Called for cleaning my sewer line. Would not provide a price in advance. Upon arrival, they told me the only way to clear the line was with a hydro blast type cleaning (without trying a standard method) at $750. Reluctantly I agreed, only to be told after 10 minutes of attempting to clear the line, that I needed $7000 in repairs. They presented me an estimate, with a 30% discount IF I signed immediately.
Of course I did not. However they still charged me $750 for clearing the line! (Later, after complaining about the charge they refunded $150. That is still $600 for a service they didn't complete!)
The customer service rep was so understanding and compassionate, I actually considered using them. Then I read the contract! There is a clause that allows the company to withdraw funds from your checking account if there are extra charges!! IF you decide to use this company, READ THE CONTRACT!
A second estimate was $2000 less. I would avoid this company at all costs.

A very nice young man who showed up on time to snake the kitchen line and did this at the price he said he would.
no complaints there.

however I was left with the uncomfortable impression that the company has incentivized him to upsell... not necessarily a horrible thing.... but when the kitchen stack clean out blockage was removed (thank you) he then ran a camera into the PVC/2 inch cast-iron pipes and initially strongly stated that the camera clearly showed that the cast-iron pipes were broken/damaged and that the water was draining under the foundation.

then, after running the hose through the clean out while simultaneously running the camera, the sludge moved through the system and started to show -from my perspective- that the 2 inch cast-iron pipes were functioning properly.
but that is my unprofessional opinion

we did flush the toilet, and with the camera we could see the water running successfully out to the main line as it should have been.

since there has never been any blockage experienced from the toilets, and the only blockage was from the kitchen stack, we then kept running water and filming.
the water worked its way nicely...all the way out to the Sewer system ...

after everything seemed to be working perfectly, I was then offered a pressure cleaning (which seem to contradict the early diagnosis that the pipes were broken)

obviously, statements that leave you with the impression water...filled with waste... is pouring out underneath your foundation and that you could be facing $5,000 to $10,000 worth of work to replace the pipes...Creates some serious anxiety...

and Again concluded with been offered a pressure cleaning only after it became apparent that there were no broken pipes
( I say apparent not knowing 100% that there are no broken pipes but everything's Is working....) we ran the hose for about five minutes more, with the camera, and the longer the water ran, the more we could see the sludge clearing

I was also told that the mainline P-trap underneath the concrete was a code violation and a serious problem

it's my understanding that the main line P-trap (Underneath the basement floor) is actually per code. I am assuming it's a way of keeping methane from working its way into your house ... just like the P-trap underneath the sink ...The mainline P-trap combined with the exhaust stack that runs to the roof ...I called another plumber to ask and confirm my thoughts and they said that of course when you run a camera through your clean out underneath the kitchen stack that you would see the camera go through water and then come back out ...that's the P-trap and not a code violation.

I don't think I've explained this really well

but I hope it makes some sense:
that I felt I was being deceived

it's not clear to me that the young man was a man of bad character i

t is my assumption that ownership has played a part in either pushing or greatly incentivizing their technician to find more work at each call...more than the $425 I was charged to snake my line

I was happy to pay the $425

I'm very disappointed in the strong possibility that I was deceived combined with the current world that is filled, now, with individuals who see truth as relative and whose moral compass is broken

while I might've saved myself $10,000 I am sure that there are others who will not and it is my hope that this review might help someone else not experience what I have experienced... needless fear, anxiety, and the ""near miss"" of being scammed.

Don't sign for anything other than the service you called about without a second or even third professional opinion!

and check the BBB if you think this is a one-off!

I recently needed a plumber to come out on a Sunday afternoon to deal with a running water issue that I could not stop. Mr Rooter was quick to get a plumber to my house. The plumber was professional and explained what the situation was, and then resolved it for us.

I had them come out to fix a leaky shower faucet which they sent someone the next day. However, in two days it started leaking in a different spot. They have rescheduled two different times now since I've asked them to come back out and fix it. I will not be using them in the future.

Excellent workmanship and prompt response on large basement plumbing job. All of the plumbers and technicians they sent were professional and courteous. Glenn Roeder was the best of a great group of employees. Would recommend them to others.

I needed my water pressure regulator replace due to low water pressure at my home. I called to make an appointment and one of the plumbers came the very next day and made the necessary repairs. Very responsive.

We had Mr. Rooter come to our home. I chose them for a client of mine after the plumbing company I used and recommended for years couldnt take the time to even return a call. She was so pleased with Mr. Rooter that we called them when we had a problem. They were so courteous and thorough from the first phone call to the service call and then a follow-up call. While so many company's today wont give you the time of day, Mr. Rooter does. That is why they will remain in business long after many of the others fade away. Thank you again Dylan, Curtis and Miles. Dale And Karen

Mr. Rooter did a sewer job on a prior house we were pleased with, so when the sewer backed up on our new house they were our first call. They recommended cameraing the line, however they were three times the going rate for a camera. But they were there, so we had them do it. That's when their tech told us all the cast iron under the house was completely shot, missing sections, would all have to be replaced, quoting a 15k repair.

I sent their video to three other plumbers, and we had another company come out and recamera the line. All of them said the line was fine, and there was no need to rip apart the basement. It was just a simple soft blockage.

I'm not a plumber, and I know there can be differences of opinion. But everyone I talked to who wasn't trying to sell me on a 15k repair said the line was fine. I will say that the folks I talked to at Mr. Rooter were very respectful, but continued to double down and insist I needed the repair. And the folks I talked with on the phone were talking about a single tree root (which the other company said was a tampon string), and were all talking very differently than the original tech. And they never refunded their original camera.

I'm really not sure what to make of their service. They were responsive and respectful, but very expensive, and tried to sell me on a repair that everyone else I talked to said I didn't need. Perhaps time will prove them right, but for now I cannot recommend their services.

Edit: After posting this review, I was contacted immediately by Mr. Rooter, and after talking with the gentleman was offered a refund of my camera, said it would go through in a couple of days. However, it took nearly three weeks and another call to their accounting department to actually receive it. But I did receive the refund and again, everyone was very respectful. It was just a minor mistake that was easily rectified, but I can't say it was exactly the confidence inspiring remedy they might have hoped for.

1) I WILL NEVER EVER USE MR. ROOTER PLUMBING FOR ANYTHING AGAIN!
2) I used Mr Rooter because they were recommended and thought they were honest.
3) They charged me over $500.00 for a one hour job to replace a three inch copper pipe.
(99% labor)
3) Their estimates are not free.
4) I later found out that Angi would guaranteed the repair for $282.00 with up to 2 hours of
labor.
5) So I paid ALMOST DOUBLE TO MR ROOTER for the job. Ppp

We had Mr. Rooter come out twice to our business and both times they communicated well, arrived on time and did very satisfying work. We would not hesitate to use them again.
