To unclog a drain, Mr. Rooter charged us $629.93 per hour.
I *really* wish I was making that up.
Sewer pipe clogged.
Called Mr. Rooter.
According to the security cameras, Mr. Rooter was on-site one hour and thirteen minutes.
Mr. Rooter's invoice for a one-hour thirteen-minute sewer snake: $766.62.
In other words, to run a snake eighty feet down a pipe, Mr. Rooter charged $629.93 per hour.
What can I say? They got me. Mr. Rooter will say, correctly, that they told me the cost and I agreed to it. I was out of town, my wife was alone, it was a Saturday and I was rattled and anxious. Once I calmed down I looked up our last rooter job, from a different company: $165.
Why would Mr. Rooter do this? Was it worth the loss of a customer for a one-time profit?
I was a chump. My fault. Never again.

I had a bathtub faucet leak, needed a cartridge change. When I called I asked for price range, estimate, they wouldn't give me anything. The guy came and looked at it, he didn't touch anything and said 600$ to change the cartridge. When I asked how long it would take him to do it, he said one hour it's easy even you can do it if you watch the video. I know plumbing services are expensive but 600$ for an hour? He insisted for 100$ visit charge, don't waste your money, anywhere else you go it will cheaper.

Toilet was running and since it had non-traditional fill valve, decided a professional was better suited for the job. Mr. Rooter charges a $99 service fee just to come to your house. When technician arrived, corrected diagnosed fill valve and flapper needed to be replaced- no surprise there. Then quoted me $450 to replace. Already in for $99, felt trapped and agreed to the overpriced fee.
Job was done correctly, but way too expensive. Took technician about 20 minutes.

Called and received a quick response. We had a stopped up toilet. Tried a couple of plungers and one small snake. Just couldn't get it to flow. Time for a pro. Mr. Rooter was in the search. Arrived in about 20 minutes. Assessed the problem, blockage in the toilet P trap. Gave us the price, $285. Without further problems. I thought it would be about $100. He was threr and it needed to be cleared. He used a Toilet Drain Auger and five minutes later it was working fine. I now own one, Home Depot or Lowes, $58.00. Won't be calling them again. This is about as minor of a problem as one could have. I guess that's their baseline for one call. Pretty darn high in my opinion. I'll attach a photo in case you run into the same issue, do yourself a favor. Buy one and do it yourself. It's easy.

I needed a bathroom sink unplugged. They would give me no costs over the phone but said would send someone same day to come and give a quote. He was on time and looked at the problem. Then quoted me $424. FOR A CLOG! I said no, called ProDrain who did share costs online. They came a couple hours later and were in and out in no time. Plus he fixed my sink stopper. All for $135. So threw away Mr. Rooter biz card and saved my ProDrain card. Lesson learned. One star is for them being on time and the guy that showed was nice enough.

Scottie came and saved the day! Super friendly and personable, even though he was working late and probably tired, he did not make us feel like we were a burden on his time. Great service. Conscientious and respectful of COVID-19 protocol in our home. Good listener and extremely thorough in his explanations of what he thought our issue was, then what he would do to discover the true nature of the issue and what we could do to prevent future problems, and even including recommendations of good disinfectants and where to buy. Very happy with the service and would recommend, would even request Scottie by name if available.

I had a sump pump alarm issue and honestly did not know what to do. Remembering that I had had a flooding problem a few years back, I had gone through my emails and found Mr. Rooter had done the job before. I gave them a call and they came within the hour to inspect the issue and took care of it immediately, explained what had happened, and put my mind at ease immediately. I highly recommend them for any plumbing needs. They are fast, reliable and very ethical. Five stars. Would give them 6 if that was available!

Needed help with unclogging some slow-draining pipes, and Mr Rooter was able to send someone out within the hour (whereas most places weren't even open!).
Jeremy was great- very friendly, professional, got everyone done quickly for us. We will definitely be calling this company again when we need plumbing help. Very satisfied with the service

Jason did a great job! He was available the same day I called, knew exactly what the problem was, gave us two options for resolving it, gave us a year warranty on the work just in case it came up again, looked at areas around the problem and gave us a quote to solve two other problems that we didn't realize that we had and should eventually address before a big problem shows up. He is polite, capable, clean, respectful, transparent, trustworthy, and a pleasure to work with. Thank you!

It appeared evident that there was a sewer gas leak, Nathan was here within an hour and uncovered the cause in a stack vent. Using a camera he identified the clog and made short work of it.
The no charge offer to diagnose the problem made choosing a plumber an easy one. Hopefully there will be no future issues but if one occurs Nathan will be my first choice.
