In 2007, I launched my own plumbing company in New York, which I called Metro National Plumbing & Heating Corp. I ran that business performing small commercial build-outs and residential construction jobs. In 2010, a prominent local HVAC company approached me with a proposal to merge and create an ""all-in-one company.""
After five years, I decided to leave that HVAC company and refocus my efforts on plumbing. One of my initial goals was to expand the service and repair division of my business.
Upon recognizing that the existing name lacked meaning —aside from suggesting a large company— I rebranded the company in 2015 to include the tagline: Order A Plumber. I quickly realized this needed to be the name, not just a slogan.
We want the name to stick in people's minds when they see our van, so that even if they can’t write down the number, they can still remember the name. Check out OrderAPlumber.com
I go by Kenny, and I have been in the plumbing and heating trade for 30 years, working my way through various levels of the trade before launching my own business in 2007. I hold a master plumber license for all major municipalities in Long Island and New York City. I possess many certifications related to the trade. I strive to establish a leading service and repair plumbing business, delivering high-quality service and consistently prioritizing our clients. Check out OrderAPlumber.com

We were not getting hot water so I called OAP. They replaced my water heater 1.5 years ago so I figured I would use them again. Should have known better when they took my info on the phone and I wasn't in their system nor did they have records of doing the work in my house 1.5 years prior. 1st red flag.
When the techs arrived they diagnosed my pilot light was out but did not know if it just blew out or was bad. They got the pilot lit and told me they would replace the part to be on the safe side. $50+ tax for the initial visit and no receipt given.
They come back 2 days later with the part. I asked if my water heater was under warranty and they of course said no and the warranty on the receipt was for the manufacturers warranty only. 2nd red flag.
So with that I ask the price they are going to charge to replace the pilot light assembly...$329.99 plus tax! Of course I declined and was told to call the shop. However the tech allowed me to take a photo of the part number.
Wouldn't you know, the part was $27.77 online. So basically $300 for 15/20 minute job. What a joke.
I understand places need to make money but this was ridiculous. I figured the part (which was not even diagnosed as broken) would be covered under warranty at the least and I would maybe pay for the labor. But $300 for less than 30 min of work.....I think not. I'm glad I found this out now as I had an estimate from them to replace my boiler. Looks like I will be going with another company for sure.
Incredible service. Arrived on time. Polite. Asked questions before starting to determine the proper remedy. Very neat. Cleaned up after work was completed. Explained everything they did. Final bill was the amount quoted. Highly recommended. Excellent service
Second time using them and both were great experiences. Very professional and told me what had to be done and the cost upfront, which was reasonable.
Would highly recommend Matt and Kyle. Great team!
They charged me $80 to show up and then tried to charge me another $420 to unclog a drain which they assessed in 2 minutes. I rejected their service due to their outrageous fee. They still insisted on me paying the $80. I subsequently called someone else and ended up paying $150. ""Order a plumber"" is an absolute rip off!
We needed to replace the tub spout which seems simple enough. But this one was stuck so tight I wasn't sure if I would break it or whether I even had the type of spout that screws on or uses a set screw. OrderAPlumber is one of the few companies that even returned my call. They came quickly and showed when expected BUT I was disappointed when the ""kid"" showed up and didn't have a tub spout on his truck. He told me he would have someone call to schedule a new appointment with the proper spout. So I had to wait another week. I would expect these guys to be prepared, especially when I told them what the issue was before they came. I was also concerned when the kid said that it was a spout that uses a set screw and he suggested that they change it to the 'screw-on' type. I later learned that he was wrong. The company should do a better job at hiring ""kids"" that know what they're doing and what they're talking about. This is the only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating.
Having said all that, when the next guy finally came, he knew what to do and which type of spout to use and had it fixed quickly. I don't recall his name but he was nice, professional and did a good job.
Plumbers, like a lot of contractors, are never cheap. So I expected to pay more than if I had done it myself. But we hired them because they're the professionals and I'm not. I'm happy with the final work and I would recommend them again.
Keith P.Polite, reliable and affordable. Everything you want a plumber to be! Had an issue with my hot water storage unit and they quickly solved it.
Steffi K.I've used them twice, so, they do ""okay"" work. Both plumbers were barely in their twenties (i.e., journeymen). One did not protect my boiler while welding overhead, so, plastic stoppers/gaskets melted, though no leaks occurred as a result, and it left welding bits stuck to the top of the boiler. I did not discover any of this, until I examined the repair (cut and removed leaking pipe, tapped and welded new one) on a stepladder. A simple welder's blanket or sheet would have prevented any damage. Order-a-Plumber demands a $90 estimate fee, if they come over and you don't use their service (can you say ""extortion""? I knew that you could!). They charge 2-3 times what I consider to be a fair rate (I was able to talk one guy down $100, but, it was still a very high price over my estimate, which was triple the cost of parts that I could have obtained ($75) and double the cost of labor at $100/hr for the one-hour job). So, before you call, consider calling someone who offers a free estimate, and do your homework (simple websearch) to get a relative idea of what to expect to pay. Be prepared to haggle. I've used them only in emergencies, and wouldn't do so to overpay for optional upgrades/modifications/etc. Find a plumber who gives free estimates, though you may have to wait a few days for such, since they tend to be very busy (i.e., darned if you do; darned if you don't!).
$300 an hour during arctic freeze when everyone's pipes were freezing. Talk about taking advantage of people!!!
No thank you, off the list of recommendations to friends and other companies.
Barry M.""Order A Plumber / I say CAUTION""
PROS: I found them through HomeAdvisor.com, they were one of four companies that responded to my plumbing request through HomeAdvisor. Although they do not charge a fee to visit the job site and give an estimate, I chose them because they were able to schedule my service call the next day. They did arrive within the time window of 2-4 pm and their Company Vehicle was professional looking and the Technician seemed effective.
Now my project consisted of hooking up a bathroom vanity sink (Hot / Cold / Sink Drain Pipe & Trap Connection) Home owner supplied all parts. I also wanted to change both of my toilets fill tank refill parts which again, I the home owner supplied.
CONS: So when the Technician quoted the prices he quoted a price of ($200.00) for the bathroom vanity sink which I felt was fair and then he clobbered me over the head No Pun Intended at ($125.00) for each toilet totaling $250.00 dollars, so with that I decided to just do the bathroom vanity sink so when I request him to do just that project he increased the price $100.00 to $300.00 because he claimed the quotes he gave me were a package deal. My response was a packaged quote would consisted of one quoted price not two separate prices for two separate jobs. (Now its Friday 3:30 pm 12/21 before Christmas and I have company visiting and staying with me the next day.) I chose to allow myself to be taken advantage of and I paid the full $450.00 plus tax, feeling that it was about a minimum of $125.00+ too much. My decision was based on the fact they were already at my residence, it was the day before my company was arriving and I sustained a shoulder injury which prevented me from doing the job myself.
MY ADVICE: Learn from my mistakes, my suggestion to anyone inquiring to use this Plumbing Company or any other company for that matter is read all the reviews and check BBB to help with your decision on who you may choose to hire. Don't quote multiple jobs at one time, have them quote and complete the main job first and only then inquire about the next job. If this is not an emergency also consider getting multiple quotes from other companies and/or using a local Handyman which you can find online as well, they're usually just as good and a lot cheaper for simple plumbing issues and installs.
Stefanie M.Had a good experience with them last year, so when my shower's diverter was broken, I called them. Very unpleasant experience.
I called and the woman who answered was very unfriendly and told me they charge a $39 fee for appointments after 4pm, which is ridiculous. She said she could fit me in at 5 the next day but no later, but I wouldn't be home from work by then. In the end, I took the 5pm appointment and my boyfriend left work early so he could be home in time.
By 5:30 the next day the plumber still hadn't come. My bf called the office and no one answered. They called back a little later and said it wasn't an appointment, it was a ""window"", which is a joke since she explicitly told me no one would come after 5:30, which is when I would get home. She said someone would be there by 6.
They came well after 6, complained about the fact that they had to work so late, took one look at the shower, said the issue wasn't the diverter, said he didn't have the part to fix it, he wrote ""broken diverter"" on the work order and would come back another day for $200 (originally $240 but he cut us ""a deal"").
Needless to say we canceled that follow up appointment. We went to Lowe's, bought a diverter for $13.99, and fixed it ourselves in 5 minutes. So apparently 5 minutes of his time is worth $225.
I will never use this company again, what terrible experience and rip off.
