This will be that last review I give Northstar but thought it was important to leave this information for the public. They call and call and call, then call some more. IT IS RIDICULOUS how much these people call - it's borderline harrassment.I was done with them but, last year, they said we were due for one of our ""free"" maintenance checks on our A/C. We would also have a free one to flush our water heater. Anyway, they serviced the A/C - to the tune of $1200 for some motor. The unit was only 4 or 5 years old but my husband agreed to it. Then, they scheduled time to do the water heater flush so we made an appointment for that. We also need a plumbing issue looked at - great. They can do it at the same appointment. About 20 minutes before the appointment, we get a call saying that the technician was stuck at another call (understandable) and that they would call back to reschedule. A week (or more) goes by and no phone calls. Mind you, this company must have their staff on an auto-dialing system, from several different phone #'s because prior to their cancelling out appointment, the calls were ANNOYINGLY FREQUENT. Finally, someone calls but I am done with them and don't answer. They call my husband. The call OUR SON who isn't even on the account and I'm not sure how they got his phone #. Different phone #'s calling numerous times a week/day/month - harrassement perhaps? They finally get ahold of my husband who sets an appointment for the water heater flush. I tell him I was done with them and that I wanted to give our business to a Veteran owned company. He said he call them back to cancel. Last night, I'm on the phone with my son who lives in another state, a call comes in from Northstar. I don't answer, as I'm on the phone. They call my husband - he was busy and didn't answer. They call MY SON AGAIN who just got home from running errands. THEN THEY CALL MY PHONE # AGAIN!!! Seriously, is this not harrassment? I finish my phone call with my out of state son and call them back. Explained to her the months, even years of issues with Northstar. I was nice to her because I feel bad for these employees whose job seems to be harrassing existing customers. Management - please, look what you're doing. The customer service reps are great and doing their jobs but WHY THE RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF PHONE CALLS?? I am curious as to whether others have had this issue with them. I am not even exaggerating.

Loved the customer service provided by Alan and Juan. They were courteous, careful to take care of protecting our floors, and answered any questions presented to them. The installation of the new AC unit went very smoothly. Absolutely no hitch. When we get the next one installed we would love to have Alan and Juan come back to install that unit.

We also enjoyed our time with Rick. He was very patient in explaining what we needed and the options we needed to consider. He was not pushy and we felt that he had our interest in mind.

We would recommend this company to anyone. The staff that we have met so far and even over the phones were friendly and courteous.

Would like to recognize two office administrators by the names of Debbie and Valerie. Their expertise, patience, and kindness were all greatly appreciated when corresponding over a few days period. Any questions or concerns I may have had were quickly answered with care and appreciation. Thank you ladies for the excellent service that you both provided when representing Northstar.

We purchased an AC unit 3 years ago and the maintenance service has been great. The customer service has been very professional, and personable. Edwin the technician did a great job explaining how our system worked and what must be done to keep it working at its best.

My AC went out last night and I had no idea who to call. Everyone was booked at least 5 days out and I just couldn't wait. Reached out and spoke with the customer service rep by the name of Tamara. She was quick to get me on the books for next available, since she knew the severity of my situation. Northstar came out the next day and turns out that my filter needed to be changed. The technician, Andrew showed me that I needed to change my filters every 3 months and provided the correct size so I can purchase them myself. Once again, service was 5 stars and the communication was excellent. I can't thank them enough for getting me up and running again.

I was a multi year client of Northstar until yesterday. My A/C needed to be recharged with 9 gallons of R22 refrigerant. I called Northstar and a service tech responded. He rightly determined that I had a leak in the system. I requested to have the R22 and sealant put in for now. He quoted me a price of $3500. I was flabbergasted! I checked the price of R22 and a 30 gallon container was $725 to $945. I asked the service tech why are you charging this outrageous price. His answer was, ""that's what our book tells me to charge you "". I asked him if he could justify the exorbitant price and he couldn't.
I, obviously, did not use their services and called another licensed A/C company to do the simple task of recharging my A/C unit for less than 1/3 the price of Northstar. Please do a little research before using any A/C company and it could save you thousands.

Both Jason and Charley, went beyond the call of duty in repairing our tankless water heater! They had to exchange a hot water heater that was not rated for 7000 feet, which is where we live in big bear lake! And they were both extremely kind and courteous, and were extremely efficient at what they were doing! in addition to exchanging the water heater they installed recirculation pumps that allow for instantaneous hot water in the kitchen and the most distant bathroom! They also serviced our shower in one of our bathrooms to make it function correctly! I would highly recommend both of these individuals for any plumbing work that was needed in your home! They both should be commended for their excellent work as well as their kind and courteous service demonstrated during the repair call on our behalf!!! Jason took the lead and was able to both find incorrect mini issues that were associated with the warranty repairs that he had to perform!!! Again, I would highly recommend Jason for any plumbing repair needed in your home!!!

Had a bid from these guys to do some plumbing in the shower before we had it tiled they gave us a bid of $3800. I thought that they were there to do the work but it appears they were only there to quote it got another bid the same day and the job done for $1100 they bid some other stuff for some friends. The same thing way overpriced They are the biggest rip off in the plumbing business. If you get a bid from them make sure you get another bid from someone else.

Northstar Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning in San Dimas, California acquired John A. Martin Heating and Air Conditioning. I dealt with Martin for years and Martin was a company of honesty, integrity and they valued customer relationships. Northstar does not demonstrate honesty, integrity and the value of customer relationships

Before posting this review, I requested to speak with a Northstar manager on two occasions to address the problem described below, but Northstar has not responded to my requests. Since Northstar is ignoring me, I'm sharing my experience for other users to consider when researching heating and air conditioning companies.

While at my home for a routine air conditioning service, Northstar offered to install an ""air scrubber"" in my heating and ac unit. Based on Northstar's verbal statement, I understood the cost of the air scrubber to be twenty-four dollars ($24.00). When the job was done, I learned the cost of the air scrubber was twenty-four hundred dollars ($2,400.00)!. I didn't know this at the time, but California law requires contractors to provide a written estimate if the cost of repairs will exceed five-hundred dollars ($500.00). There would have been no miscommunication regarding the price of the air scrubber if Northstar obeyed the law.

To make matters worse, the air scrubber can be found online selling for $975.00 to $1045.00. The air scrubber is a Micropure MX4, 9"" model for 3 to 5 ton HVC Systems.

After the job was done and I learned the air scrubber cost $2,400.00, I asked the tech to uninstall it and take it back. The tech told me it would be too difficult to uninstall the air scrubber, although it took the tech less than half an hour to install it.

I paid the tech the amount the the technician said I owed Northstar for the air scrubber, because I trusted Northstar would resolve this issue, and I also did not want a contractor's lien placed on my home for disputing this transaction.

Initially, I attributed this transaction to the inexperience or lack of training of the Northstar technician. But, since Northstar is ignoring my requests to discuss this issue, I can only conclude my story represents Northstar's way of doing business. If you choose to deal with Northstar, be very careful with this firm.
