T S.Absolutely fantastic service from Ariel A. He worked diligently and meticulously to finish the job, which was a replacement of the kitchen faucet and strainer. I've watched a couple of plumbers now, and unlike others who were making do with basic tools, Ariel had the right (task specific) tools for the job. He answered all of my questions, even the ones not related to the job. I couldn't have asked for anything more aside from cost. I believe they are on the more expensive side.
COMPLETE RIP OFF! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!
Needed 2 outside faucets repaired, quote me a price of $425.00 a FAUCET, for a total of $850.00. Said no thank you, paid the estimate fee of $80.00, YES they charge you for an estimate. They have to the cost of service is complete robbery so they have to get money out of you some how. Called HMS Plumber, they gave me an estimate over the phone & completed the work the next day for $245.00. Call HMS Plumbers, they are WONDERFUL.
I rate them low for for a couple of reasons. First, when I made the appointment, they told me they'd come between 7:00 am and 11:00 am. A four-hour window?? Do they think I have nothing better to do than sit around twiddling my thumbs until they arrive? In fact, they showed up at 11:20. They couldn't even arrive within the four hours interval.
Secondly, they have consistently been high-priced. The last job I had them do required a $10 part and took less than half an hour to install. The cost? $286.78. Rather surprising for such a short job.
Then I called them back for an estimate for a different problem, and they quoted over $1,100 dollars. Seemed high again, so I got an estimate from another company -- $251. Less than 1/4 of what My Plumber wanted to charge. Furthermore, they told me they'd come between 12:00 and 2:00 -- a two-hour window -- much more reasonable. So I went with the other company -- and plan to continue to use that other company for both reasons.
Long story short. Run screaming unless you like paying way more than you should and poor customer service. Details- Elderly mom calls My Plumber for clogged kitchen drain. MY Plumber dispatches plumber they have contracted in our area (Winchester, VA) and they arrive promptly. Plumber tells mom she will receive first caller discount and senior discount and that it ""Won't cost that much"". This is the closest thing she received to an estimate of costs. 45 minutes later the drain is snaked out and mom is presented with a bill for $389 after the supposed discounts. Snaking a drain should not cost nearly $400! I phoned MY Plumber the next day representing mom to dispute the bill and was told a manager would phone me back. Two days later I called again since I had heard nothing and was told I would be contacted. 10-12 days later I received a call from Georgette at My Plumber and I explained my issue with the bill and how mom had not received any real estimate of costs, how I felt the price was unreasonable, etc. She said she would phone the plumber who completed the work and get back to me. That was about a month ago and I have heard nothing but crickets. Make your own decisions, but to me a basic service call is $100 and labor for the services rendered should be about $100 totaling $200 for the bill. No parts required for this service. Part of my job as an analyst for uncle sam is to review labor costs for specific construction and repair services so I am familiar with service pricing. I phoned and interviewed three seperate plumbing services in the Winchester area and all said mom was basically ripped off. Of course I knew that already. I just wished she had called me before calling My Plumber.
Customer Service is everything and My Plumber on Gateway Ct. in Manassas is lacking it big time. On Fri. I made an appt. for plumbing service for the next day after 12. After waiting almost 6 hrs. hrs. on a Sat. I called to request the servicemen come Sunday as I had a dinner appt. They came the next day and for less than 2 hrs. of work they snaked out two toilets at $650. I think excessive, but that being said they now work. However, the next day my air conditioning, which previously worked fine, now blew out warm air. Coincidence, maybe, maybe not. Regardless, I called to see if they'd come out again for free, having just been here and I was told by the dispatcher that they would contact a manager. The next communication I received was an email saying a appointment was set up and I received a confirmation number. After waiting around all day the next Sat. (in a very hot house), I again called to see where the servicemen were only to be told my service was put on hold. I asked to speak to a manager; it is now Sunday night at 8:30, I've yet to hear from a manager. Use this My Plumber at your own risk.
NOT My Plumber - Never showed up
Was told they would be at home my between 4pm and 5pm. Left work early and missed a kid's school event waiting.
Finally after calling 3 times I was told at 8pm, they may come as late as 9pm.
I have been a priority club member for at least two years, paying 40.00 per month (20.00 per unit - dual units in my house) for what??? I am questioning now, 2-3 maintenance checks per year is actually now free because you are paying 240.00 a year to be priority club member - more if you have dual units in your house. Well now that I have wised up, the service is 80.00 times that by 3 and you are paying 240.00 per year. Being a PC member, they advertise same day service (well that's what they advertise for everyone if you call in before 10am or so, special discounts of 10% off of service calls, and give coupons for being a PC member. Well, every single time a technician has come out to my home to do the ""FREE"" inspection - they have always found something wrong - OF COURSE... I normally turn down their offer of fixing it on the spot only because I get the sales pitch of the quote is only good for right then and there, which means I can't discuss the issues found with my husband.
But at the same time, I have gone ahead and allowed the technician to perform work on issues that were found wrong... BIG MISTAKE. I was quoted 700.00 for duct cleaning, scheduled to have my ducts cleaned and afterwards was given a bill for 1400.00 - I was shocked. Why I asked, well it was because I have dual units in my home. The customer service rep did not quote me 1400.00 and being a PC member she should have known this. BIG MISTAKE number 2.... had a technician fix several plumbing issues with 2 out of my 3 toilets and replace a faucet, what was completed was new piping coming from the wall to the toilet tank was replaced, new seal values inside the tank, and the big blue thingy on the hot water heater was apparently installed wrong, and adding a new faucet... this cost me 2300.00 which included my 10% discount. I have to say my toilets are always stopping up now (never had this problem before) and the faucet that was installed is an ole' cheapo. The faucet alone was 280.00 for the faucet and installation. No name brand on the faucet.
Most recent problem I had with My plumber was I my kitchen sink was stopped-up. Of course I called; they had a technician at my home same day. The technician walks in, looks at my sink, turns on the disposal and yep - you have a clogged sink (no crap dude) and proceeded to tell me he would have to snake it all the way out to the street (42 feet). Okay, but I asked him how does he know that just by looking at stagnant water and turning on the disposal. He says he just knows. I am no plumber, but it my pipes were clogged 42 feet out to the street, than my toilets and shower would not have been working.
I am thinking the whole time before his arrival... cost maybe a 150.00 at most. NOOOOO it actually cost me 417.00 after my 10% discount. Not to mention I had a coupon that gave 40.00 off any sink/toilet service. I even mentioned this to the customer service rep when I called to book the appointment. Was told to give it to the technician. Did so when he there and was told by the technician only one discount is allowed. I was fuming to say the least. I asked why have coupons specifically for PC members on the company website for use, if you can not honor them.
I paid the technician and then he proceeded to tell me my disposal was old, look original to the house. I just knotted my head and he continues to tell me he could fix it today for this amount (can't remember the amount) or quote would be more if they had to come back.... I am thinking to myself this guy has NO idea what he is talking about because my disposal was less then a year old. So if you are certified plumber, you're telling me you can not tell if a disposal is old or new??? Dumb fool left his number on the invoice should I decided to have it replace. After I calmed down I call his stupid self and ripped him a new one (has the saying goes) telling him my disposal was not original to the home, and that I was extremely upset that he did not accept my coupon. His excuse for the coupon was it did not know I was PC member and the coupon looked like it came from the phone book. It was printed out of 8x11 /1/2 size paper... I screamed at him saying you are dumb enough not to know the difference between a phone book coupon and computer printed coupon.
Needless to say, I am DONE and OVER my plumber and their jacked-up service deals and prices. As of writing this review I have canceled my PC membership and will never ever suggest this company to anyone. PERIOD.
However, I can the customer service folks have been pleasant and very nice to work with. I also did receive a 50% refund on my last service when I called in to complain to management. But bottom line is paying 40.00 pr month for PC member services are not worth it.
A. M.Highly recommend this company, as a first home owner I was not sure who to call when I had my first plumbing and HVAC issues. But after reviewing some reviews I decided to call My Plumber they were at my house in a timely manner and fixed my issues with no problems. The tech that came out to fix my pluming was Alex B. he was very professional and respectful of our home left the area of repair cleaner than he found it. The hvac tech was Mark K. he as well was knowledgeable and professional. We also had our ducts cleaned not sure the name of the techs who were here that day but again same experience as with the other techs. I feel confident in having this company maintenance our home in the future.
Bill S.My Plumber came out to provide an estimate for a commercial job. The two guys they sent out were very nice, and very salesman-like. They kept pushing their monthly maintenance plan instead of addressing the issue at hand.
They decided to bring a camera guy out to scope our pipes. We were told that they have cameras that can ""go around any turn and go down any pipe."" When the cameraman arrived he walked around for an hour. He then tried to scope a floor drain with no success. He literally kept banging the camera into the trap, and then was surprised to learn that there was a trap there (it's required to be there by code).
The cameraman eventually said that this job was too complicated for him and that he had only been on the job for three months.
The original estimate was free, and the camera work was going to cost $99. I would not recommend My Plumber for any service.
Never Ever trust My Plumber. I had a main sewer line backed-up. A technician came and cleared with 20 ft of snaking and said there is possible broken pipe just outside of house , which was verified by using camera. The camera technician said it would take at least one and half day of work and many crews, which was turned out to be false. His estimate was $5,894.00. Without knowing the extent of work, it was agreed at the price of $5,000.00. On the next day two crews came and digged for 3 hours and repaired within an hour and the work is done. The digging was about 4 ft deep and 10 ft long. I complained to a manager about the misrepresentation of their initial work assessment and the Outrageous Charges of $5,000.00. He said every customer is charged same amount and it would not be fair to other customers for them to reduce price. I reported the BBB because they lied about the extent of work and overcharged and unethical practice of their business. 3/28/2013
