OnTime Service
Company Overview
OnTime Service provides heating, cooling, and electrical services for both residential and commercial clients. Our promise is to be punctual, or we will compensate you with $59!
Founded in 1975 by my father, George Adkins, I joined him as an apprentice electrician eight years later. For close to forty years, our focus was on residential services and new construction. In 2014, we launched a heating and cooling division. That same year, we moved to our present location on Old Rocky Ridge Road in Hoover, close to Lakeside Baptist Church.

I'm giving them two stars, only because their technicians were on-time & courteous. Otherwise, it would have been one star. I requested a standard dishwasher installation (I provided the dishwasher & parts). I requested an estimate over the phone but was told that they had to come out to give the estimate. I was denied even a range of estimates. The service fee was $89 (a friend was quoted $59 for the same thing), which I told them I wasn't going to pay, only for them to come out and then not be able to afford the install. They agreed to lower the fee to $39.00. This fee was in addition to the install fee and not waived if the service was performed. When the two men arrived, they pulled out a tablet and told me that their """"standard dishwasher install"""" with provided parts was $461 PLUS the $39 service call, making the total $500.00 for a dishwasher install. This was almost $200 MORE than the dishwasher even cost. They left with my $39.00 and I still don't have my dishwasher installed. I feel completely taken advantage of because they could have given me the quote over the phone and saved them a trip and me $39.00. I will never use them for any service in the future because of this experience.

They charged me $500 for a simple job. The outlet in our wash room caught fire and all they had to do was move the outlet. It costed me $500 but was a 20 mins job. The other paint man that was over begged me to complain because he didn't think I should have been charged that because the parts were even on the truck. I should have just told them no but we were moving in with a new baby and I was new to the area. So honestly it was my mess up allowing them to rip me off. Good luck!

Charged $427 to disconnect kitchen faucet and disposal! The $69 charge to come to your house DOES NOT apply to any work. I will call someone else to reconnect. Service person was less than 1 hour completing requested work. Called for 2 days to speak to someone about excessive change. Received $100 refund but $327 was still outrageous!

On time service gave me an estimate for 2 simple jobs. 1. Replace rubber seals at bottom of toilet fill tank. 2. Repair or replace defective stopper drain seal in tub. Estimate a whopping $659, which they promptly reduced to $559 after I said their estimate was excessive. I did not use """"On Time Service"""" for this work. The next day I got another plumber who did both jobs for $145 within 45 minutes. In local tv add the owner of """"On Time Service"""" tells us he is running a christian business. Well his brand of Christianity would have cost me $500 more than I needed to pay. Christ lifted the standard of Christian conduct beyond the 10 commandments, but even the old testament law says """"Thou Shalt Not Steal"""". We Christians all stumble and fall, but when we are habitually harming our neighbor, we are called on to repent. This owner needs to repent of stealing from his customers many of whom, like me, are on a fixed income. I recommend avoiding On Time Service unless you do not mind being fleeced.

Very proffesional company but their pricing is ridiculous. Charged us $90 per lamp to replace two burned out floodlights. Next time we'll try a handyman service. Also, would not replace a faulty exterior outlet without insisting the entire circuit and breaker be brought up to current code in my 25 year old house. That seems like overkill to me.

I cannot stress this enough- do NOT use this company. What should have been tops a $400-$500 job was $1,500. The job entailed installing a sink that was already purchased. The technician had to install the strainer basket, waste pipe, p-trap. For this """"labor intensive"""" job he quoted $965. The next task was install an already purchased dish washer. To include a dishwasher tail piece for drainage, water hook up, electric hook up, and testing. Quote: $475. For a grand total of $1529 for a plumbing 101 job. He said """"inflation"""" due to """"parts from China."""" What's worse is he didn't even hook up the hot water part of the sink for fear if he broke the valve that water would leak. He told us to call a plumber to finish the job or get the customer's son in law to to do it. Mind-blowing as the whole point of calling the On Time plumbing service was to have a job finished to completion. If you want to get ripped off this is the company for you.

I have used OnTime twice. Ironically, in both cases I needed the same thing, a new outdoor outlet installed. I will say that the technicians they sent on both calls, were very professional and easy to work with. On both calls, they clearly identified all costs and requested approval before beginning any work. The first call ended successfully, and I was happy with the work and the price. Second call not so much. The price was borderline ridiculous. I get that it was a different circumstance, but the cost was just under $1000 for an outlet. I felt a little cheated on the second call as it still cost me $79.00 to have them come out. Not sure I would call them again.

They charged me $263 to change a ballast in a light. The owner would not call me back to explain the pricing.

David was very nice and very professional. He carefully explained our problem and how it was repaired, and he patiently answered our questions. We know more now than we did before. I am happy to recommend David to others.

A storm blew a tree down and it landed on the electrical feed to our cabin. We were not there, and discovered the wire on the ground with the electrical meter and outdoor box on the ground. We immediately called Alabama power to shut down service and they recommended OnTime Electrical. They came out and provided an estimate. Which involved more than installing a new electrical box and service up to code. The cabin was built in 1979, so it needed to be brought up to electrical code. OnTime's quote was more than $21,000.00. No way would insurance cover that. We had to find another electrical contractor with more reasonable costs.
