They almost cost us hundreds of dollars when we were buying our home and the seller had them come out to inspect and service the heat pumps. Luckily we had someone else come out a few days later and find what Openshaw had missed.

I would give less than one if possible, which is very disappointing as I have used them in the past and had no trouble; however, my last encounter left me feeling that perhaps some of their business practices are deceitful.
Here's the situation: after having them service my AC unit preseason, the unit stopped working about a month or so later (I am NOT suggesting that they had anything to do with this) so I scheduled an appointment to have them come take a look. No one showed. My husband called to check in, left a voicemail. After 30 min of no response, I called. The receptionist called me back and said that the tech had been there but no one answered the door (there were 5 people in the house that day and my husband was actively awaiting their arrival, this was early July and very hot!) when I expressed my surprise, she became rude and stated that surprised or not, he was there and no one answered the door. I asked if he could please come back out sometime that day and she replied that they were booked until the following week, or I could pay the emergency rate and they could try to come back within a few days. My husband and I were shocked. I was even sitting outside on my deck, next to the unit during the window of the appointment time. I called back to ask why the tech did not call my husband's or my cell phone and was told that the techs are not permitted to use their cell phones to call customers... she then stated that she could charge us for a missed appointment on top of the repair that the tech made to the unit! What?! This repair was not mentioned during our first conversation! What technician would proceed to perform any type of work if they were not even able to first make contact with the homeowner!! Then they had the audacity to send a bill. I did report them to the Better Business Bureau, and no surprise, they are not accredited by the BBB.

Called Openshaw plumbing and heating this morning and within 45 minutes, they were at my door. They came in and assessed the situation and explained exactly what was wrong.
Furthermore, I had asked them about the commode screw covers and they said. "" Let me go check if we have some in the truck."" He did not have any however, he asked me if I would like him to go get me some from the store, as they had to wait 20 minutes for the sealant to dry. Talk about exceeding customers expectations +1! He took it to the next level and cut the long screws at the base for me and gave me some tips to keep it secure.
I've lived in the New Freedom, PA area for 15 years now and have used Openshaw for all of our plumbing needs. Quick to respond, knowledgeable, and very respectful. I highly recommend Openshaw!

Our contractor used Openshaw plumbing when he installed our new shower. We were pleased with their work. However the next time we needed a plumber, when we called them, the woman (I learned later it was the owner's wife) was SO rude to me on the phone, I will never use them again. I have never been treated so rudely by anyone I was calling to do business with! It's a shame because Mr Openshaw seemed like a nice man. Poor guy!

I paid the $40 to have Openshaw provide me an estimate on an new propane heater and that was six weeks ago. I even wrote them an email asking for the estimate and haven't had the courtesy of a reply. Very poor way to treat prospective customers. Thanks, Elaine

Updating my review to say I had another great experience. I had my water heater replaced along with the expansion tank today. They were able to come on site the same day I requested service and arrived precisely on time. The replacement water heater was installed quickly and with great care. The two technicians were friendly and very knowledgable. Before leaving, they spent some time to give me tips on how to maximize the life of the unit, show me how everything operated, and answer all of my questions. The office staff is very pleasant to work with and always quick to respond to my calls.

I already have them scheduled to install a whole-home humidification system in a couple of months and I expect that to go just as smooth as the last few times I have used their services. I recommend them highly.
