MV General Contracting (Mario V) contacted me in response to a quote request here on Yelp. I can't speak to the quality of Mario's (MV General Contracting) work but that's because I chose not to hire him after his Illogical and unreasonable demands of wanting me sign up to his labor price BEFORE he would provide even an estimate or a listing of the materials needed that I would have to pay up front for. This was for some exterior house repair work that needed to be done. I have not heard nor experienced this tactic from the other quotes I've gotten in the past or present.

Mario explained that going to the store and making a list of the materials needed is an expense of his time so I told him just give me a low and high range but he refused. I then offered to pay him for his time for both of us to go the Home Depot or Lowes and identify all the materials he needed but he wouldn't consider that either (this despite the fact that he lives 2 minutes from me and the Lowes is another 2 minute drive). In case language was an issue, I explained how this is unreasonable in very easy and slowly spoken english but to no avail. He just kept up his demand for signing up to his labor price before he would advance the discussion any further.

The disadvantage to the customer with this predatory tactic is obvious, you have signed up to pay him a fixed labor price without a clue of what the materials will cost and thus at the mercy of Mario with the total price (labor AND materials) a mystery.

At the time of this writing, he had only 2 reviews for work done (or attempted)...one favorable and the other horrible. Unfortunately, I have to add another horrible review of working with him even before actual work was begun. Future customer beware!

I am very disappointed in this company. What started as a good relationship has soured to the point where I will never use this company, or refer them again.
I wanted to have a bathroom vanity that was a little smaller then the existing one installed in my master bathroom. I contacted the owner of the MV Contracting to see if he was interested in the job and he agreed. When he got to my house, he called me and told me that the existing vanity was smaller - which I already told him it would be. I asked him to install the new vanity by centering it from where the old vanity was. No reason why it wouldn't work, but he didn't think it was a good idea because it wouldn't be centered under my light fixture or extremely large wall mirror - which I know wasn't entirely correct. He told me instead of installing a new vanity, he can paint over the severely chipped vinyl on my old cabinet. I told him that i didn't want that since there was particle board under the vinyl and it would have looked awful to paint over it! Instead of listening to me, he set his worker to paint the cabinet. The result was nothing short of a complete disaster with paint clearly covering the chipped vinyl! Further, you can see every imperfection in the particle board with the coat of paint over it.
I immediately contacted the owner of the company to express my shock when I saw the painted vanity cabinets. He seemed to care more about me placing blame on him then he did about how to resolve this issue. He offered to come and install the new vanity, and I twice I agreed to allow him to do it, however I have not heard from him since then.

While the previous jobs I contracted him to do for me turned out very good, this latest problem has spoiled my perception of the company.

Customers have said that he and his crew have excellent quality work and been very satisfied with everything he does. He is honest , fair and his workmanship speaks for its self.
