Recommended Customer Reviews

I have been to this store about 8 times in the last 30 years. It seems like this is the only place that sells gasketed sewer pipe. While I always can find what I want, in stock at this store, it reminds me of the trade stores I went to as a teenager, needing a little guidance.
The feeling I get when I come to the store is that I don't belong there and they don't want my business. I have an account at the store and work with PBK in Walnut Creek that is a subsidiary of Pace. I called recently to ask about a delivery and the response was gibberish and unprofessional.

Not all PACE Supply are created equal. Many are geared toward certified plumber types and get annoyed at DIYers. I believe that a lot of the bad reviews here are meant for other locations. I found, through the years, everyone at this Oakland location to be extremely friendly, helpful, and made sure I was purchasing only what I needed. I can honestly say the several times I visited this place it was the best customer service I have experienced anywhere. I look forward to coming here.

Kao - Vince - Jose and the customer service folks are amazing. Great knowledgeable staff members and everything you can imagine needing . This place is top tier.

If you are a consumer that doesn't know what the hell you are doing , you will definitely irritate the people behind the counter. Educate yourself before going in . It's a great company for professional plumbers. And mechanical contractors.
I'm not trying to discourage you if you are a homeowner but I don't go in looking for free advice because that's not what this place is for.

I called PACE Supply just to find out some information about the safety and legality of my heater installation by my landlord. They were very warm and helpful, referred me to the right people, asked me to send a list of questions, sent them to the correct technician, and got me straightforward answers right away. All without expecting any pay or business from me.
I would recommend a company like this to anyone. They care about safety first, which is critical when you are dealing with home renovation. I notice people complaining in their reviews that they won't break the rules for them. I think that's a good thing.

IF I COULD, I WOULD GIVE IT ZERO STAR!
This is where sexism is alive and well. The funny thing is that the offenders here are women!
I called the store four times in the past two days. My first two calls were answered by two different women, and both hung up on me (a woman) mid-sentence. The third call was answered by a man who told me that I had to know that since I was not a licensed plumber, once I paid for the part, I could not return it. Now, at least, that is pertinent information.
Four times in two days, when I called to check their inventory for two different parts for my water heater, I was told that they would only sell parts to licensed plumbers, not to homeowners. They did not even want to check the inventory for me. But, when my husband called (both before and after my calls), they ordered the parts for him and sold him the parts when he went to the store. Not once he was asked if he was a licensed plumber!
The store also had problem matching what is actually in the store with what its computer system said. But that is another topic and not my complaint here.

Called with a legitimate contractor account, asked what sounded like an older guy for specifics on pvc to copper water main line, and the dude sends me off to go look for myself, and then insists that a plumber call him back.
I am a woman, and I am certain that he would have helped a male customer. He was one of those older chauvinists who probably cannot believe that a woman is calling. He should have known off the top of his head what the part was that was needed, or perhaps he could have gotten off his butt to look if he was really interested in making a sale. Not my kind of company, my money will go elsewhere.

Wow the only reason I didn't rate lower is because it isn't an option! Talking with the dude that works in the tool section, left me on hold forever then tells me he doesn't have the correct tool and hangs up on me. Obvious hang up because it sounded like a wired 1999 land line telephone crashing into the holster. Terrible service.

Best place in Oakland for wholesale plumbing supplies, Mauricio and counter help are very helpful.

I cannot even find out the simplest information such as the hours of operation. The hours of operation are not listed ANYWHERE on their website. When u call after hours, there is not even a generic voicemail offering their hours of operation. DUUUUHHHHH. Are you open on Saturday? I dont know. Are you open at least until 6 pm for Americans who work until 5 pm and can barely get over there? Duuuuhhhhh. I still dont know the answer.
