My water heater was broke. I called Mulco for an estimate. Although it says on their website ""free estimates"" they charged me $162. They claimed that telling me that my water heater was broke (which I already knew) and that I needed some sort of pipe was not part of the estimate. Their estimate was also several thousand dollars more than the others I had received.

Don't ever use this company.

Did business with them for years. Never questioned prices. Installed a second toilet for us . We questioned an additional charge of $285 to put in flange that was not in original quote. immediately reduced charge by $100 which told us the + $285 was way out of line. The remaining + $185 was also way out of line. Questioned that tooas we have significant experiece with plumbing over the years. They claim it was for extra time. There was no extra time. The work took the same amount of time as the first toilet install. We offered to pay by check what we thought it should be. They did not respond. A week later they charged a credit card we had used with them a year prior for the original quote plus $193 without our permission. That is not roght.

Short discussion. I called them and one minute into the conversation, before even discussing the project, they demanded a credit card.

Mulco was able to diagnose and fix a chronic problem with our hot air furnace that Weber & Grahn and another company could not. They may be a little limited with the number of mechanics but the ones they have are good. They also fixed a problem with our toilet backing up and our AC that stopped working in our former house. I should have called them first.

The service technicians are quite skilled but there's something shady going on with their business practices. After being quoted a time and cost estimate for a service via phone, I hired them because they were cheaper than another quote I'd gotten. When I received the invoice for the work, it was a whopping 220% of what I'd been quoted even though the time estimate was spot on. I called to ask how the invoice was so far off from the estimate and was told I would get a return call. I didn't. What I did get was an unauthorized charge to my credit card for the full invoice amount. I called again to try to resolve it and was told I would receive a return call. I didn't. I called a third time (this is over the course of four weeks) and finally received someone helpful. She noted that my card shouldn't have been charged and researched it with her team. She called me back to let me know there's nothing she could do. Don't end up like I did. Hire someone reputable to do your plumbing and heating work.

Avoid them at all cost. They told me they blew out my pipes and didn't (only did exterior) and my pipes burst. Perhaps a misunderstanding, but after I called them to turn off the water that was ruining my house they sent me a $3k bill. A few years later my 85yr old mother called them to fix a disposal and they charged her $1,300 to change a switch. Bad people!
