Company Overview

Since 2002, we have been the go-to remodeling company for the northside of Chicago.

Focusing on bathroom remodels, tub setups, tile work, and walk-in showers, we also handle kitchen, bedroom, and basement renovations. Trust our licensed general contractors to turn your ideas into reality!

We excel in interior remodeling, including kitchens and bathrooms, and also provide drywall/painting, water damage repairs, basement renovations, plumbing, electrical services, trim, and tile work (such as backsplashes and fireplace tiling). We proudly serve Chicago and most neighboring suburbs on the northside.

Effective communication is essential. We prefer to overcommunicate rather than risk undercommunication. I offer clients a checklist and complimentary detailed estimates, along with my contact information and that of my lead team, so we remain on the same page during your project!

Our full-time team is dedicated to delivering prompt, skilled, and courteous service on every job we take on. Customer satisfaction is at the heart of our operations. We have proudly received the Angi customer super service award for seven consecutive years! Our commitment is evident in our ratings, boasting 5 stars on Angi, Home Advisor, Google, and almost 5 stars on Yelp!

In 2002, I launched my own venture after 13 years in the commercial and residential construction sector. I continue to work with many clients who helped me get started and have built a network of like-minded craftsmen (HVAC, flooring specialists, etc.) whom I trust for larger projects.

While we expand gradually, we emphasize quality workmanship and being on-site to guarantee efficiency and quality control. The name Northside reflects our commitment to local service (and avoiding traffic!), so we can efficiently serve the North side of Chicago.

I was born in 1968, with a rich background of half Japanese and half Welsh/English/Irish/French ancestry. I graduated from Von Steuben, attended Truman and Metro State College in Denver, and lived in Colorado from 1991 to 1999. I worked for Earthwood Builders from 1999 to 2002. I have two sisters and one brother (who is still living). I now live in the Rogers Park area of Chicago.

We just had North Side Renovations combine two bedrooms into a large master bedroom and everything went smoothly and the room looks amazing! The estimate was right on where Jeremy said it would be. Jeremy is a wonderful guy to work with, nice, responsive, and was the only contractor who actually seemed to care about our business and the quality of work being done. We'll definitely be going to Jeremy for future projects (and we have a few in our old house).

I contacted NR back in early January. Jeremy came over right away to give me an estimate for remodeling my kitchen and bathroom. I already had an idea of what I wanted to do and Jeremy's estimate was in my range as well as itemized so I understood what I was paying for. I got quotes from two other contractors and they were both much higher due to expecting to take on work that wasn't necessarily needed, which I luckily knew was the case. Within a short period of time the work started and I couldn't be more pleased. The kitchen and bathroom look fantastic as the quality of the work was great, sorry for not providing pictures. The entire project was done on budget and on time. I was happy that I could find a solid contractor in my own neighborhood and would use NR again if I had any major projects to tackle.

Is a job ever going to always go exactly as you anticipated? Folks get sick, mistakes happen, but Jeremy and his North Side/Northside crew do their best to make it right.

I shopped the top three Yelped contractors around Rogers Park with good reviews in doing bathroom remodels. We were looking to do both our bathrooms, one after another.

Jeremy was quick to respond with scheduling a visit to do an estimate (ok...he probably was the closest geographically). The two others came shortly after. What I wound up with was three bids at what must be three different tiers of service. At the highest tier (at 3x the price) provided design services at our home with selections of finishes. Northside was the lowest tier - but provided what we needed - we select our finishes by going to designers (or DIY) at what he recommended nearby - Home Depot and Floor & Decor (for tile - ask for Cyndy for design help)...and they take care of the installation.

We figured we can try out Northside for our first bathroom and then reevaluate for the second bath. While some designer/contractors may suggest adding custom finishes - Jeremy was practical about considering the tradeoffs of higher cost custom work versus off-the-shelf options to address the same issues.

We got things started in November with the hope that we would be able to enjoy two new bathrooms by New Years. (we would be away for Christmas). Guess what...they did it. They timed it great with two week estimates for each and we allowed for one extra week buffer. No problems trusting them with keys during the project. They got one bathroom done and in service for us before Thanksgiving (we were in town), and the other bathroom done before we had to leave town for Christmas.

Very patient and understanding with our concerns before, during, and through the punch list wrap of both bathrooms. During the demo work, they set aside items so that I could Craigslist items for reuse rather than sending them straight to the dump. I found it easy to meet with his staff at the timely start of each of their days to resolve questions about the direction of work, and reach Jeremy or his staff by phone/text/email as needed.

Enough words...here's our photos. (Decided not to post before photos...trust me they looked terrible in terms of wasting space in a small bathroom with oversized fixtures and lack of storage. Windows in shower/bath spaces were previously done with partial or full wood trim. Not that there would be any confusion between before and after.) :)

Jeremy Aylesworth was the most responsive (via phone, email and text) contractor I have EVER worked with! I contacted him the week before Thanksgiving and he came out on that Saturday to give us a quote. His quote included everything but he was very open to my questions about any 'unforeseen' costs that may arise and how he charges for them (i.e. the hard to find trim we have). His quote was almost spot on to the final cost which was a welcomed change from a previous contractor we worked with a year ago.

Jeremy's crew arrived with in the given time period they said they would everyday and Jeremy always made daily check ins to see how they were doing. I left my keys with them because we aren't home during the day but kept an eye on things via our home security cameras and never saw anything but work going on. They cleaned up everyday to the best of their ability which was very much appreciated since it's our main hallway they were working on in addition to the bedroom. They finished exactly when they estimated they would and it seriously looks perfect (better than I even envisioned).

Since owning our home we have had multiple contractors in for various projects and NONE have compared to Jeremy and his crew! I feel so excited to finally have found someone to use for future projects!

I have used Northside Rennovations multiple times. Jeremy and his crew do a great job. Jeremy is upfront about what they can/ can't do and helps guide owners on what they should do and what can wait.

Three years later, North Side Renovations is alive and well and still offering outstanding household services. They just completed completely painting my apartment. (I live in my owner-occupied two-flat.) They also did some minor carpentry on the windows and basement door. Now I just keep a list of minor fixes and call when the list starts to grow. Jeremy is a fantastic contractor who always provides very skilled, perfectionist trades people.

They were easy to book, and pleasant to meet, and their professionalism during the project was appreciated, but the aftermath was despicable.

When we contacted them to come clean up the mess they'd left behind, it took days to get them to come back and do something, and when they finally did, they left lots of holes and staples in the walls. (There was a major change from their initial positive attitudes to their rude return.)
Now, there are embarrassing tracks left all across the kitchen, living room, and entrance space of our apartment.

Even though they took care of our problem, they left more issues behind, so I would NOT recommend hiring them.

Jeremy and his crew did an extensive remodel of our Buena Park Condo. He gutted and renovated the bathrooms and kitchen, recommended an excellent contractor to refurbish and refinish our floors, and did extensive electrical work throughout. Jeremy was courteous, trustworthy and true to his estimates. We were very happy with his work and love living in the results.

They met our time frame and did great, fast work on such short notice. They were also a pleasure to deal with on the phone and in person. I would recommend them to anyone who is needing construction work done in the future.

Can't speak for their work since I never got past the estimate appointment that Jeremy totally flaked on. After an initial phone call Jeremy called me back and set an appointment between 10AM and 11AM the next day. He did not show or phone. I called him at 11AM and when I reminded him of the appointment, he said ""oops I forgot about that"". Needless to say I was pretty annoyed and told him I wouldn't do business with him. He then called me back and offered to be at my place in 10 minutes. When I scheduled the original appointment with him I mentioned that I was on a tight schedule and had an 11:30 meeting that I had to attend. Not the company for me.
