Darren and Chris of Outhouse Plumbing and Heating installed a tankless water heater, Their work was extremely professional, neat and completed within the time frame quoted. I would recommend them for any plumbing needs. Their price was fair and competitive.

I hired Outhouse Heating and Plumbing of Livingston, Montana to to do several things for the bathroom remodel which I was undertaking on my own. I asked them to cap off my sink and shower lines, make sure the lines were set up properly for the new vanity and faucets that I was going to install, remove my toilet and frame out the niches in the shower stall. I sent them an email, and had a printed copy on hand of the spec sheet for the new vanity that was going to be installed so they could move the plumbing to the correct height while the drywall was torn off of the wall. When Darren was working I asked if I could pay him to frame out the niches that were going into the shower stall and he said he would and I paid him his normal $90 hourly rate. When I received the bill I paid it promptly.

Luckily I checked the framing of the niches before I put on the durock up because there was a problem. In a text I wrote to them I explained that ""Unfortunately the bottom one (niche) is not level. It is 1/8 of an inch off which creates problems because on the one side the tile I want to use fits and on the other it doesn't' They responded and told me that it was an easy fix and should take me 5 minutes. I am tool handy, and have worked a lot on building and remodeling my house. It took me 2.5 hours to remove the framing, cut new pieces of 2x4's, level the one frame and frame out the other side of both of the niches, as he only framed out three sides of each niche.

Several months later when the drywall was done, and wall was painted, I was ready to install my vanity realized that the drain was not at the right height or position according to the spec sheet that I shared with them. When I contacted Outhouse Heating and Plumbing again with this problem they said that I told Darren I didn't want to move the stud in the wall and that is why is what is the wrong position and that I would have to resolve the problem myself. They said at this point I would have to open up the wall and move the drain up at my own expense. I explained that the drain was supposed to be moved up higher and that no studs had to be moved. Finally, after going back and forth they agreed to refund $300 of the $705 that I had paid them and that I would have to sign a document. When they sent me the document it included ""#7) It is agreed that the payment is not deemed to be an admission of liability on the part of the Releasee.' When I replied and asked that this sentence be removed because I believe that Outhouse Heating and Plumbing was responsible for the mistakes they had made Darren informed me that he would not refund my money.

I paid for the services that they provided and when I realized their mistakes and contacted them I was met with dismissiveness. I think it is only fair for them to be held accountable for their mistakes which cost me a lot of time and money to fix. Instead of being responsible and accountable they were dismissive and uncooperative. I would not hire them under any circumstance to work on any plumbing project.

We completed a 3,000 sq. ft. cabin project in 2014 just south of Livingston, MT. Outhouse Heating & Plumbing installed a Hydronic Radiant Heat System, a small duct A/C system and a mechanical ventilation system (ERV).

Their work product was stellar. Their follow up has been the same. Their pricing is fair and competitive.

Nice guy but bad experience with quality of work.

We had Outhouse Heating and Plumbing at our home for two separate jobs and one was not finished properly. First, we had to remind him to come back and finish the caulking on our sink 4 weeks after the job was complete because only the front and sides of the sink were finished, not the back/non-visible portion. The second job was not done to code, 6 months later we purchased new appliances and installers would not install them as the job was not done to code. We had to have his previous work ripped out and redone by another vent specific company. Didn't expect to write a bad review, attempted to contact the owner who declined to refund/warranty their previous work.

If you need someone urgently and want something for a budget, he may be your guy but there is no guarantee that things will be done to code or finished properly. We completely understand that mistakes happen and all the Bozeman area contractors are busy but this is no excuse for poor service and/or not standing by your work.
