Shawn, Robert, and Jonathan are great. They demo'd my nasty old shower stall and useless cupboards and tore out the disgusting hallway carpet. They're nonsmoking dog people. The guys worked the whole time, are friendly, and easy going. No extra charges. I'm recommending them to all my friends and you too, Yelp user.

There's a lot of reservation about picking the right contractor for your needs out there. It's your hard earned money, and you want to get the most value and the best quality work. Enter Patriot Tile & Remodel.

Pros:
* Professional and very experienced.
* Highest quality work and attention to detail.
* Complete focus on your project.
* Very competitive pricing (get some quotes before you begin to compare).
* Will work to complete your project asap without cutting corners - Saturdays, longer hours, etc.
* I think they like the Padres a lot.

Cons:
* They're a lean shop so you may have to wait your turn to get on their calendar, but the wait is worth it.
* Not a design agency, so bring your own ideas - look around online at photos, go to San Diego Marble & Tile - they're good at guiding you with materials and having it match your birthstone/horoscope/feng shui. BUT, Shawn will let you know what's a good v bad idea, e.g. I want to put a pizza oven in my shower is probably not the best idea, and he'll try to guide you away from that.

We couldn't be happier with our shower in the end. I asked Shawn for a 10 minute vacation experience when we use our shower, and they delivered!

It's been a year, sorry its taken so long for the review...
Shawn and his team did a fantastic job installing our wood look tile in our entire downstairs living area. I repeatedly get compliments on it. They also did a fireplace wall remodel with a beautiful stacked stone and a rustic wood shelf. I'd like to post the before and after photos but its not giving me the option to.

I found Shawn/Patriot Tile on Yelp. I was looking for a contractor who could rebuild a very old fireplace and also remodel/update a bathroom. I knew as soon as I read the reviews on Shawn that I had ""found my guy"". Shawn did an absolutely amazing job on our fireplace. He did a stacked wall all the way to the ceiling and a big chunky wood mantle. In our bathroom he basically gutted it and put in a new bathtub, subway tile, new fixtures, new paint, and a new floor. In the midst of all this work Shawn discovered a leak in our wall that had been leaking for a long time and immediately reprioritized his work schedule to accommodate this new problem. Shawn is very busy and is usually booked in advance. If he can get him, do so. He is worth waiting for. You will no regret it! His work ethic is unmatched; professional and perfectionist and very experienced. In addition, he is the nicest guy around, easy to talk to, great sense of humor and you will enjoy his company while he is doing you work in your home. His crew is the same way, punctual and friendly. Derrick built us an amazing mantle. I will not let anyone else work on my home!

I am over the moon thrilled with the job Shawn and his team did on our kitchen backsplash. They were on-time, clean, and fast, finishing about a 1/2 day sooner than they thought they would. Shawn is truly a tile-wizard, turning some weird corners and a support beam into works of art. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Shawn and the Patriot team did a super job on a kitchen backsplash. Creative problem solving with some under-cabinet lighting issues and very creative, unique approach to edge trim on this project. These guys are amazing ! They offered a quick in person quote and worked around my weird schedule for installation ! They took a very very weird fireplace (see photos) and turned it into the exact country modern fireplace I had envisioned. Everyone who came to the house was kind, personable, and clearly an expert at what they do. They also put up with my over excited dog who wanted attention ! Would absolutely recommend and use again! I hire a lot of contractors for various home improvement, remodeling & repairs. I do my research, background checks, licensing, BBB, Insurance, reviews & interviews. Finally, I come up with the best. This is why my contractors are often cream of the crop. In this case, I was not only looking for a good tile man but also for a good handyman. My handyman changed his line of work; therefore, I was in search of a new one. Below I will state the characteristics of a good contractor & then display Shawn Burns' qualifications to see how he stands up to the ideal contractor. * Shawn does not hand you nonsense. He tells you if he can do the job or not. If he can't do the job, he will refer you to someone; however, he knows a little bit of everything. Even though he is a tile man, yet he is perfectly familiar with plumbing, electrical & complete house remodeling. He is a general contractor.

* Shawn does all the small jobs himself & for the big jobs, he has a crew of 3 workers whom he has been working with forever. They are family & friends so they are trustworthy, know their stuff & will not ruin Shawn's reputation.

Shawn quickly replaced part of my kitchen floor. He is detail oriented. He will be my new handyman for all of my small or midsize projects & repairs.
