Part 2
Friday, August 11th, cooler installed. Well, it's not working properly so my mom called Frank Naughton. He told her he would be going to her house on Monday, August 14th and was a no show. We have pictures of the ""new"" cooler. It has scratches, dents and the doors look like they don't close properly. Water was leaking from the roof and it was blowing out hot air. Please do NOT buy anything from this business because if you do, Frank Naughton will rip you off like he did my 91 year old mother!
I came in on a Sunday just over 2 weeks ago. I bought both capacitors for my roof top AC unit. On my way home with the parts, I decided to call my contractor first, as they had just serviced the unit a few month earlier and had a no break down guarantee. It ended up not being the capacitors and I returned them on Monday. That was 2 weeks ago. The gentleman there said I would get the refund to my credit card. I have not seen that credit yet. Today I called in twice and was hung up on. The 3rd or 4th try later, I was put on hold. The gentleman there on the Monday I went in for the return, took the 4 parts and my receipt. Walked out feeling comfortable that it would be taken care of. 2 weeks later, still no refund.
Kenneth H.They were Very disrespectful and rude on the phone. I guess they don't want new business.
I am a big fan of supporting local businesses, but have been beyond disappointed with this company. At first everything seemed great, I purchased two new AC units for our home in Tucson. The Naughton's installer partially installed one unit and never returned to complete the job! After many attempts to contact the contractor, with no response, we started to contact the owner of Naughton's. He sent out one of his store employees several times, which they were not able to complete the 1st unit installation properly. After going back and forth for months, we decided to hire another contractor! After review from several other contractors,( we were told the same by each one) the units that were sold to us from Naughton's were not even the same ones that were in our purchase contract. Since one unit was partially installed, we wanted to return the other unit. At the time we attempted to return it, we were told that their ""system"" was down and they were not able to refund our money at that moment. We have been back and forth for months now with the same story or avoidance from the store management. The last time we stopped in, one of the employees told us the store was going to be closing soon! Pure dishonesty, value, and lack of customer service!
I called for free inspection with every desire to use Naughtens plumbing to replace a WH. I recieved an estimate for both a water heater and a tankless system. Service initially was great and was excited to use them as they were almost 1k less then Cu***ngs plumbing. I sadly couldn't get their contractor to commit to an appt day/time or recieve a cb, called twice with a full VM, so unable to lv mssg, even sent 2 text that wanted work done by comtractor, but still no go. Called main # and asked for a cb, told would recieve one. Ultimately, had to use the next company. $adly, Naughtens lost a customer that desperately wanted to use them. Other company did great work and service was great, though a bit more pricey, worth it. Wanted to support local company, but had to go elsewhere, still local, but silly reason to lose business, especially with everyone wanting work
I had a very bad experience with Naugton's on Speedway. I bought one of their high-end evaporative coolers and paid for installation. I assumed that Naugtons's would be doing the installaion themselves, but instead they had farmed it out to another company. A couple of weeks after the install I had a problem with the unit and so I contacted Naugton's to request they fix it, as it was under warranty. They refused to do so, saying that they didn't do the install. But when I contacted the company that did the installation, they said they were not responsible because they did not sell the unit. Needless to say, I was furious as I was caught in the middle with neither the seller nor istaller taking any responsibility. I therefore cannot honestly recommend Naugton's for any work involving evaporative coolers. If they operate like that routinely, it is surprising that they have stayed in business.
We have used Naughton's several times both at our home and rental properties. We will continue to use them. They show up when they say they will. They do a great job. They clean up after they are done. They are also very respectful of your time.
I've used them three times. They will have 99.9% of the parts you need. The main big drawback, their prices are I sanely high if you are a simple customer. They charged me $200+tax for a part you can find for $60 online...I am happy to pay for the service but there are limits. They take way to much advantage of their monopolistic situation. I wanted to buy a capacitor, they wanted to charge $50 + tax, the same exact part was $17 on amazon, and I bought finally $28 from an other local store. I don't expect the amazon price from a local business, but I expect a little more integrity.
I've been going to Naughtons for over 20 years. As a property manager, I'm always needing something for our properties and Naughtons has been a life-saver many times. The employees are always ready and able to help and they are a go-to source for us. You can go to Naughtons and get useful advise or you can go to a big box and talk to a salesman/clerk. And I much prefer to buy from local merchants as opposed to indifferent nation-wide chains who send all their profits out of town. Thanks!
DO NOT BY MASTERCOOL or do business with Naughton's. We bought a new Mastercool swamp cooler and installed it to find out it was defective. Several of the fins on the squirrel cage had cuts in them like it was hit with an axe from the inside. After conferring with Naughton's, we were told that they couldn't replace the unit but would replace the squirrel cage. When we received the new squirrel cage, IT TOO, was a damaged and looked like something was dropped on top of it before it was put in the box as the box had no damage.
Long story short, Naughton's will not guarantee it's products unless you are a ""licensed"" tech and is essentially blaming us for the foul swamp cooler because we ""must have installed it improperly"" even though my dad (landlord) has installed 50+ units.
Another thing to add is that Mastcool has changed ownership and now products are less guaranteed and are junk. While I am all FOR supporting local businesses, Naughton's has now sold out and are complete corporate fucks. From now on, buy anything BUT MASTERCOOL.
Thanks Naughton's, don't have to do business with you anymore.
