Professional and thorough job performance. I saw rust on my water heater which had not been checked in quite some time. Shannon did the obvious maintenance and went beyond without adding a lot of extra charges. Wish I had gone to him for the installation years ago.
Bob D.Jekyl and Hyde. We've used O'Neill several times, including for a huge job that cost 15k. Expensive, but generally good (contractor quirkiness within the normal range). But catch Shannen on the wrong day, and you are doomed. He rescheduled a routine appointment (his request) until today. But the day he was scheduled to arrive, he cursed out my wife for not sending pictures (the pictures were sent to his wife, but he didn't have them) and then said he wouldn't have the parts in his truck. When asked if he should reschedule when he had it together, he flew off the handle. Long story short, this is a guy who bitched out my wife, a good customer, when we had paid him 15k earlier this year. Not sure what's going on in his personal life to make him cranky, but hire at your own risk. I don't need the drama so I'll find a new plumber. Too bad. His wife is nice on the phone, but he's apparently a short fuse. Look elsewhere. I generally treat people who pay me huge sums of money respectfully, but apparently O'Neill has a different view . Never written a review, much less a negative one, before, but had to out of principle on this one. Beware.
We had a great experience with O'Neill, or as great an experience you can have when talking about a plumbing emergency.
Our water heater started leaking and after calling a big name competitor who took hours to get back to us and couldn't service us until late in the day, we called O'Neill. We heard back from them quickly about setting up an appointment and they asked for details and photos - type, model of the heater, where was it situated, how big was the opening- so they could be sure they had a replacement and that it would fit. They arrived 2 hours before they thought they'd be able to make it out (a lifesaver).
Shannon was friendly and before they even entered the unit, they put down drop cloths to protect our floors and the hallway carpeting. They walked me through each part of the process and reviewed the new configuration before they left, showing me where each valve was and letting me know about the warrantee. They worked quickly and even fixed another plumbing issue we'd been having. Price was 1800 which included cost of water heater, labor and an emergency fee (reasonable since they came off a larger job to help us out).
The folks who referred them to us had called O'Neill once and had been told they could fix the problem themselves if they wanted to give it a try before they came out. O'Neill walked them through the process and told them what part to to buy, at no cost! That seems like a good way to build a customer base: provide fast efficient service when needed, but help folks figure out minor repairs on their own.
I'd highly recommend O'Neill after our experience working with them.
Haytham K.The manager Mr. Shannon came over tonight to my house. Thanks god he did nothing at my home. I'm telling my impressions of his attitude while ""giving a service"".
He was talkative, racist, rude & nonprofessional at all.I had an emergency of leaking in the dinning area coming from the upstairs Bathroom, he suggested to cut the ceiling to fix the problem & make sure no more water spill. Then he checked the toilet upstairs & found it loose, he came to know that it's all coming from here. I told him frankly I've a very limited budget ""moved in last month"" so I ""suggest"" fixing the toilet so I don't pay for the ceiling cut ($250) + cost of repairs. I've already charged $257 for showing up. He said NO . In the middle of the give & take he said to me he's the ""fifth white generation""!! Implying that am black African immigrant. This's what I understood.
I NEVER recommend this guy.
G N.Shannon is in a word ""Awesome""! First he quotes me 40% less than his closest competitor AND can do it same day. Then he tells me how I could do it myself, complete with recommended tools and part numbers...unreal!! That's customer service. I'm going to give it a try on my own. If I fail, he'll no doubt be the guy I call to do the job...now and in the future.
Bravo Shannon! You have restored my faith in the idea that there are still honest contractors out there.
I've never made a yelp review before, but I made an account just to say how happy I am with O'Neill plumbing.
I was out of country on a business trip and my wife called me about a leak in the wall, wet carpet, water damage, you know the kind. Cue panic mode for me, having her send me photos and trying to diagnose the issue from overseas. After we started to figure out what was going on, I had her call O'Neill plumbing. We'd never used them before, but the positive reviews here gave us comfort.
Shannon showed up and took a look at our problem, and spoke to me on the phone as he diagnosed the issue. It turned out that there was an unusual backup in the drainage system for the A/C unit and he was able to fix it quick and easy.
But here's the best part! After he finished, he told me that he wasn't even going to charge us a service fee for the work, he said it was a new problem for him, and he didn't think we should have to pay for him to learn!!! He essentially only charged us the emergency call fee which we authorized when we asked him to come out in the first place.
Shannon went above and beyond to help us a solve a confusing problem with a difficult system, and was kind and gracious when billing time came.
I will use them again, and I would recommend O'Neill plumbing to others.
Tiffany B.I was able to get same day service from Shannon. He diligently explained to me the components of the water heater and the respective plumbing. He presented me with options, potential risk/reward, and let me choose. He saw a few other small repairs, cleared them by me, and did them also! There is a 3% surcharge for credit cards though, just so you are prepared w/the cash... Thanks :-)
Called O'Neill for a clogged toilet at a rental home we own in Falls Chuch. It was a Tuesday. Quoted $250 ""emergency charge"" if they came same day and $750- $1200 if toilet is first floor (thus ""main line clog"")- which it was. I passed on them and found J&L Plumbing. They quoted a flat fee of $150 and charged same...and came same day. I almost got REALLY ripped off by O'Neill and can see why they have several one and 2 star ratings. Buyer beware!!!
I had a minor plumbing emergency and called O'Neill Plumbing. Within a few hours my issue had been resolved. I was totally thrilled with the service, the detail the service crew paid to my issue, and the time they took to describe what was going on and show me what needed to be done to address my issue. I would absolutely use them again!
Rana C.DO NOT USE THESE VERY RUDE / SHADY PEOPLE. They fixed the indoor pipe issue fine - but he is very brash / rough around the edges in his speech and handling of customers. The problem was while winterizing our outdoor faucets, they broke the faucet so we need a complete replacement of the hose bib which is upwards of $375 I was being told when I called around. . I called O'Neil to discuss and the owner threatened to hang up on me because of my children in the background - as he did to his wife when she had a similar issue. Also, said he didn't believe they did it even though he said he had ""fired everyone"" that worked for him before because they were ""incompetent."" His assistant is the one that did the back, no one was out there until spring when we attempted to water newly planted plants and found it. The handle was no where to be found, so it didn't just break off on its own. The owner is very rude and did not own up to their responsibility. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM...in the end they are costing me even more $$ and are very rude.
UPDATE: My response from O'Neil to this review was initially positive to call and discuss 24/7, which I was obviously reluctant to do after my last interaction being so unhelpful and negative. I told him that I didn't want to call unless he was going to offer a solution. So he said to send a picture, which I did. He replied that he believed it could be fixed and asked that I call back, but he also added, ""All I ask was not to have any screaming kids in the background"" when I called back. I decided that it wasn't going to work to have them come back out -- customer service horrible. I have 2 toddlers and run a daycare - they may squeal with joy or cry and I cant have someone flipping out because they cant deal. In the end, it cost us and additional $130 from MyPlumber, but that was an AMAZING experience, I couldn't recommend them more highly. The plumber even applied a coupon code for $30 off to save us some money without our inquiry to lower the bill from $160. In the end, I asked O'Neil plumbing to reimburse us against our previous bill which was rather substantial $885 and I would be more than satisfied and update the review to reflect this. It has been over a week and they have not responded to this inquiry and don't expect that they will.
