We have the water-shutoff valve, for all 6 condo units in our row , in our basement. That valve was leaking 4 days ago, & OUR excellent plumber was able to stop the leak but told me no one should TOUCH that valve until the Water Company could come out and shut off the outside valve; THEN the broken valve in our basement could be safely replaced.
Our condo association office told me they have a plumbing company they know & trust who can turn off the outside valve and then replace the inside one. Okay... so their plumber came out and found the outside valve. I told him IT HAS TO BE TOTALLY OFF BEFORE ANYONE TOUCHES THE INSIDE VALVE. He said, okay, well, he WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE OUTSIDE VALVE COMPLETELY OFF , but he wanted to try something down in our basement. Whatever he did BROKE A TWO-INCH HOLE IN THE PIPE, which proceeded to FLOOD our basement (4 rooms). THEN, he drove away!!! to get emergency equipment, and was gone for AN HOUR - and YES, all this time that pipe was gushing and flooding our basement!! The emergency equipment he brought back did not help; he called another plumber and they were finally able to stop the leak - temporarily.
Would I recommend them? O. M. G.
Unfortunately we had the displeasure of working with this company through our Home Warranty Insurance. I only wished we had read their reviews on google earlier before allowing them into our home to do the work. Peter was the plumber assigned to our case, he was very unprofessional, dishonest, and worst of all, incompetent. He failed to follow up with his work and worst of all, he either lied in his report to the insurance company or never turned it causing problems for us. I definitely would be cautious when using them and be wary of their poor quality service.
Nicole M.What a crooked POS who was caught with his slime hand in the cookie jar.
I received three estimates for a leaking overhead sewer pipe and Patrick Murphy was the last. All three plumbers had the exact same diagnosis and the same remedy. The first plumber said it was a 2 hour job and would cost $500. The company who remodeled my kitchen and bath quoted $400 and then Patrick Murphy comes in saying it's a huge job and will be over $1,000!
Sounds like he wants to take advantage of the female customer. By the way, he was also the only one who charged for the estimate. I made Home Warranty if America that this guy is a misogynist crook.
Prompt service, but questionable ethical practices. Everything is cheaper when you pay ""cash"" for home warranty items. Was ""reprimanded"" when I called to complain about how the process was working. Will never use them again.
Adam W.We had been struggling with a slow draining tub for several months that eventually decided not to drain at all. After having contacted our home warranty company, Patrick Murphy Plumbing was assigned to our service order. Although dealing with the warranty company was a complete hassle that took almost two days, a technician named Peter arrived at our house in less than an hour, and had our drainage issue resolved in less than half an hour. QUICK and COURTEOUS service. We'll request this company again in the future.
Jennifer P.I smelled gas in my new (as in, moved in 4 days prior) home. I called Nicor, who identified a leak and shut off my service until it could be repaired.
Panicked and flabbergasted, I reached out to one of my aunts and uncles, who contacted Patrick Murphy Plumbing on my behalf. (My aunt works in real estate, and uses Patrick Murphy.) Patrick Murphy Plumbing called me a short time later, and were willing to come out (on a Sunday!) to do the necessary repairs. (I chose to postpone to regular business hours so as not to incur any more fees, but I am so happy that I had the option!)
David was my plumber. He inspected the leaking pipes with me, and listened to me recount what Nicor's recommendation was. He rightfully provided his own assessment and expertise. The repairs were completed within a few hours, and I was able to then get my gas service restored.
My quote ended up being $100 less than what I actually paid, and I had to request an itemized receipt detailing the costs. It turns out that the added cost was chalked up to labor. Go fig.
I am happy, though, with my experience and with the service that I received.
I am doing this review only as an obligation to my hard working fellow Americans. We became one of the victims of this rip-off joint only because they were dispatced to our place by the association management. To make the story short their plumbers will perform all the possible unnecessary work just to build up a good fat bill. They were told the toilet will flush with bucket full of water and they still performed sewer inspection then replaced a water tank flapper when only the jet on rhe toilet was clogged. So a repair that would cost $50 became a $550 for 45 min of imaginary troubleshooting.
Peter came to check on my water heater this morning...thought it was just the pilot light...but it was more than that...Peter pointed out the issue, showed me step by step what the issue was and showed me his fix! I would recommend Peter and Patrick Murphy Plumbing Inc to EVERYONE!! Thank you
I wanted to pass on my recent experience with Patrick B. Murphy Plumbing. We live in a condo. We were told by the neighbor below us that there was a leak coming from her bathroom ceiling. We called the condo office and was given the contact info for this company. A plumber, Roger, came out , took a couple minutes and told me it was the toilet causing the problem. He replaced the seal and charged me $171.00. A little high, but ok if it's going to eliminate the problem. I get a call a few days later from my neighbor who informs me that the problem is worse. I go down stairs and there is a stream of water falling from her ceiling. Her light went out because of all the water. I call Roger on a friday and he tells me he's on his way out of town and won't be able to deal with it until that Monday and that he would call me first thing Monday morning. I never heard from him again. In the meantime our neighbor called another very good local company who came out, spent time searching for the problem and it is now fixed at an extra cost. I called PM Plumbing's voicemail service because that's the only way to contact them and still no response. Then a few days later the owner, Patrick finally calls to apologize and resolve the issue. I explained to him what happened and he told be he would talk to Roger and call be back. It's over a week later and I'm still waiting for that call. I did leave three messages but I guess customer service is not their strong suit.
I would say if after reading this you still feel compelled to call for their services, do yourself a favor and make sure you pay by credit card and not a check. Maybe your credit card will reimburse you when the problems start. Good Luck!
Outstanding! We have used Pat Murphy plumbing for our home over the past three years. The owner, Pat is always so pleasant and eager to help. They've come out quickly even in bad weather and have fixed whatever needed fixing- even if it was complicated and had stumped other plumbers! I recommend them without hesitation.
