Our interaction with this business (Robert) was truly bizarre. First, he had difficulty understanding text messages. Then, when I explained the plumbing problem via phone, as well as discussed options for him coming to look at and do the work, he said ""Take a breath, stop talking, your making my head spin."" We were so desperate to get a plumber out to our location that I let that pass. He never said he was actually coming the next morning, so I continued looking for a plumber.

At about 9 AM the next morning, we received a text msg indicating that he was ready to come, but needed an address. We were uncomfortable with this lack of communication and we had never gone over pricing for this visit, just the price for changing a failed shutoff valve - $125. We were hopeful that things would work out. So, I texted him the phone number for one of my workers, indicating that he needed to call my guy to get entry to the condo. Someone at that cell phone thanked us for the instructions. Our people waited downstairs at the loading dock, where he was supposed to enter the building, then went upstairs after not seeing him there. I received a call from the property management office stating that a plumber was waiting downstairs for us and wanted to enter the condo. I was horrified that Robert would cause a disruption by going around us and appearing at the security desk unannounced. I said OK to let him upstairs, even though Robert NEVER called our guys for entry, figuring that things could not get worse. I was wrong.

Robert never came upstairs. One of my guys went downstairs and did not see him at the front desk. Eventually, my guy saw him and started to take him upstairs. Then a security guard told Robert that he was parked illegally and had to move. Robert told my guy ""I've had enough of this. Tell Al I'm out of here."" Robert then left, leaving us without a plumber, embarrassing us in front of the condo association management, and having wasted an hour of our time.

Even worse, he sent us a bill for $125, calling it a service call fee!!! I sent him a message back stating that he had to be crazy since he never even went to the condo and failed to follow simple directions. He claimed that the condo assn told him to leave, so we owed him the money. I pointed out that they only told him to find legal parking, not to abandon the work, but he left in a huff. This man is now threatening us with collection action.

This was a nutty experience and we wish we had never encountered Robert or his company. He must be so desperate for business, given his inability to follow directions and his ill temperament, that he tries to collect when he never even went to the work site. We will pray for him. We will never pay for him.

MTD Drain's was great to work with. They had a quick response time and were confident they could fix the problem. They were able to set up an appointment quickly and within my schedule. The day of the service, the plumber who came out was right on schedule, friendly and professional and totally solved my problem (toilet running). Will use MTD again for any plumbing issues!
