I am honestly surprised to see poor reviews for this company. My experience, twice now in two years, has been nothing but spectacular. I don't live in the area but own a rental property. The first time I used On Call it was a holiday weekend. The temperatures were sub-zero and my tenant had no heat. The staff was incredibly professional and the service tech very responsive. They were out within an hour, assessed the issue and gave me a very fair quote. The work was done quickly and correctly. Heat restored! This company doesn't know me or have a relationship with me. I offered to give them a credit card number over the phone. They refused. Instead, emailed me an invoice, which I promptly paid.

Fast forward to this year, again, furnace stopped working on a weekend. Called the office and had a service tech (Larry) call me within 10 minutes. He was at my rental property within 15 min. after that and resolved the issue in no time.

In both situations they could have easily taken advantage of me as I wasn't there to observe, oversee, or review their work. I would trust them to do any project I have in the future.

For many years, my wife and I had dealt with On-Call Plumbing for our water needs. However, something has happened to the company since its founder died. Two weeks ago, I contacted the company and requested help with a waste-water line leak. I was told that help was coming. A representative of the company arrived, I gave him the request, and after two more calls, nothing further from the plumbing company was heard. I hired another plumbing company to complete the job. Very poor response from our former plumber, On-Call.

I own multiple properties and have been using On-Call for many years. I have a big ol' Victorian in Saratoga and the furnace and A/C units were 25+ years old. On-Call has come to my rescue many times. I am also a Realtor and have had issue with HVAC in homes I have represented and they have never disappointed. After helping me to keep two furnaces and two central A/C units limping along for the past 5 years, I decided to replace the whole kit and caboodle.

I got MULTIPLE quotes and know more about HVAC systems than I would have ever thought possible. Not only has On-Call serviced me extremely well on my old units, they installed both furnaces and bot AC units with a team of guys (at least 6) making it possible to have the work completed in one day. Larry, who gave me the estimate, has been with this family owned and run business for you 17 years. He was honest, communicative and punctual. Their quote was 60% less than some of the big hitters in the area and true to their word, my estimate was exactly what I was charged.

I will always call On-Call - in the Saratoga area many companies have gotten a bit big for their britches but they remain true to the sense of family owned and operated businesses, are fair and always a pleasure to deal with.

Quickly diagnosed furnace issue, ordered the part Friday, called Monday morning to ask to install. Tech arrived in an hour in full respirator - very mindful of virus - installed and out in an hour. Have used them several times over the years. Good work, good prices.

Awful company. As the old guys retire, they are replaced with unskilled kids with no experience. Expect 3 visits for a clean and check on your furnace, because I promise your humidifier will leak and make a mess after they install the new pad.
Had A/C serviced this summer and they padded the bill with an extra hour and a half of service time. I refused to pay because I had proof that I was in my office in Albany at the time they said they finished on the invoice.
Plumbing department is worse. Had faucets installed badly, toilets fixed incompletely. Guy left when 4pm came - job unfinished.
The one competent guy didn't show up because they overbooked him this week. No one bothered to call. Done.
I have referred them a ton of biz over the years. No longer a viable service provider. Owner has a nasty attitude to boot.
Give them a miss.

When you have lousy customer service, you get bad reviews. I should have checked out Yelp first. I just left the following on Nextdoor.com for BSpa.

""On Call Heating and Plumbing - do not call!
Hi folks, I called them when my furnace would not ignite for several days and then kick on. They sent a young man, who very politely tried to figure things out and cleaned part of the unit but could not resolve the problem. Then an older man came on a second visit. He did something and said the younger guy did not have the experience to diagnose. He charged me $230 (he took off half the labor charge for first visit. The furnace worked for a day or so and then shut off again. The older man called me a day or so later and said when can they come to replace the ignitor and clean the furnace? At this point, I do not want to pay another $200 or more to have them do what they should have done the first time. There was not communication and no explanation for why they finally decided to replace the ignitor when they did not id that as the issue on two prior visits. Very unprofessional. Poor customer service.""

I called oncall plumbing and heating in Saratoga Springs because I needed a new shower valve. One of their employees came to my house on a Thursday afternoon to check the job. He said he would have to access the pipes through the adjoining wall. He called his office and gave me a price estimate of 500-600.00. I said ok and he came back the following morning with another employee. They did access the pipes through the wall, cut the old valve out, replaced the new valve with a new faucet trim kit, and welded the new pipe. They completed this in less that 1 1/2 hours.
I recieved the bill in the mail about 12 days later and the total was $748.57. I didn't open the bill until the following week when I was going to pay it. The bill said 4 hours for the journeyman and 2.5 hours for the helper.
I haved tried to get an explanation from this business owner, Michael Mulholland, why I am charged for the additional hours. He will not take my calls. I also when to his business today, 11-19-18 to ask him to explain the amount. He would not talk to me , and I was told there was no one else I could talk to.
I don't know what I will do now, but I want to tell everyone to call any other business but this one.

This company is unprofessional and sloppy. First of all they charge you for travel time and $150 just to show up. They did not fix our problem and we ended up with a $600 bill and our basement trashed. The plumbers that showed up seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. They told us they would be right back with the bill and to discuss what time they would come back the next day and they left without saying anything. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! Complete waste of time and money!
