**Edit: I'd like to make it VERY clear that this is a bad review for MSE plumbing. I only mention AHS because I would not have called this plumbing company had I not been using my home warranty. AHS sends you the cheapest company they can find. if you want a good plumber, call someone else**

Called AHS last summer because our shower was leaking through the ceiling from upstairs. They sent out MSE Plumbing. The plumber was nice enough but CLUELESS and a bit of a slob. He didn't have shoe covers so he walked around my house in his socks. He said the whole shower pan would have to be torn out and they couldn't authorize that so he CUT A HOLE with a sawzall in my living room ceiling to get at the drain from there. He didn't even measure where to cut, just eyeballed it. He climbed up and said his tools didn't have room in the space and there was nothing he could do. We were left with an ugly hole right above out tv in our new house (I was also 6 months pregnant) and a still leaking shower. AHS sent us like a $75 check to fix the hole only after I bugged them enough and my dad fixed the drain when he was out visiting 3 months later... WITH JUST SOME %#$!ing CAULKING!

They're horrible. We let AHS lapse because they're useless and you'd have to be drunk to call MSE plumbing.

Once again, MSE Plumbing has come to my rescue. Troy and his crew are the best--timely, professional, considerate and reasonably priced.

Please note that some of the criticisms linked to MSE Plumbing are related to problems consumers have with their home warranty insurance companies, NOT with the plumbing company.

MSE Plumbing has always treated me fairly, clearly explaining what's going on, deals with my home warranty company, and respects my home. I am very happy to know them.

Unfortunately this plumber takes advantage of consumers with home warranty protection (AHS). AHS provides labor and replacement, but MSE then racks up the charges. BUYER BEWARE--this is a shady operation. They do not care about customers.

I had a problem with my hot water heater. I called American Home Shield who called MSE plumbing and since I had no hot water the office manager at MSE had my status upgraded. Aladdin from MSE came out and was prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. The issue was with a gas control unit that was giving a ""fatal"" error which was not immediately repairable. Aladdin knew whom to call (at Whirlpool), was able to get us a free part (since it was under warranty) had it shipped by overnight delivery, and two days later returned to install the new unit (which took about 20 minutes). After this was all over, he even gave me a detailed description of how I can flush out the water heater to prevent the same problem from happening again.
I was a little leery about MSE since they have some bad yelp reviews; but in my experience they were great. I would definitely recommend their services.

My home warranty sent these guys out because my toilets, and showers were all backed up and I couldn't use anything. The guy asked me where my water clean out was located on the outside of my house. I said I didn't know, because I just bought the house. He looked around for about 1 min in the front yard and about 30 seconds in the back yard and then said it was probably landscaped over. He then proceeded to say that to locate it, wasn't covered by home warranty and if I wanted to hire his company to find it, it would run between $500-$1000, and he couldn't do anything for me tonight. It was extremely obvious that he didn't feel like doing anything tonight and wanted to go home so he wasn't even going to try but still wanted my $60 deductible paid for his 10 minutes worth of doing nothing. I got irate, paid him his money and that was that. After he left, I saw a metal plate 2 ft from my front door. I took the top off and wouldn't ya know it was my clean out. I called another plumbing company out to make sure that was the clean out and it was and the plumber even said that is the normal spot that it would be in.

Read reviews on yelp because that is how I found the 2nd plumbing company and they were great and had 5 stars from 7 other reviewers!

Admittedly, I was reluctant when I calls AHS and they told me MSE Plumbing was being sent to my house. Having said that ...

The plumber, Ibn (not a typo), called 30 minutes prior to arrival. He showed up on time. He put booties on his shoes upon entering. He listened to the problem and diagnosed the problem. He answered all of my questions (which were plentiful). He worked quickly and exhibited nothing but professionalism and knowledge of his craft. I was worried - but would absolutely recommend this company, and in particular this employee, to anyone having a plumbing issue. Great job! Thanks Ibn.

I've read these reviews and at first glance I said OH NO, please do not send these folks to me. I even considered calling AHS to see if I had any other options after reading these post. Even when MSE called to set the appointment I said have you seen your reviews, she said yes. I told here I would comment after the service was done. All I can say, here is never judge a book by it's cover and I'm not sure went wrong with these other customers they must have been that 10% that you can not make happy or their item was not covered by AHS warranty. My experience far exceeded my expectations. This highly trained and extremely competent service technician was the epitome of GREAT customer service and true know how and my situation was extremely complex. I paid only my $75 copay yet he gave me priceless peace of mind and a timely repair. I have an all custom home down to the fixtures and again my job was no easy task. I can tell you I am a law enforcement officer and former US Marine so I am quick to judge a person character and integrity. This was like having an old-time truly honest plumber come to your home and do whatever it takes to make you happy and complete the project. Honesty was a virtue here. I would give this conpany zero stars if I could. This is without doubt the worst plumbing company I have ever seen, and appear to only handle bottom of the food chain AHS service calls. They are the most unproffesional company I have dealt with and can't even make an appt window from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. DO NOT use this company and tell everyone else you know to not use them.

A plumber from this company came to fix a flange on our toilet that had broken off. He came on a Friday and basically told us what we already knew and that he had to order a part that was probably laying around the shop, but hey it's Friday we understood. What we didn't understand is why he left our bathroom dirty. Filth all over the toliet, the floor and the dirty handtowels my husband let him use. He came back Monday and fixed the part on the toliet. When he was leaving I had to remind him to finish his work order which included snaking the bathtub in the other bathroom. He left both bathrooms filthy. Overall disappointed in the service received. If you make a mess clean it up. #kindergartenlesson101

I was forced to use this company as another reviewer, due to MSE being contracted with American Home Shield. I am fighting for my credit card charged $75, which was to be a deductible if work was done. This Billy guy shows up, agrees with the obvioius that I need a new water heater. Reluctantly calls for preauthorization at my request and gets frustrated with all the time it took to be on the phone.. Billy did not take the time to describe all details that would have saved me money, he just left. Had he explained more of the breakdown, had I had them do the work, it would have and should have only cost $75 copay. Instead, because Billy did not take time to explain to the preauth rep the same info he did to me, I was told I would have to pay about $400 extra because Billy worded in a way making them misinterpret something, allowing them to find a way to say it was not covered. Had Billy clarified, I would have only had to pay $75 but he didn't care. He just either wanted to the job and get paid regardless of what my share was. I did not know I was charged anything until my credit cards statement arrived. I then call Ed, who said he is the licensed owner but he did not care as he just denied the refund without hearing the whole situation out.
In shore, there was no contract, no authorization to charge my credit card but they did it anyway. Had I agreed to have them do the work, I would have paid more to them than I would have to other contractors I had obtained free estimates from. It appears they make more money through this home warrany group but the consumer pays for it. In short, this company just wants your money in anyway they can get it. Do NOT give them any kind of money until any work and contract is clearly signed. I do not trust that this Billy is even licensed as his name does not show up on the contractor's state licensing board. Avoid them and save yourself money and trouble disputing things. Sadly, they have a good BBB rating but I am forwarding my complaint to them to, and likely the contractor's board.
