David Duck established Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1970, launching his first branch in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He began his own plumbing venture, naming it Mr. Rooter. After discussions with Don Neighborly, Duck sold Mr. Rooter Plumbing to The Neighborly Group in 1989. While Duck sold the business rights and original franchises, he kept his shop in Oklahoma City. David Duck is still a franchise owner today.
