North Side Renovations
Company Overview
We are the most trusted remodeling company in Chicago, serving the northside since 2002.
Our expertise lies in bathroom renovations, tub installations, tile setting, and walk-in showers, along with kitchen, bedroom, and basement transformations. We are the licensed general contractors ready to bring your vision to life!
While kitchens and bathrooms are our specialties, we also offer drywall and painting services, water damage repairs, basement renovations, plumbing, electrical work, trim, and tile installations (like backsplashes and fireplace tiling). We serve Chicago and many nearby suburbs on the northside.
Effective communication is essential. We prefer to overcommunicate rather than risk undercommunication. I provide clients with a checklist and free detailed estimates, along with my number and my lead team's contact information, ensuring we stay aligned throughout your project!
We have a full-time staff committed to providing timely, skilled, and respectful service on every project we undertake. Customer satisfaction is at the heart of our operations. We are honored to have won the Angi customer super service award for seven years running! Our commitment is evident in our ratings, boasting 5 stars on Angi, Home Advisor, Google, and almost 5 stars on Yelp!
I started my own business in 2002 after spending 13 years in the commercial and residential construction industry. I still collaborate with clients who supported my beginnings and have developed a network of skilled craftsmen (HVAC, flooring experts, etc.) I rely on for bigger projects.
While we expand gradually, we emphasize quality workmanship and being on-site to guarantee efficiency and quality control. I named the company Northside to focus locally (and avoid traffic!), allowing us to effectively serve the North side of Chicago.
I was born in 1968, with a rich background of half Japanese and half Welsh/English/Irish/French ancestry. I graduated from Von Steuben, attended Truman and Metro State College in Denver, and lived in Colorado from 1991 to 1999. I was with Earthwood Builders from 1999 until 2002. I have one brother (who is living) and two sisters. I now live in the Rogers Park area of Chicago.

Denise U.So yeah. We had some interior damage and stuff from a roof leak. Jeremy and his team gave me a reasonable quote and started the work within a couple of weeks. They were strangely punctual for contractors and did a nice job. They were all very professional and worked pretty quickly.
We've worked with Jeremy and his guys a couple of times now and have had good experiences. They gutted and redone a couple of bathrooms for us. They've also done a little electrical work, painting, lots of drywall, replacing doors, etc. The work has been done in a timely manner and for a very fair price. There have been a couple of times one of the guys has made a mistake and realized they were going to need to go back and redo some work and they've always done so without any argument. You can be confident that they're not going mess up your job and walk away as some contractors would. We've always found Jeremy to be a very reasonable person, very easy to work with.
Charles H.Jeremy got back to me right away regarding a minor ceiling issue I had in my condo. 1 of his employees, Max, showed up on-time and took care of the work right away and was in and out within an hour and a half (not to mention they were able to deal with my ever-changing schedule). Our ceiling looks good as new.
Jared S.I've worked with Jeremy at Northside Renovations on several projects for my unit as well as projects for my condo building. His prices are very reasonable and the work has always been top-notch. I will definitely be using Northside again in the future and would have no problem recommending them to friends or family.
Jeremy came out to my small rental unit to get some heavy 1970s bifold closet doors back on their tracks (it just didn't seem cost justified to replace them yet, and they are 7 feet tall and pretty heavy press board) so I could get a new tenant in there. We'll see how his work holds up, but I'm happy with it so far. I felt I could trust Jeremy--he was polite and appropriate, apologized for leaving a small mess, had to cancel day prior for a tooth infection issue, but showed up when he said he would for the second appointment. He seemed to have a good on the go knowledge of getting old parts and working with what was available to him (the building maintenance head had already said the company making the closet parts had closed down), and so he did what he could to get the closet system back up and functioning. He took a look at other bits of the closet that seemed wonky. I felt the price was fair. Haven't used the rest of his team but would definitely give them a try again, especially with historic homes because it sounds like he has a knowledge of that, too. Solid work and resourceful.
Katie S.We just had North Side Renovations combine two bedrooms into a large master bedroom and everything went smoothly and the room looks amazing! The estimate was right on where Jeremy said it would be. Jeremy is a wonderful guy to work with, nice, responsive, and was the only contractor who actually seemed to care about our business and the quality of work being done. We'll definitely be going to Jeremy for future projects (and we have a few in our old house).
David P.I contacted NR back in early January. Jeremy came over right away to give me an estimate for remodeling my kitchen and bathroom. I already had an idea of what I wanted to do and Jeremy's estimate was in my range as well as itemized so I understood what I was paying for. I got quotes from two other contractors and they were both much higher due to expecting to take on work that wasn't necessarily needed, which I luckily knew was the case. Within a short period of time the work started and I couldn't be more pleased. The kitchen and bathroom look fantastic as the quality of the work was great, sorry for not providing pictures. The entire project was done on budget and on time. I was happy that I could find a solid contractor in my own neighborhood and would use NR again if I had any major projects to tackle.
Elvin C.Is a job ever going to always go exactly as you anticipated? Folks get sick, mistakes happen, but Jeremy and his North Side/Northside crew do their best to make it right.
I shopped the top three Yelped contractors around Rogers Park with good reviews in doing bathroom remodels. We were looking to do both our bathrooms, one after another.
Jeremy was quick to respond with scheduling a visit to do an estimate (ok...he probably was the closest geographically). The two others came shortly after. What I wound up with was three bids at what must be three different tiers of service. At the highest tier (at 3x the price) provided design services at our home with selections of finishes. Northside was the lowest tier - but provided what we needed - we select our finishes by going to designers (or DIY) at what he recommended nearby - Home Depot and Floor & Decor (for tile - ask for Cyndy for design help)...and they take care of the installation.
We figured we can try out Northside for our first bathroom and then reevaluate for the second bath. While some designer/contractors may suggest adding custom finishes - Jeremy was practical about considering the tradeoffs of higher cost custom work versus off-the-shelf options to address the same issues.
We got things started in November with the hope that we would be able to enjoy two new bathrooms by New Years. (we would be away for Christmas). Guess what...they did it. They timed it great with two week estimates for each and we allowed for one extra week buffer. No problems trusting them with keys during the project. They got one bathroom done and in service for us before Thanksgiving (we were in town), and the other bathroom done before we had to leave town for Christmas.
Very patient and understanding with our concerns before, during, and through the punch list wrap of both bathrooms. During the demo work, they set aside items so that I could Craigslist items for reuse rather than sending them straight to the dump. I found it easy to meet with his staff at the timely start of each of their days to resolve questions about the direction of work, and reach Jeremy or his staff by phone/text/email as needed.
Enough words...here's our photos. (Decided not to post before photos...trust me they looked terrible in terms of wasting space in a small bathroom with oversized fixtures and lack of storage. Windows in shower/bath spaces were previously done with partial or full wood trim. Not that there would be any confusion between before and after.) :)
Brooke D.Jeremy Aylesworth was the most responsive (via phone, email and text) contractor I have EVER worked with! I contacted him the week before Thanksgiving and he came out on that Saturday to give us a quote. His quote included everything but he was very open to my questions about any 'unforeseen' costs that may arise and how he charges for them (i.e. the hard to find trim we have). His quote was almost spot on to the final cost which was a welcomed change from a previous contractor we worked with a year ago.
Jeremy's crew arrived with in the given time period they said they would everyday and Jeremy always made daily check ins to see how they were doing. I left my keys with them because we aren't home during the day but kept an eye on things via our home security cameras and never saw anything but work going on. They cleaned up everyday to the best of their ability which was very much appreciated since it's our main hallway they were working on in addition to the bedroom. They finished exactly when they estimated they would and it seriously looks perfect (better than I even envisioned).
Since owning our home we have had multiple contractors in for various projects and NONE have compared to Jeremy and his crew! I feel so excited to finally have found someone to use for future projects!
Shikari S.I have used Northside Rennovations multiple times. Jeremy and his crew do a great job. Jeremy is upfront about what they can/ can't do and helps guide owners on what they should do and what can wait.
