I'm so impressed with the customer service at this OSH. The guys that are there, from younger folks to retired experienced ones, are very helpful and kind. It's like getting a small town experience in a large retail space. It's the best of both worlds!
The first couple of times I was there, it's seemed empty and I wondered whether they could stay in business, but that was in the middle of a weekday.
They do have much more activity and salespeople around in the earlier mornings and later afternoons.
I had to go there to buy netting for a project. They have rolls of different kinds of netting sold by the foot and even do screen repairs. They just have so many things there that there is a lot more variety and volume than I excepted at a corner of Moraga. Had I known, I would've driven all the way from Oakland just to vibe here, before we moved close by!

OSH used to be known for its extremely knowledgeable and capable associates. That knew their aisles very well and gave great advice. They were always patient and focused.

Under this new ownership, unfortunately it's a whole new ball game. And not a great one. They used to be some older fellows that were former contractors and super knowledgeable. Now I think they favor young DEI hires. Their prices are not good either. The old OSH had great sales. No more.

This is my nearest hardware store 3 mins from home but I now prefer to drive 25 min to Concord Home Depot. The service is quite poor and I constantly have to track down anyone in any department for service. Today I stood around in the paint department for 15 mins with no one in sight and simply walked out.

I don't get it since this location has a captured audience and making a killing with their small hardware margins. But their staff are very young and don't have the perspective of a busy homeowner. Anyhow, today was super frustrating once again.

We were at the Moraga store to purchase an electrical cover. I bought in the damaged one to compare. As soon as I entered the store a wonderful person guided me to the aisle for the display. Russell Bumes was the person who helped me again to figure out the correct cover to purchase. His knowledge in the various covers was a great help in determining the best solution. Please convey my appreciation to Russell for his patient and kind demeanor and for guiding me in the right direction. Russell is certainly an asset to OSH. Kudos for a job well done!

tl/DR: Terrible managers, and no intrest in improving.

Convenience, nostalgia, and a few helpful employees are what this store has going for it. The selection is worse than Orchard had in many of the departments and while there are some deals, most things are very overpriced and it's not unusual for things to be 2 or 3 times as expensive as Ace or even Safeway across the street.

Some employees are lovely, but some of the managers are by far the worst I've ever encountered. Last year I had to have a manager help me and for at least 5 mintues while I was standing next to him while he worked on the computer, he cruely trash talked with an employee about the employee that initially tried to help me and openly mocked him while they knew I could hear them. (The employee they mocked was very friendly to me and actually saw me at Trader Joe's later that day and checked in to make sure my problem had been resolved.) On top of that, the product they ended up selling me (a $200 product) was defective.

Cut to a month ago, I went in to see if they had something that could work as replacement wheels for a push cart, and when a manager that was watching the CCTV saw me put the small axle I had brought from home back in my shopping bag, he came storming into the area and insisted ""I know what you're doing and you need to leave."" I was completely confused because I wasn't doing anything; I had been in the store for 5 minutes and hadn't even touched anything. He escalated to yelling at me when I tried to figure out what was happening. Eventually he let me go back to shopping but implied it was my fault for not asking for help if I brought something from home to compare the sizes. (I've never had to do that at a hardware store before and they don't even sell what I brought, how could I have stolen it?) When he saw me later he demanded to know what I was ""doing now"" and after I told him he gave me a fake happy ""let me know if there's anything else I can help you with"" before speeding away before I could respond.

I contacted the company to let them know that I was incredibly unhappy and that they should offer better instruction to their employees or they were going to keep driving away customers. That was almost a month ago and the only acknowledgment I got was the automated message confirming they got my comment, so I really don't think they care to improve their customer service.

Hi! So impressed with your store in Moraga. We have a landscaping business that is growing rapidly!

Just wanted to give kudos to Shawn for helping us select Stihl products. Shawn also helped with ideas about our own landscaping in our home. Also thrilled for delivery services offered.

Hopefully we will soon be back for more equipment in a month.

Employees always seem clueless and unhelpful. Otherwise a good store with decent supply for its size.

Good local hardware store with plenty of stock. A bit pricey though. I would recommend this place if you don't want to go all the way to Home Depot.
