I founded my plumbing company in New York back in 2007, which I called Metro National Plumbing & Heating Corp. I worked under that name handling small commercial build-outs and residential new construction projects. In 2010, a prominent local HVAC company approached me to discuss merging into an ""all-in-one company.""
Five years later, I opted to move on from that HVAC company and refocus my efforts on plumbing. One of my first objectives was to grow the service and repair segment of my company.
After realizing the current name had ""no rhyme or reason"" —other than implying a big company— I decided to rebrand the company in 2015 to adopt the slogan: Order A Plumber. I soon understood that this should be the name, not merely a tagline.
We want the name to stick in people's minds when they see our van, so that even if they can’t write down the number, they can recall the name. OrderAPlumber.com

We had 2 very basic plumbing problems: a leaking faucet and a clogged drain. But after Order a Plumber finished (and charged us the outrageous amount of $500), the leak was worse and the drain continued to drain slowly. I would not hire them to fix a straw that sprang a leak.
I waited a while to post this review to give them a chance to make it right.
I needed a Plummer because my washing machine was leaking and I couldn't tell if it was the pipes from the wall or the machine itself leaking. I got a same day appointment which I was very happy about it. The Plummer was professional and helpful. The complaint that I have is with the price that did not match with the service provided. The only thing that the technician did was look around for the leak, he did not move any machines. He waited for a 15 minutes cycle in my washer to be done to see if there was any leak. No apparent leak was found. He told me that in order to check behind the machine, I would have to pay 386$ plus the repair. He said that if it was the machine itself leaking, he can not do any repairs to the machine, which I understood, I told him that I would contact them again if it leaks. He then proceeded to charged me 169$ (155 plus tax) for a ""leak searched"". I find the price too high and if I was told before that a leak search for just looking (bending down to floor level) around was 169$ and to move the machine was 386$, I would have never agreed. I didn't argue the price with him because I understand he is not the one charging me. I called back later that day to see maybe I misunderstood the price that I was quoted when I called. When I first called I was told 49$ for the visit and then they would give me a quote for the job and if I decided to go with them the 49$ would have been put towards the work, but she did not tell me that the leak searched was 155$ plus tax. I got a call from Debbie for a follow up on the service and I explained what had happened and that I thought the price was too steep for just looking around, she said that she was going to speak with the Plummer supervisor and call me back. That was back in October, now it's the end of November and they never contacted me back. Needless to say I won't use them again. This company was referred to me by my oil company.
I wrote a review last week saying how upset I was with the cost of replacing parts in my toliet tank. I spoke to Debbie. She not only listened patiently but tried to help. We finally came to an agreeable price. I will definitely use this company again because they have someone there who listens and tries to understand and help. Debbie
Lindsay C.I want to give this business zero stars, until I get a callback from the manager but she promised to do more than a few times, I'm going to tell my story and it is very bad so sit down and listen. This is why women with children have an extremely hard time trusting anyone to come in to their home and help them. We're in a new home in a new neighborhood trying to set up a nice home for our children and I needed help. I trusted these individuals to come into my home, the first thing that happened to me was I was talk to you in an explicit way and felt extremely uncomfortable in my on home while my children were waiting for me in another room. I was so scared I didn't know what to do. This man said disgusting things to me and got way too close and didn't follow Covid protocol whatsoever. I just wanted him to finish the job and leave and never come back ever again. Unfortunately he didn't finish the job and when the company gave me a courtesy call to see how we did I told him the truth and told him at the job was not finished and they were already paid and that I have been need to feel extremely uncomfortable with my children while this man was doing work and when they promised to send someone to finish the job the man didn't explain anything to me didn't answer questions and was annoyed when I called him up after he left to tell him that the job wasn't finished. By this time my fiancé had come home and was able to figure out what the other plumber didn't tell me to do and when I went to call the companies manager who should've called me back by now, again I got pushed aside. So now if I don't hear from him by the morning I will call my lawyer and we will see what we have to do about this. I will update the story.
We were not getting hot water so I called OAP. They replaced my water heater 1.5 years ago so I figured I would use them again. Should have known better when they took my info on the phone and I wasn't in their system nor did they have records of doing the work in my house 1.5 years prior. 1st red flag.
When the techs arrived they diagnosed my pilot light was out but did not know if it just blew out or was bad. They got the pilot lit and told me they would replace the part to be on the safe side. $50+ tax for the initial visit and no receipt given.
They come back 2 days later with the part. I asked if my water heater was under warranty and they of course said no and the warranty on the receipt was for the manufacturers warranty only. 2nd red flag.
So with that I ask the price they are going to charge to replace the pilot light assembly...$329.99 plus tax! Of course I declined and was told to call the shop. However the tech allowed me to take a photo of the part number.
Wouldn't you know, the part was $27.77 online. So basically $300 for 15/20 minute job. What a joke.
I understand places need to make money but this was ridiculous. I figured the part (which was not even diagnosed as broken) would be covered under warranty at the least and I would maybe pay for the labor. But $300 for less than 30 min of work.....I think not. I'm glad I found this out now as I had an estimate from them to replace my boiler. Looks like I will be going with another company for sure.
Incredible service. Arrived on time. Polite. Asked questions before starting to determine the proper remedy. Very neat. Cleaned up after work was completed. Explained everything they did. Final bill was the amount quoted. Highly recommended. Excellent service
Second time using them and both were great experiences. Very professional and told me what had to be done and the cost upfront, which was reasonable.
Would highly recommend Matt and Kyle. Great team!
They charged me $80 to show up and then tried to charge me another $420 to unclog a drain which they assessed in 2 minutes. I rejected their service due to their outrageous fee. They still insisted on me paying the $80. I subsequently called someone else and ended up paying $150. ""Order a plumber"" is an absolute rip off!
We needed to replace the tub spout which seems simple enough. But this one was stuck so tight I wasn't sure if I would break it or whether I even had the type of spout that screws on or uses a set screw. OrderAPlumber is one of the few companies that even returned my call. They came quickly and showed when expected BUT I was disappointed when the ""kid"" showed up and didn't have a tub spout on his truck. He told me he would have someone call to schedule a new appointment with the proper spout. So I had to wait another week. I would expect these guys to be prepared, especially when I told them what the issue was before they came. I was also concerned when the kid said that it was a spout that uses a set screw and he suggested that they change it to the 'screw-on' type. I later learned that he was wrong. The company should do a better job at hiring ""kids"" that know what they're doing and what they're talking about. This is the only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating.
Having said all that, when the next guy finally came, he knew what to do and which type of spout to use and had it fixed quickly. I don't recall his name but he was nice, professional and did a good job.
Plumbers, like a lot of contractors, are never cheap. So I expected to pay more than if I had done it myself. But we hired them because they're the professionals and I'm not. I'm happy with the final work and I would recommend them again.
Keith P.Polite, reliable and affordable. Everything you want a plumber to be! Had an issue with my hot water storage unit and they quickly solved it.
