Recommended Customer Reviews

I usually don't leave reviews but felt I needed to let everyone know what a great experience I just had with Ongaro technicians Kevin and Jonathon. Super Knowledgeable about my Trane Clean Effects air filtration system and my Air Scrubber. I will use Ongaro next time without a doubt. Total subject matter experts. Great job guys. They even showed up a little early. Fantastic.

5+ stars. They are so good with telling you when they are coming. We have used them twice and both plumbers were great! Aldo the first time and Juan the second time. Honest and reliable.

I called to do a simple back-flow test required by the City for new homes, I had forgotten to schedule it. They asked if I received a turnoff notice and they said ""they charge a late fee"". I asked why they were charging a late fee and she paused and said we have a lot of steps to report to the City so you aren't turned off. This is not true, there are no additional steps, this company is using this is as an opportunity to gauge people. In this economy, they should be ashamed! I went with Maples Plumbing and Heating - another local company who had no ridiculous late fee, was $50 cheaper and could perform the test a day sooner.
I am going to ask the City to consider removing them from the preferred vendors list - they are simply taking advantage of people.
The response from the owner might make sense if the other vendors weren't performing the same exact service, days sooner without adding additional fees. There is no quality difference in a back-flow testing service. Again, I urge consumers to read all the reviews where this company overcharged and under-delivered for hard working people in this community.

Have used Ongaro for years across almost ten tasks, always top-notch. Just had Mike W come by to help with boiler maintenance (condensate filter + redoing the inlets/outlets), great job as expected, super friendly and prompt. Can't recommend them enough.

I work for a large 501(c)(3) charity and Ongaro is one of our vendors. They are one of the few that actually respond either same day or within a couple of days. The other day I had an issue which disgruntled me because the bureaucracy was requiring unnecessary procedures and an unnecessary expense to my company. In addition to being accurate and thorough in the repair Don was sympathetic to my issue and made some adjustments on our bill to accommodate some of the bureaucracy. He didn't have to do that. He just recognized my passion for my organization and made an exception. As always the repair work was done to my clients absolute satisfaction and he also found another problem which I wasn't aware of while he was there. Thanks Don and thanks Ongaro

The team was professional, polite and did an outstanding job. I had a whole new heating system installed within 24 hours of my first call. Thanks so much!

Our plumber accidentally broke our hydronic heater, it was spilling out hot water, mad scramble to find a repair guy. Ongaro send their specialist Mike Woolf over, he explained everything to us in detail. He loves his job! It was an old boiler and so yes $$$ to replace, but we have a new boiler/system that looks like artwork! It's amazing the difference and we are so happy.

A total rip off!!! We needed a kitchen faucet replaced and this simple job was ridiculously priced. When I made my appointment, they would only tell me the $76 fee for coming out. When the plumber got here, I was blown away by the price of a simple 1-hour install (which was ON TOP of the $76 fee for coming out - they do not waive that fee). Their price was 3x as much as any other plumber. How do I know? Because I told him to pound sand and I hired someone else, who did a great job for a fraction of the cost.
BTW, the plumber who came out was very courteous. And like the other reviewer, I cannot speak to their work - only to their prices. But it'll cost you $76 just to find out that they are soooo overpriced.

We had an issue with a tankless water heater that was installed by another plumber.
At the urging of the tankless manufacturer, we called Ongaro to try and troubleshoot the installation.
We live out a distance and we were warned that there would be a travel fee to our service, but that the trucks are well stocked and parts should be onboard to execute most needed repairs.
The repair guy showed up and immediately called customer service for the tankless. Wait time was one hour. We agreed to an hour of time so he could speak with them but during the wait, no troubleshooting was performed.
Turns out, a check valve was missing from our original install. We were told the part would need to be ordered and that they would have to come back the following week. We were charged $220 for this service and asked to sign an estimate for $550 more for a level 2 repair in order to complete the job.
Not knowing the scope of work, just that a level 2 sounded like it was going to be involved, we signed the estimate.
We were told scheduling would call once they had the part. We didn't get a call, so several days later we called ourselves. They wanted us to wait until the following week because the plumber was already coming to our town for another client then.
Because our unit was malfunctioning and we had to unplug it every night due to constant running, we asked that the original commitment to return be kept. They agreed after making several calls and getting back to us.
The day of the repair, the window for arrival was 8-10am. At 10:20am we called to see where they were. We were told there was a delay getting the part, (had to pick it up that morning ?) but he would be there soon.
After he arrived, he spent 15 minutes installing the part then asked for a $550 check.
When I asked for a detailed invoice so I could see how they were justifying this fee - it stated ""level 2 repair."" No parts breakdown or hourly rate.
I was informed they are a fixed price company.
When I called the office later and challenged paying a total of $770 for a 15 minute repair that installed a max $60 part, I was told I was paying overhead for such a large company. That they had over 100 employees and I was covering gas charges and time for travel.
They stated having to outfit the trucks with parts so they can do on the spot repairs costs money.
So - if they truly had the parts onboard they claimed to, my job would have been maybe $300 -
So disappointed in this organization.
Watch your wallets!
Good news is - they did fix the problem - just so disappointed in their style of doing business and their price structures.
TOTAL rip off!!!
UPDATE:
Keith Herman, Plumbing Manager, reached out this morning and after hearing our experience amended our charges to reflect the services rendered.
He took accountability for the problems within the situation and made it right.
With this I have amended my review because the work TOTALLY solved my problem - Getting there was just far more difficult than it should have been.
Will consider using them again knowing Keith Herman will stand behind the process.

Kevin, a 3rd generation plumber, obviously loves what he does and is excellent. He's a craftsman with a great personality. He fixed the problem quickly and efficiently and gave me a reasonable quote for replacing our 26 yo water heater. If all the plumbers at Ongaro are like Kevin, this is one fantastic company.
