Martin O'Grady left his family farm in Roscommon, Ireland at 15 for Dublin to pursue a plumbing apprenticeship. He spent the following ten years working in London and New York as a union plumber and established his own plumbing company in 1977 to care for his six children and advance his expertise as a master plumber. Currently, O'Grady Plumbing has over 50 years of experience and incorporates the newest technology to provide consistent quality service whenever we come to your home.
My mission in the company is clear: to serve our customers well and make sure they receive a good value. Since 1990, I have worked with my father and have honed my skills to be on par with his. My expertise lies in finding effective solutions for challenging plumbing issues. Underground pipes often present the greatest challenges. Here is where I differentiate myself from others with my straightforward approach, complete range of drain service tools, and in-depth training to get the job done right and at a fair price.

Called about a kitchen sink clog. Few hours later ""Rodney"" arrived. After a lot of looking...he told me I needed to replace all the undersink pipes. H'mm, but ok. I didn't watch over him. After he put in new pipes, my kitchen faucet wasn't working as it had, for years, before he arrived; it would not stay in the ""spray"" mode. He said the pressure was low and, without my request, he took my pricey Grohe handheld apart. After several hours, he could not make it work. He said the company would buy and install a new one. He brought new one, and it didn't work properly. He returned another day, spent time chipping away at my original faucet, and finally the spray function worked again.
After he did whatever he did, he sat down and wrote up an invoice, purporting to be an ""authorization of work. "" HE signed, illegibly, where the customer should have signed. In short, the paperwork was irregular.
I asked about the exorbitant charges he had written, and he told me they were ""fixed"" in a manual. He vaguely pointed to some charge for something, but I hadn't a clue whether it related to anything he had done. I asked about a second charge he had written, and he flipped pages before saying it was in a different manual that was in his truck. He walked out to get it. He returned and said he didn't have ""that manual."" I believed he was trying to gouge me for the time he spent unproductively. I told him I would speak with the company about the charges. He is a nice young man, and I do not doubt his competence for much of the work he encounters.
After he left I noticed he'd installed the new pipes over the flexible hose of the pullout faucet, so I could not pull out the faucet. I called the company, very upset. They sent out a competent senior technician who fixed it, quickly. Overall, I spent over 2 days of my time dealing with a simple plumbing issue.
I am awarding 5 stars because Paul offered a generous accommodation. Things happen. People fail. What ultimately matters is how the business treats its customers. We have used O'Grady for more than 10 years and have paid it thousands of dollars for major work. I will use them again because they did the right thing this time.

These guys rock! Responsive. Solved my problems quickly. Price was fair. How many plumbers have you said that about?

I called this morning at 7:30am and made a same day appointment for 3pm. I had to take the afternoon off of work, and I was prepared for them to be late and wait for hours. Nope. They were there at 3pm on the dot! Came upstairs, snaked the shower drain with a motor-powered auger and were done in 20 minutes. It was pricey ($203 with the yelper first time discount of $25 off), but you know what? I'll pay a premium for someone who respects my time, cleans up the workspace when done and is polite.
Btw, I have no idea why my review is being filtered. I've been a legitimate yelper for years!

Responsive, efficient, fast, and clean - the best plumbing service I've ever experienced. The repairs work (in our case for good), the place is spotless after they leave, and the whole experience is one of customer service. Can highly recommend them.

Call Bell Plumbers instead!
I should have remembered the stupid run-around I got back in 2001, when O'Grady came to replace a corroded section of 4"" sewer line that ran into the slab under my house. With my limited knowledge of chemistry and metallurgy, I thought that the idea of embedding cast iron into concrete was not such a good idea, and the O'Grady guy said that there was an insulating foam sold at a plumbing contractor store in Potrero Hill. So I drove down there and the guy at the counter had no idea what I was talking about. I happened to see the very same O'Grady guy buying stuff for another job, and he pointed to the item, which came in 100 foot rolls, the same cushion foam roll they have at the UPS store. He negotiated with the sales clerk to take 1 foot of the stuff to wrap my pipe. Now why did he send me on this useless errand? It felt like the kind of hazing I used to get on construction sites when I was working my way through college. ""Go get a box of toe nails"". Anyway, that job cost $8,000, for about 10 feet of new cast iron and a patch for the slab. At least the sub-contractor's slab came out nice, but in retrospect I GOT RIPPED OFF.
Now I'm an idiot, because in April 2012, I noticed my water heating was rusted and leaking on Wed. night. I called O'Grady 9 A.M. Thurs. and told them I needed a replacement 40 gal. Rheem and the old one hauled away. I could not have been more specific. They said the earliest spot was Fri. 12 - 1 P.M. and I said fine. Patrick showed up just after 12, looked at it, and said ""we're going to have to replace this."" I said ""yes, that's why you're here."" He said, ""how about 9 A.M. tomorrow?"" Well, Saturday rolls around, it's NOON, and I've got a river of rusty water running through my garage. I called and got the answering machine. I called again, and the third time got through to a human and was told that the water heater specialist had called in sick and that Monday morning was the earliest they could come out to ""look at it"". I immediately called Bell Plumbing, and they came out 20 minutes later (on a Saturday) with two guys and a new water heater. I also got a very good deal (after some haggling).

O'Grady's wasn't the first plumber I called, but they will be the last...
Dreaded Leak:
Bathroom sink leaked from the bowl into the garage, with no visible, exposed pipe issues. Crap. The leak appears to be behind the armor plated, tiled wall. First called Malcolm Plumbing. They came out, and told me they would need to open the wall and replace tons of pipes to fix. Provided an estimate for $1200.00. I would have bit except they made me wait and chase them around, so called Ogradys.
Pat of Ogrady's is the best! He arrived when he said he would and performed an initial inspection at no charge. Scheduled the follow-on appointment and arrived again timely. During diagnostics, he acted on a hunch that since the leak was not immediate, that the drain line was possibly clogged, allowing water to backup and leak from the vent. WooHoo! He cleared the line of the blockage and the water flowed freely. Without opening my wall, and for only $275.00.
Thanks Pat!!!

Nigel Mulgraw referred us to call O'Grady Plumbing for our shower water leaks. Mattteo at O'Grady Plumbing came to look at the job and determined the valves needed to be replaced. He charged a flat price $228 for the job. Matteo worked on the job repair for roughly 2-3 hours (including running out to get parts). He got the job done for us. We were happy that O'Grady gives a warranty for his repair and parts. Overall, we were happy that it worked out for our situation. We would call recommend O'Grady Plumbing.

Incredibly professional and responsive. We're renting and so have to go through the proper channels to get anything fixed in our place. When our sink started backing up and overflowing, we contact our property management, who got us in touch with O'Grady plumbing. We had an appointment booked for the next day (as it wasn't an emergency), but then a few hours before the appointment, our sink started overflowing. I called their after hours service and they got back to us and had someone out to help ASAP. Sean at O'Grady was awesome and I would definitely recommend them. I can't speak to price since we're just renters, but they were incredibly efficient and friendly.

Used these guys quite a few times - they're fast, reliable, not cheap, but always on time & helpful.

Fast response time coupled with no messing around and a fast implementation of the new lavatory system led to be impressed with Rodney Williams of O'Grady Plumbing.
