James helped us out with maintenance on our on demand hot water heater before and I found him pleasant to work with and honest so when our toilets were acting up, I needed a sink replaced, and a few small other things done I called him.
We had some trouble connecting initially (many phone calls because he doesn't answer his phone) but when we finally did he seemed happy to come out and give me an estimate. When he came out to give me the quote he made it sound like he would come back the following day, or the next, and it would be a quick job despite my list. No show, no phone call either day. Three days later I texted him to ask if he planned on coming out that day because by then I had put off errands for 2 days waiting for him and wanted to know when he was coming so I could work my schedule around him and still get out for a bit. No phone call, no text back & no show. So now it's been a week with 2/3 of my toilets not working. Time to call another plumber.
The second plumber was in and out in a couple hours, less expensive and despite his truck breaking down (called to let me know he needed to reschedule) showed up for his second scheduled appointment early.
I think if you can catch James at the right moment he is good at what he does. But reliability matters with repair people, and the complete lack of communication is inexcusable.
Good for you James if you are so busy that you can treat people that way, but I won't be calling you again.

We have used Encinitas plumbing a few times now and they are hands down, THE BEAT plumbing company we have ever used! We live in an old 1950s home and have had plumbing issues for years. All of the other plumbers have told us we need new pipes but James and his team have been able to fix the problems at a fraction of the cost of new pipes and are probably the nicest and most personable people we have ever had the pleasure of meeting!

We just had a water softener and water line regulator installed by James.

James was a pleasure to work with from the beginning. He came out to assess the situation and was very honest about what needed to be done and what was not necessary. He was very friendly and respectful, meticulously removing his work shoes each time he entered the house. We got an honest and professional opinion with absolutely no up-selling.

He came out and did a great job with the water softener and regulator. He also took the time to show me how I could do my own maintenance on our tankless water heater . Other professionals would possibly not have been so kind in sharing their knowledge so that they could charge extra for the services themselves. Additionally, he fixed one of our sinks which had slow flow out of the faucet at no extra cost!

James is an excellent plumber and a super good guy.

We recently moved in to a ""new"" house to discover that we could not use our kitchen sink without disgusting brown water coming up the other side. We have been using James as our regular plumber now for a couple months and he has been exceptional so I felt the need to post a review. He has installed water heaters, dishwashers, and helped us with emergency plumbing issues along the way. He is always on time, extremely pleasant to work with and I trust him in my house if I ever needed to leave. All around James has been one of the best and most reliable service providers we have encountered since buying our home and we have encountered many. I would highly recommend him. Worth mentioning is that when we have needed someone in a pinch and he has been unable to help, he has gladly recommended someone instead of taking on something he couldn't complete which I respect greatly. You will not regret using James!

I called him Tuesday, scheduled him to come this morning and install a faucet and clean a drain, plus maybe some other stuff. I didn't bother to call anyone else, and I didn't shop around. I'm honest and I don't nickel and dime.

Anyway,

He is officially a complete no show, no call, no answer. Message at the listed number says the phone number has been disconnected. In any case he just failed to show up. Period.

I would have happily and easily forgiven a call to reschedule or even a call to cancel, forbid that it was necessary. But the only excuse for dropping the ball so badly is a major life trauma or some sort of major unpredictable communications failure. (The former of which I would ever wish upon anyone.)

So, I would usually assume something bad happened, and give the benefit of the doubt, except it's clear form the other reviews below that this is a habitual failure.
