Matt A.Okay, so I consider myself quite the handyman. I can build just about anything. Wire up my own lights, switches, fans, and such. Plumbing? Well, I can make it work but really am not a fan.
In 1994 we bought a house that was built in 1947. For the past 10 years we have put up with slow drains, less and less water pressure and for me, my wife making my life painful every time she couldn't shower or the drains backed up. (Usually when I was traveling... House loves me!!)
We decided to remodel one of our bathrooms and while talking about it realized that we would be better off first cleaning up all of the plumbing problems. We spent a few months looking for a company that could do the work, and had a reasonable price range. We knew that our sewer main to the city connection was bad (paid for a camera to go down the pipe a number of years back), and it was obvious that we didn't have enough water pressure and the amount of corrosion/mineral deposits coming out of the faucets were the problem.
We finally decided on Nelson Plumbing. The decision was mostly about the way that PJ handled the review of the house, when others simply through out a number. He took the time, and to be honest, required the time, to do a thorough check of all of the connections, layout of the house, etc.. to make sure that to the best effort he could provide an accurate estimate of time and materials.
Did the estimate change during the work? Sure, but I have never known of anyone who could be 100% accurate even on commercial construction jobs, 100% of the time. Layout, effort or depth of pipes, funky connections from the 40's, etc.. can all be a bit off. We had trade offs in the work. Some things took longer, others took less time. PJ was always careful to walk us through any likely change or option and allow us to decide for ourselves. All in all the work was perfect and the final cost was no surprise.
PJ and Carrie are meticulous about opening up the work area in the morning, doing as much work for the day as possible and completely closing up and cleaning up before they leave at the end of the day.
In the end we had the sewer main repaired, a city clean out installed, all of the house re-piped with copper, not plastic, and along with their partner electrician and drywall guys the finished work was excellent.
This family owned and operated team rock!! I would recommend them to anyone.

J. Y.I am a Property Manager and I needed to find a reputable company to perform major plumbing work. The home was in need of a repipe as well as a main sewer line from the house to the street. I had three companies bid for the work and we chose Nelson's Plumbing. The bid included all that we discussed, including the hassle of obtaining city permits, texturing over an area where the wall needed to be opened up and even changing out the old water heater to a new one. Carrie is an excellent communicator, keeping me posted all along the way as to the progress. PJ literally got down in the trenches and wrestled with some beastly magnolia tree roots. I was not overcharged at the end, the agreed price was what I was charged. Wonderful people who do their job with integrity. Keep them working as I want them around for a long time so when I have a need with another property, they will be here:)
I have had bad plumbing ""luck"" for the last 15 years. My sewer line backed up at least twice a year and there was ""gunk"" coming out of the pipes in the bathrooms. I finally got fed up with everything and decided to have the sewer line replaced and the house re-piped with copper pipes. I started looking for someone to help me with this, however, all of the quotes that I received were all well out of my price range.
I had nearly given up when I found Nelson Plumbing on YELP and decided to get a quote from them as well. I am so glad that we did. PJ came in and looked at all of our pipes and sinks and was able to sit down and give us a very reasonable quote at the end of his visit. He even gave us less expensive options for parts of the job and during the job itself, reduced the price of his estimate because one aspect of the job was not as difficult as they had anticipated it would be.
While they were here, they were also very careful not to make any kind of mess in the house (using tarps, etc) and at the end of each day, they brought their work to a point where everything was put back in order and functional. I know that this took extra time each day - putting everything back only to have to take it down again the next day - but I really appreciated this.
It has been a few weeks since they finished their work at my house and everything is working perfectly. What a difference!
J. L.Have you ever experienced a plumber call you back and ask how things going? Carrie did. And that's how much they care about the quality of their work and customer satisfaction.
I've had two dealings with Nelson Plumbing. The first about 10 years ago with Richard Nelson. I was experiencing some backup in my plumbing (shower water not draining) and first I called the so called Rooter guys and they wanted to charge me $$$ to do a clean-out. They didn't want to use my clean-out and climbed up on my roof. It was like having the three stooges at my house. I let my fingers do the walking and got a hold of Richard Nelson. He quickly came out, fixed my immediate problem and installed a new clean-out for me at a fraction of the cost. This included breaking up concrete, and they did it so the concrete now looked like large steps so I would have to deal with mud.
Several years later, my old Willow Glen sewer pipe broke and again everything was backing up into the house (not pretty on many accounts). This was in Dec around 2003. Carrie came out with another person, and for a week in the pouring rain and cold, dug up cement, and dirt to get to the old sewer line. They put in a new one, gave me a life time guarantee. I was totally blown away at Carrie's knowledge at the time (not even 21 yet) and being very professional. She even did a few side jobs too.
This family rocks and I would recommend them. It's been about 8 years since they've worked on my big project and everything as been great since.
Vasan M.PJ and his wife are good people
We had a major leak in our kitchen wall. The couple came to attend our problem late in the night .
PJ helped us through the whole process of finding the leak and he fixed the pipe which had the leak.
His alacrity is great and he gave us the steps of how to get the water damage fixed as soon as we found the leaking area.
I will call him any day for all my plumbing work for my home.

We decided to have our house plumbing repiped, replacing the galvanized pipe with copper. Richard Nelson of Nelson Plumbing came out on a Sunday to do a site inspection, and gave us a quote that day.
Richard is an experienced master plumber and it shows. He plans his work around what worked best for our specific needs vs. taking the easy or lazy way out. He uses heavier schedule copper pipe than is required to meet code for all his work. His soldering work is excellent. He uses excellent grade of replacement faucets and valves. I was able to see the work that he did on the pipe run from the water meter to the house. Excellent looking work; and this was the section that no one would ever see. This is important, because this is a once in a lifetime upgrade to the house plumbing, and you'll want to be confident that the workmanship provided will meet that expectation. Using the best materials aside, having an expert who passionately cares about the quality of his work is the essential factor for a successful outcome. Richard delivers on this.
He paid attention to details that he wasn't required to. There were pieces of scrap lumber in the crawlspace and without any prompting, removed the material and the potential pest haven that it presented. He resituated the hose bibs on the exterior of the house for more convenient access. He optimized the supply and drainage for the washer/dryer area in the garage. He installed the new water heater in a much more professional manner than the previous plumber did with the old unit.
He cleans up after himself every day. When we returned form work, we were never without water or a working bathroom during the duration of the work. When working in the master bathroom, he covered the bed with a cover to keep it clean. He used drop cloths wherever he traversed or worked.
All in all, an excellent result from a professional. We would use Nelson Plumbing again for any of our plumbing needs.
Very quick response. I called to fix a clogged drain and after my name and number were taken, about one minute later I got a call from Richard. He wasn't able to work on my problem but referred me to Williams Plumbing. He assured me that Williams was the best and told me if I wasn't happy with them to give him a call back. I called Williams Plumbing but they were booked for a couple of days and they gave me a referral for Noah's Plumbing. Noah's Plumbing did a fantastic job and I wouldn't have had the work done quickly and cleanly if it weren't for the referrals from Richard @ Nelson Plumbing. I'm only giving 4 stars because Nelson Plumbing didn't actually work on my problem so I can't rate their workmanship.
Nelson Plumbing did an amazing job installing a new copper water line in front of my house. If my house was not already re-piped I would have them do it in a second. Richard explained my options and really helped me by working with my budget. I also have to say that Carrie and PJ are the Rock Stars of plumbing. They did a meticulous job and didn't mind me being somewhat of a ""groupie"" onlooker while they were working, I got to learn allot. The whole crew of Nelson plumbing goes beyond what anyone would expect when they make that first call to a plumber.
Richard Nelson from Nelson Plumbing just completed an excellent job of repiping our home within the time and cost estimated.
We had water damage at the beginning of Oct. that required replacing the furnace ducting under the house. The ducting installer discovered a weak area in our pipes and suggested we clamp it. We decided it was finally time to get rid of the 46 year-old galvanized pipes and repipe with copper.
Logged onto Yelp and got estimates from two highly rated businesses. The estimates were practically the same but how the job would be done was completely different. One would bring in 6 to 8 workers and basically do the entire job in 10-12 hours on one long day. At first this appealed to us. You know, getting it done as fast as possible and not being inconvenienced for very long. The other was Nelson Plumbing, with Richard Nelson at the helm. Although it would take 10 days to a couple of weeks to get the entire job done, we determined that having one Master Plumber taking his time to do a thorough and professional job was much better than having numerous workers rushing through the work so they could get it done in one day. Either way it would take close to 100 man hours to get the work done. All things considered, we decided we would rather take the time to have Richard do the job, and we're very glad we did!
