I had complained about a leaking water sound in my wall for several months and they had come out a few times for 10-15 minutes of looking for wet places or obvious leaks. Never found it, but I could hear it constantly at night when the house was quite. They replaced two toilets and still didn't fix the problem but kept charging me. Finally I found the problem MYSELF it was the pressure relief valve on my hot water heater and was draining through the wall in the kitchen into the crawl space. Then they wanted to charge me to fix that too!! Not good at finding problems. Really good at invoices for the work not needed?

My insurance company paid the guy double time to install my water heater due to it being a weekend. He came out two days later and completed the job. He broke my valve in the process and charged me an additional $150. He also charged me $150 for what my insurance didn't cover. Stear clear.

Our garbage disposal bit the dirt. My back is hurting so I didn't want to change it myself. I called North Shore plumbing and they scheduled an appointment. They had to change to the time but called to tell us. They showed up and snaked the drain and then started the long slow process of changing the disposal. I'm pretty sure I could have done it quicker myself. 4 hours later the job was done. Total cost was $720. I could have bought the disposal myself for $179+tax but I realize companies have to cover their labor and overhead.Still, seemed a little high.

Pro: North Shore Plumbing returned my phone call and got the job done, which was replacing a toilet lever on one of my toilets. (Would have done it myself, but it's a vacation rental and I wasn't able to get there in a timely fashion).

Con: Got charged $138 for what was probably a 10 minute job and maybe $10 part.

We had a 5 year old Rinnai tankless water heater that had never worked properly, with periodic knocking noises and the hot water shutting off during showers occasionally. Other service providers had tried to solve the problem but failed. Al worked at it and determined in a methodical way over several weeks what the problems were, finally figuring out that improper installation of the chimney was the main culprit. Now the heater works fine. Al spent a lot of time, but we were not at all surprised this was necessary given our prior unsuccessful attempts to get this fixed. We thought his bill was very fair given the effort required.
