Called Next Gen Plumbing on Thursday night. Was told they would be there between 7:30 am and 8:30 am the next morning. They were actually a bit early. Fernando and Charles were very professional, and did a thorough and very quick job. They put in a copper pipe where our old pipe for the sprinklers had a hole in it. They were also very fair in their price.

One star: Jake came over and seemed to understand the problem with my wall-mounted toilet, and said he's dealt with this sort of thing before and would order the part that day. One-star: their receptionist picks up quickly and is very nice. Zero stars: after no call back a week later and three calls to the office (""Jake's just really busy!"" ""He'll *definitely* call you back in the next three minutes!!"" etc.), I can't get this company to follow up. Moving on.

Protip, guys: if you don't want to do the particular job, or are just too busy to get to it anytime soon, JUST SAY SO. It's the simple, polite thing to do. Then we can all get our business dealt with and get on with our day.

New Generation went above and beyond with a significant leak we had in our basement. We had a few plumbers come out to give us estimates, and they were all within the same range. We chose New Generation because of their professionalism, friendliness, and punctuality. Both days they actually showed up early and waited until the appointment time to ring our doorbell. They did a beautiful job (as beautiful as pipes can be) and were wonderful to work with. Highly recommend.

Incredibly nice and polite crew came to my house after my faucet stopped working. They fixed it in minutes and taught me what to do in case of a water emergency.

And they had big smiles on their faces - the entire time. It was actually kind of fun! Who would have thought that getting your faucet fixed could be fun?

5/5 would call again. Maybe a little excited for something to break so I can call these guys. Just a little bit.

Had some work done on a exterior 4"" cast iron drain pipe that went under the house. Carlos and Tony did an excellent job. They were very professional and were on time. The price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this company if you need any plumbing work.

Exceptional service! I called because our toilet wasn't filling up properly so it wouldn't flush. Fernando immediately knew what was wrong. He went to pick up a part, came back 15 minutes later and replaced the part within 5 minutes! Whole thing took under 30 minutes! Im so happy we have our second bathroom back! Definitely using them again!

We hired New Generation to repair our sewer line. Out of all of the companies we spoke to, they were by far the most upfront, didn't try to upsell us on anything, and responded quickly and with real answers anytime we had a question. Their work was completed in the timeline we were told, they work was clean, and communication was excellent.

Martin and Jose were fantastic to work with and stayed with the project from beginning to end, as we requested. We were incredibly pleased with their pride in their work and their ability to deliver quality workmanship and great customer service.

AVOID! They will massively overcharge you if they think they can get away with it, especially if you seem to be desperate or unfamiliar with plumbing. Charged us over $800/hr. for a simple fix.

I was traveling overseas recently when the house drains started backing up. My wife didn't know what to do, so she called New Generation because they had great Yelp reviews (but don't look too far down the list). They come out and quote her $4,000 to fix the plumbing because there were a bunch of things needed. She eventually got ahold of me, I called them asking to talk to the person who quoted that and asked for a written estimate with some detail of what seemed like a massive amount for a clogged drain.

That person wasn't available to talk, but they promised me an estimate by the end of the day. I wake up (in London) to no estimate, of course. Told my wife to not have them do anything until they can tell you what your paying for. In my estimation, to fix just the portion of the pipe that was blocked was 2 hours and about 30 bucks worth of parts. They show up the next morning, even though it's not clear she had agreed to the fix and challenges them on the price. They then admit they can actually fix the blockage for (only) $1,600. Still refused to give a written estimate (because it would take time and they might not get it done today...) but explained how complicated it was and knew she was desperate to get this fixed and get back to work.

They were done and out of there in 1:45 hrs -- which included time to take pictures of other work they were ""recommending."" We paid over 800/hr for a simple job because they knew they could take advantage of someone. This should be illegal, but it is at very least unconscionable.

***Edit***

Can I remove a star for condescendingly telling me that I must not understand pricing? I have been remodeling houses for nearly 20 years. I've hired loads of contractors. I used to work for an electrical contractor. I know how pricing works. I would know more about how your pricing worked if you had sent me the detailed written estimate your office promised - or provided it to my wife.

But let's explore... A job that as a marginally competent handyperson I could do myself in a bit over 2 hours plus a trip to the Home Depot. A single master plumber could do the same because it's not specialty work. 4' of 2"" drain replacement, plus the junction to the cast iron main, plus pumping small backup of gray water. Comfortably 2 hours between a master and tech, $30-40 worth of parts, max. Can do without super specialty tools, but maybe you had an industrial snap cutter and pump - nothing that wouldn't be standard kit for a plumbing contractor.

So the internet indicates average price for a master plumber in LA is ~$100/hour. Master plus tech probably $160. 2 hours plus thoroughly marked up parts, $400. Travel charge? Maybe $100? I can't get to more than $500 even assuming generous margins.

But I tell you what - I'll contact 3 other plumbing contractors, describe the job in detail, get their estimate. If ANY ONE of them comes back with a quote for $1600 for this work, I'll edit the review and apologize. If not, you do the job for $400 -- or even the lowest bid from the others. I'm quite sure you'll just keep your extortionate price and hope this review gets buried.

Tony and Carlos were great. They came by to check a hose on my toilet out and install it correctly. They saw that I had opened it because I was trying to put in a handless bidet. They took the time to check out the bidet and see if they could problem solve that too. Friendly and patient.
