They have inspected our back flow for the past 3 years and 2 years have failed and needed $1000+ in repairs. And the whole back flow system is only 6 years old. Two inspections/repairs were within 10 months of each other. Each time is the same thing. I have been told (by other companies) that a back flow should go 10+ years and never need repairs. I guess we are just lucky.

05/20/2023 - Update -
Talked to James at Pacific Backflow. Good customer service on the phone. He will be coming out to inspect the back flow, so I will add more updates then.
I also inspected the back flow and it is currently leaking (just drips but I would not expect to have any leaks 5 days after it was repaired).

05/23/2023 Update -
James came out to inspect the back flow. Upon inspection, there may be an issue with the back flow itself even though it is only about 6 years old. So I will give it to Pacific Backflow for their customer service and willingness to check their work. There was a slight leak even though the back flow valve was cleaned less than 2 weeks ago and James will take care of that. James also notices some potential issues with the back flow that may be defects. So I might not be happy with the cost of the repairs, I am happy with Pacific Backflow and their customer service.

WOW! This guy (James) used words like 'civility' and 'correct information'! First of all, CSB does not determine if a customer should pay a Vendor. CSB did investigate, but I was told fr. the beginning that they are very busy and have much more serious complaints to investigate. The investigator mentioned that since the followup company I hired, had been there approx. 1 month, after.....Pacific Backflow kept mentioning that it had been too long after they had been there and continued with their defense of sometimes when you touch the plumbing, that makes it function properly. Advice to future victims...have the other company go out immediately after Pacific Backflow tries to SCAM you! As other companies have, I welcome more of you to contact me and CSB has told me that this complaint CAN BE reopened, in the future (my plan)! As for collecting their $100, they need to take me to Superior Court - where we can allow a Judge or Commissioner to consider all evidence (facts) and rule on this matter - without giving credence to being told things like: 'if you touch it, it might start working' !

I used Pacific Backflow for a backflow test at our home in Carlsbad. I contacted three testing companies from the City of Carlsbad Approved Testers list, all three with good Yelp reviews. Pacific Backflow were the first to respond, with the most information, and were price competitive.

The test was completed within a week, with the technician arriving on time. I received a copy of the test report from Pacific Backflow a couple of days later. They already sent the original to the City.

I was very happy with the service Pacific Backflow provided, and if the need arises will use them again.

I had to respond to the water company for an overdue backflow inspection in order to prevent the water from being shut off in the shop. As it were, we only received a 48-hour ""urgent"" notice, with no notices coming before this one. Luckily, the good people at Pacific Backflow Co. conducted the inspection almost immediately, and had already communicated with the water company on our behalf. Thanks so much to the kind ladies who helped me out!

DO NOT USE PACIFIC BACKFLOW! My backflow failed again after they repaired it only 2 years ago. Now they want another $200. Found another local company, they fixed it and retested it for $45.

These guys are great! I work in commercial property mgmt. and they are very quick to get your backflow inspected and or repaired. I've been using them for many years now and will keep using them as my vendor for certification. Mike is sensitive to our needs of doing the repairs in the early AM so the water shut off doesn't disturb our tenants.

Thanks Pacific Backflow Team!

We have used Pacific Backflow for several years now since we bought our home. This year, they told us we failed one of the backflow test. I asked the tester to repeat the test (to make sure it is done properly); he said they don't do the retest and then insists we need to have the backflow device repaired. I was skeptical and went online to find another backflow tester for a second opinion. The man and his crew came on Saturday morning and showed me how the backflow test is done properly. He said he had to remove some stone debris around the valves to shut off the valves and then retested: both valves then passed. I was really thankful we got a second opinion and even more upset that Pacific Backflow did not do a proper job (took my $50 annual fees) and suggested we do ""unnecessary expensive repairs"" that we don't really need. My house is less than 10 years old. I was told by various backflow testers the devices usually don't break down until after 10-15 years. We will never use Pacific Backflow again!

I didn't use Pacific Backflow, but I planned too, we had miscommunication on my end and another service was used but it had nothing to do with Pacific Backflow. Jessie was easy to communicate with, told me all the options before they were to go and do the inspection. Responded to my questions right away and I was very confident in their ability to get the job and a inspection done. I would not hesitate to call them in the future.

We were looking into installing a backflow device for our residence. In the end, we decided not to do the installation. However, I was impressed with how receptive Pacific Backflow was; they answered my questions as best they could even during the initial contact, they came by my property in very timely fashion so that they could provide an estimate, and their bid was very reasonable in price versus competing bids I eventually obtained. If we change our mind, I will be calling them up first thing.
