This is a very good company but I feel like the cost can be a bit higher than other options. That being said I always feel like you also get what you pay for, which is top notch service. My ceiling had a leak and they were quick to arrive, find the problem and get it fixed. Their man was professional and clean, which I appreciated. I would recommend them for any plumbing emergency.

I am incredibly disappointed with my recent Richard P. Waltz (RPW) experience. I had my furnace serviced in 2013 for a total of 258. When I scheduled my service this year I expected a similar expense but was met with a bill for 380!!! When I questioned the service, I was told that a test kit and soot vac was formerly included packaged from a third party vendor and now comes separately from RPW. When I asked if there was a chance that RPW would return to said vendor in the future to save their customers money I was told, ""Not likely, it is the cost of doing business."" The cost of doing business for whom? Certainly not Richard P. Waltz! I suspect that they make a healthy margin off those parts and are lining their pockets with unsuspecting customers cash. Regardless, their unwillingness to seek a less expensive alternative is unacceptable and lazy. I feel taken advantage of and furthermore feel that my loyalties to RPW have been betrayed. From the mouth of a 3 year RPW user, I will not employ Richard P. Waltz again.

Our heater went out during a snowstorm and 5 degree temps. One call and we were told a service tech would be there within 3 hours. OK- Lit a fire and hunkered down, for 20 minutes. It was that quick and he was at the door and on the job. It was a quick fix ( a blocked vent from a neighbor blowing snow ) and problem solved. Fast, courteous and efficient. Great service.

We had a small plumbing job recently - a tub stem needed to be replaced. The service was fine. But, like others I was shocked to find that I was paying $88/hour for travel time. I live in Portland within a few miles of their office. I was charged $70. for travel. When I called to question the charge I was told there might have been a lot of traffic. My thought - I think this charge should be stated up front when the appt. is made so customers have the choice of saying no thank you. My final charge was $209 - 1/3 for travel. There has to be a better choice.

i called richard p waltz plumbing for a shall we say, sewage crisis in my basement. the first company i called completely stood me up for a 7:30am appointment, the second company said they were booked solid for 3 days, and the dispatcher at richard p waltz was helpful, friendly, and i had a call back from the plumber when he was on his way 5 minutes later.

jay [the plumber] showed up, listened to the problem without belittling me for being female, and immediately got to work. he opened the house trap at the very edge of my basement foundation, diagnosed what was likely the problem, and flushed the trap with a decent amount of water pressure. he then went to the beginning of the line [which my friend had already spent 4+ hours snaking the day before] and flushed the line from there. a disgusting amount of sludge burbled out, which he said would have likely backed up again if it hadnt been cleared out.

he was very apologetic for having to charge for travel time [portland to sopo] but it came to a very reasonable $160 total. i would definitely call them the next time [fingers crossed i won't have to] i have a plumbing problem, and recommend them to anyone in the area
