In June we were unfortunate enough to experience a sewer break in the wall between our second floor and basement. As you can imagine it was a mess with sewage on the floor and seeping into our neighbor's house, not to mention expensive. Pray to the plumbing Gods that this never happens to you!

Many years ago I worked for a plumbing company so I knew right off the bat this would be thousands to repair. With my go to (Ranck's Plumbing) no longer in business I had no choice but to seek a new plumber, one that had a sewer camera, and could come right away. An online search of plumbers with cameras yielded very few results in my area. I called a few and left messages. Ober's was a company I found on Yelp for having good & honest reviews and they were local which was a huge plus. I took a chance on them having a camera and was thankful that they did. Jerry, the owner was awesome! He even came to my house for a free consult to make sure he could run the camera before he sent his crew over - that was much appreciated! My house is almost 100 years old so there was some fear of the unknown.

At the free consult he spent a considerable amount of time exploring possible scenarios and discussing options. Jerry is very hands on and explains things in a way you can understand without judgement. Once he determined the camera could be ran I provided the key and returned to work. Jerry and his crew did the rest. Within hours I had a verbal quote.

Was it expensive? Yes, spending a few thousand for something you can't see is alot of money, but sewer is a necessity. Although I don't have anything to compare it to other than my experience in this field many years ago I do feel his price was fair and most likely considerably less than what larger firms would charge for the same scale of work. I especially liked that Jerry understood that I wanted the least invasive option available and was sensitive to my request not rip out my newer kitchen to gain access. To save money hubby did some of the demo with Jerry's instruction.

Since we're talking about a considerable amount of money I didn't feel comfortable with a verbal quote alone. However once I requested one in writing Jerry provided one the next day in great detail.

The work took a few days to complete, and a few days till they could start due to some issues with our insurance adjuster. During that time-period Jerry was always accessible, answered all of our questions, and took our many phone calls without issue or attitude. Once the insurance adjuster was out of the way he was prompt to get us on the schedule so we could have use of our facilities again.

The work was completed as promised and my house was left in satisfactory condition. While they did comply with my request to lock up daily, a light was left on the first day.

So why 4 stars instead of 5?
I always feel a little uncomfortable asking for something that I feel should be standard (in this case a written quote).
They do things old school so they couldn't email the quote but were able to fax it.
The price of running the camera is expensive and it's standard procedure to record the process to show the homeowner exactly what the problem is. While they do have the camera they don't use the video and didn't relay this to me until I asked.

While I'm so thankful for Jerry and his team and to have this experience in my rear view window I would/will use Ober's again and would happily recommend him to anyone seeking an honest, fair, local, knowledge plumber.

Called Ober's when the previous plumber didn't call me back with an estimate to fix my hot water heater and kitchen faucet. They called me back with options within an hour and came out the next morning. The plumber was efficient, knew his product and cleaned up after he was finished. Next time I need a plumber, Ober's will be at the top of the list of calls I make!

Recently, we required emergency service from Ober Plumbing. They went to my home 30 minutes after the phone call. The service was fast, problem resolved in one visit and bill was fair. Very professional and efficient.

A leaking garbage disposal on a holiday weekend prompted a first time call to Ober. Eric came the next day and installed a new disposal unit. Quick and clean work. They are now my plumber of record

I've used Ober's a few times over the years and will continue to do so. I just had an issue with them over a bill. The issue itself is complicated and does not need explained. What matters most is that Ober's was fair about everything and provided fair and friendly customer service. I really appreciated it.
