Tech showed my husband a video of a corroded and collapsed cast iron pipe under our home. Promptly gave us an bid to replace and 5 minutes later asked us if wanted to move forward. Bid was for $19,000.
Could not provide the video when asked to show it to us again the next day. Said he didn't record it.
Alternate company took a video which did not show any corroded or collapsing cast iron.
Went with the reputable company to clean and line our cast iron as a preventative.

Our technician arrived on time, he was super-efficient and polite, overall just a great experience. 100% chance I will call them for future services.

We had a leak in a ceiling pipe in our basement and Dylan showed up in under an hour and fixed it right away. He answered all our dumb plumbing questions and gave us some estimates for additional work. Recommend!

We Had a very bad experience with Kirkwood Plumbing (Mr. Rooter) on 03 October, 2024.
I was out of town, and my wife noticed bubbles coming from the basement commode when the adjacent shower was running. I had her call Kirkwood Plumbing because we had used them before and had been happy with the service.
We had a very different experience this time.

When the two technicians arrived, the younger one, Luke, announced, before even doing any analysis, that due to the age of the house, 50 years old, they expected bad news.

The first thing they did was to go up onto the roof to ""check about venting issues"". Finding no issue there, they then removed the commode to run a camera.
They said that they could only get a short distance down the line, that there were odd bends or turns that prevented them from going any further. They marked some approximate locations on the basement floor with blue tape.

The camera results were described as terrible, crumbling iron pipe under the house, ""parts of the pipe completely eroded"", an absolute plumbing emergency.
Luke showed my wife some video of a crumbled pipe with worms visible inside the pipe.
It was mentioned that water was flowing the wrong way in a section of the pipe, back towards the house.

Luke then wrote a proposal to do over $7100 worth of work, involving ripping up a 10 foot path through our newly installed basement flooring, through the foundation concrete, to address the problems in the crumbling cast iron pipe. My wife was advised that the $7100 and 10 feet of digging might be insufficient, that they might have to dig further when they laid eyes on what was happening. My wife asked if it was possible for them to go from the other direction with the camera, from the outside back towards the house, and Luke said no.

We had to ask for a copy of the video. We received a 50 second clip, with no apparent issues. That evening, we decided to seek a second opinion.

We had The SewerPros inspection service come in the next day, and they videoed our sewer lines. They said the cast iron pipe under the house was absolutely A-Okay. The only issue they found was some roots in a damaged area of clay pipe over 100 feet downhill away from the house.
So, our issue with Kirkwood Plumbing/Mr. Rooter was that they were going to proceed with over $7100 of unethical, unnecessary work themselves, and we still would have had to pay for getting the basement flooring reinstalled ourselves.
They did refund all of the $3500 deposit check my wife had written, after a two week wait, but the reputational damage had been done.

The entire experience was amazing. Everyone was helpful and the service was prompt and thoughtful. I want to especially thank Brendan Ryan the plumber for going above and beyond and his kindness. I would definitely reccommend this company and Brendan.

Had some water in basement & thought it was a foundation issue. Called a couple of other companies to see if they could figure it out. Finally called Mr. Rooter to check the sump pump. It wasn't that at all. Plumber found a leak in a pipe that was the cause of the water problem. Took no time to fix! Should have called them first!
Excellent service! Came out within an hour.

don't use them. they flooded my house and didn't want to take responsibility for their negligence. I had to gut my whole house. I tried to sue them but apparently I signed a document waiving my rights. don't use them. it's more people out there doing the right thing

Needed new water heater and CJ was very informative and professional as well as quickly being able to get the process completed. Within a 3 hour window it was done. I received a Rheem 40 gallon, the cost for everything was fair $2400. Would definitely recommend this company.
