""go-to"" guy when we were faced with a bathtub that wasn't draining at 1:00am, with some some junk bubbling up when we ran the water in the kitchen. After trying to DIY a fix for about an hour, we realized that we needed to call a professional.

Not knowing whether we had clog in our pipes or a bigger problem with the sewer line, we started searching for plumbers that could address both issues. A Yelp search turned up Ivan Patterson with Patterson Plumbing and Drain. He's local to us, isn't a part of a big industrial company like Roto-Rooter, and has great reviews, so everything looked promising. I visited his website and using the contact form on that page, I fired off a detailed message of the problem we had.

I woke up shortly before 7:00am to try calling Ivan, only to discover that he had already responded to my message, offering to come by at 9:30am. He arrived a few minutes before the promised time and came in to assess the problem. Based on what he saw and what we described, he provided a confident assessment of the situation. He recommended a cleanout of the pipes from the kitchen sink area, where grease and debris had surely accumulated over the years. He felt that this would be sufficient to solve our problem, but offered to snake the tub as well for a small added cost though he didn't think it was necessary. We agreed to a price and he quickly got to work. He climbed up on the roof and ran an auger through the roof vents above the kitchen and the laundry room, and in short order he cleared the clog and water was draining freely. After he finished, he said again that he didn't think it was necessary to do the tub, but because we knew that a lot of hair goes down that drain, we asked him to proceed nonetheless. Of course, just as he predicted there was minimal obstruction. Still, we were happy for the added assurance.

Ivan was friendly and polite and explained everything as he did it. He cleaned the augers as they exited the pipes, making sure not to leave a drippy mess on the floor, which we really appreciated. The cost of his services were reasonable for us. All in all it was a very, very positive experience and I'm quite certain we'll call on him again the next time we have plumbing needs.

Ivan very kindly worked around my schedule to schedule an appointment. He arrived on time and quickly assessed the problem. He then replaced the faucet cartridge (he was super organized and had a replacement in his van), reinstalled the handle and trim set, caulked around the trim plate and left the shower enclosure cleaner than I think it was when he started working. I highly recommend his services!
