In 1970, David Duck founded Mr. Rooter Plumbing, opening the first location in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He began his own plumbing venture, branding it as Mr. Rooter. Following negotiations with Don Neighborly, The Neighborly Group purchased Mr. Rooter Plumbing in 1989. Despite selling the rights to the business and its initial franchises, Duck maintained ownership of his shop in Oklahoma City. David Duck remains a franchise owner to this day.
